Common Questions and Answers about Gabapentin heart

neurontin

If Kolnapin would be a good choice how would I go about starting it since I'm on the Gabapentin? Could I safely start on this while weaning off the Gabapentin? My phsyciatirst says that the Gabapentin is the best medication for my anxiety so I would probably have a hard time getting him to try me on something else. In fact he says that I am stable enough to only see him every other month. I on the other hand do not feel that way.
Hello, everyone! I am a 16-year-old girl and I take gabapentin for nerve pain (we think...) My neurologist gave me a perscription for 1800 mg per day. The other day, I went to a Christmas party and left the gabapentin at home, so I missed a dose. I got a horrible stomach ache that night and was miserable. The next day, I took the medicine, and the stomach aches are gone. i also have gotten weird vision problems when I accidentally miss a dose.
Izel62711 is a new member that has just been prescribed gabapentin for pain on the left side of her ribs. SHe is concerned about the medication. I have taken gabapentin for neuropathic foot pain. It worked well for a while, in tandem with Elavil. I had no side effects, but it eventually stopped working, so I swithed to another anti-seizure med called Lyrica. Anyone else have gabapentin experience to share?
I am a bit worried about taking Gabapentin.....if it starts to work, and I think it might be.....(which is awesome for the day to day life), but when you're not in pain, you can forget that something is wrong! Im worried that I won't push for an answer as hard and/or something will get missed! I don't want to take this band-aid treatment for the rests of my life.....I want to get better!
She referred me to a pain management doctor and physical therapist and also gave me a prescription for Gabapentin (100mg...take 100mg at night for 5 days, then 200mg a night for 5 days then 300mg a night). Has anyone taken it and found it helpful? Also what about the dose? So much that I am reading discusses much higher doses and talks about taking it 3 times a day. Any insight would be gratefully appreciated, thanks.
For those of you taking these drugs (or especially gabapentin) can you comment if you have this side effect?
I was on 300mg gabapentin for nerve pain foe three weeks, but had to stop abruptly as I was suffering severe breathing problems, Three weeks later I am still suffering withdrawal problems, is this normal.
Hi - my neurologist has recently put me on 2400 mg of Gabapentin per day for severe RLS, along with the .5 mg Mirapex and .5 mg Clonazepam I am already on. I also had a double bypass about 1 1/2 years ago and am on a lot of different heart meds. For the past two days I have been experiencing numbness in my left arm and hand. I called my pharmiscist just now and he says it is a side effect to the Gabapentin but I should get use to it in a few days. I worry because it is my left arm.
Since upping my dose of Gabapentin to 1600mg daily for Neuropathy and Migraines I am retaining fluid and I have to push to pee. I am drinking lots and lots of water to counteract the swelling but wonder what the having to push to pee means.
I've been prescribed Gabapentin to control symptoms of neuropathy in my feet. The nerve damage presented during a course of interferon treatment and still hasn't improved close to three years later. I'm afraid of the drug but am quite weary of dealing with chronic nerve pain. (Btw, I take 600 mgs of ALA daily and haven't found it especially helpful.) Would you mind sharing your experiences with me, both the good and bad?
After being on the Oxy-c and Tramadol together then just the tramadol for a couple months I got a severe case of Shingles with the treatment being Oxycodone and anti virals...my neuropatic pain in my back was unbearable so I was put on Gabapentin which I stayed on for about 7weeks and now I've tried weening back off both the Tram and GabaP but am finding it horrible to endure as it has worsened my depression ..
I do have a bottle of 100 mg gabapentin (270 count) and have heard it willl ease withdrawal symptoms. How much should I start with, how many doses a day and how many days can I safely take it until I have to withdrawal from it too? I also have a bottle of methocarbamol and have heard it could ease the withdrawals. Has anyone ever tried it? I have been prescribed all these drugs including the vicodin for a botched broken leg/ankle surgery resulting in nerve pain.
Just seemed weird that it started when I started the gabapentin. But maybe just a new thing for me! I'm going to ask to up it tomorrow. I also had low heart rate right after I started it for a couple of days...down to 48 when my usual is 72 or so, but that seems to have righted itself so I think I can ask for a higher dose. daisy.girl - did you start on a low dose and work up or just start out at your current dose?
I was prescribed gabapentin along with my Fentanly, but the pharmacist kind of scared me due to the doses I was prescribed. I was to start on 300mg. capsules 3 times a day, then the next week go up to 6-300 capsules (2-3 times a day), then the next week 9 capsules per day ( 3-300mg, capsules per day). I had never taken it before, and when the Pain Management Dr. told me that I might start walking into walls!, (which I forgot to even TELL the pharmecist!
Hi there, the MS specialist wants me to up the dose of gabapentin, I'm not taking much right now, only 1 pill 300 mg at night as it really tires me out. She wants me to take 100 mg twice a day in the daytime, but I'm taking amantadine twice a day to help with fatigue. Now the gabapentine twice a day makes me tired? does gabapentin have a side effect that effects you mouth...my teeth, gums.. etc..get so sore everyday for the past few days, not sure why.
) The problem is while Mandelamine, and the BP and Heart meds and Gabapentin are covered, the Vesicare is NOT COVERED and it is approx. $179.00 for 3 month supply. WHICH OF COURSE ON A FIXED DISABILITY INCOME, I CAN NOT AFFORD! Without these med, my timing will continue to decrease and I will back in the vicious cycle of having the stents every 6 weeks or so again. Why would that medicine NOT be covered?
I have trouble sleeping when i take gabapentin. I take 600mg at bedtime right now. My doctor just started me on it and I took this 5 hours ago. I am supposed to take another 300mg in the morning. I took the 600mg at like 9 pm. It is now almost 3am so I took 20 mg of cyclobenzaprine and the am dose of gabapentin. Is this safe? Like I said I am new to these meds and want to make sure I am not overdoing it.
I posted a journal entry today about my neuro visit but wanted to post briefly on here that he put me on Gabapentin. I said no to the Savella because of my heart condition and also I read that it interacts with my Lasix. No problems of that with the Gabapentin. He has me on 100mg 3x a day but I am starting with 2x a day, afternoon and night as it is supposed to make me drowsy and I want to see how I do on it. Yesterday was the first day so I cannot really comment.
I have heard/read that Neurontin/Gabapentin has really helped ease the WD for a lot of people, and has also been prescribed to help restless leg syndrome. I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with this. Thank you and God Bless!
Medications offered can include the immunosuppressant prednisone, intravenous gamma globulin (IVIG), anticonvulsants such as gabapentin or gabitril and antiviral medication, amongst others, according to the underlying cause. In some cases, rocking the head from side to side will painlessly remove the "pins and needles" sensation in less than a minute. A tingly hand or arm is often the result of compression in the bundle of nerves in the neck.

Well, im on day 3 off tramadol, and i have to say, the gabapentin is my best friend. No rls, been sleeping, no night sweats, just a few chills throughout the day, and sneezing. Actually feeling good, clear, got up out of bed the last two mornings feeling positive, not feeling like i cant function without the little devils. Incredible. Not sure how this has worked for anyone else, but for me its an absolute miracle drug!
I take gabapentin once a day, at night before bed. My doctor said I can take up to 500mg, I usually take 400 and sometimes only 300 mg. I was very resistant to taking medicine that will make me drowsy, so I compromised and only take enough to calm the twitches/ uncomfortable feelings enough for me to sleep. I thought I was taking little enough where I can still hear the kids if they wake up at night, and I do wake up if they need me.
have you heard of what im refering to? Do u suggest, or think its worth trying?
I have 70% nerve damage in my leg from this as well that's where gabapentin came into play. I can live a decent life with the meds. Keep my grandchildren etc... Had never thought about needing to reduce, increase anything. I felt like I had finally gotten where the pain was managed and I could at least have a life. Things changed when my insurance was canceled. I never knew that I would have this type of reaction withdrawing from medications. Especially the gabapentin.
I know that posting on the weekend is a touch and go thing but I have a couple things that are really scaring me. I am on 900mg/day Tegretol and I am on 900mg/day of Gabapentin as of yesterday. I titrated up to this dose in about two weeks at 300mg increments with the final addition of 300mg in the a.m. yesterday. Felt really foggy and just not right yesterday during the day.
I'll have to do some research on Gabapentin. It could very well be causing your symptoms. Do you remember if you had the heart palps before taking this med? Are you taking it because of an injury?
I've had symptoms since I was in my late 20's and now I'm 52. I've had every heart test possible and passed them all. I recently had a loop recorder installed in my chest to record my heart beat activity and to mark the episodes I'm having. Last week I had a 3 hour long fluttering and skipping beats, then a day later the same thing, three times in one day. Lasting about 3 hours each time. The doctor put me on Sotolol 40mg twice a day a month ago. He wants be to increase it to 80mg twice a day.
I have had three blackouts, about four seconds each (without warning) in the last 5 months. Two MRI's have been done, a heart catherization and 2 EEGs like 20 minutes each and one 24 hour videotelemetria. I am very worried because I could be anywhere at anytime and have an episode like this. I take 200mg daily of dilantin plus 1,500mg daily of gabapentin. What might be the cause of these?
I get palpatations and can hear my heart skip a beat in my head. I wouldnt be atall surprised if an irregular heartbeat is linked to migraine. I am seeing my doctor on Monday and will ask her about this.
