Avatar m tn 00 pm after taking (10 mg melatonin), (50 mg Trazodone), (100 mg Gabapentin). That has worked for 2 years giving me 7-8 hours uninterupted sleep. However, for the last couple of months I find myself waking up around 4:30 pm and can’t go back to sleep unless I take an additional Trazadone and Gabapentin. Do you see any harm in that…….. or should I consider another sleep prescription? Thank you for your help.
1039200 tn?1314912008 I suffer from bi-polar disorder herniated disks and i take gabapentin, morphine for that and triliptal for bi-polar, which they dont seem to be working as well as they used to anymore so ive asked my pharmacist what she recommends and she recommended lyrica. As you know pharmacists know way more about drugs than doctors, but I am super excited to get started on my Lyrica tomorrow!
Avatar n tn For years, I've had pain & fatigue, & symptoms of twitches from my torso down, pain in my right arm & hand, numb feet while running, uncontrollable toe-spreading, horrible nighttime nerve pain that makes it nearly impossible to sleep, & feelings of "flu-like" fatigue during the day, Four years ago went to our doc, who thought I might have MS & was sent to a neurologist. Had nerve conduction test, blood work-up, MRI of neck and brain, etc.
Avatar m tn Have you tried gabapentin for your epilepsy it's also works for anxiety. I currently take it for my anxiety and it works very well I take 300mgs 3-times a day. Maybe that will help. Good luck!!
Avatar f tn cymbaltia is great really works no more burning
Avatar n tn Fortunately for me, I was a dependent rather than an addict on the substance use disorder scale. Addicts struggle with cravings after detox, dependents don't. My question, does gabapentin slow down the process of healing the brain's chemistry? Does it interfere with the brain re-establishing it's normal chemical balances? I started, during detox, with 900mg/d for 3 days, then dropped it to 600mg/d for 3 more days. Now I'm down to 100mg/d at night.
8798274 tn?1399988458 When I stopped the medication, I started with serious problems (a lot of crying, anxiety, panic attack and sleep problems). I did not sleep for 3 days, then I slept like for three days. I do not feel tired anymore, I do not get that sleepy tired feeling. I have tried many meds to help me to sleep (trazodone, klonopin, Geodon..) nothing help. Now I am sleeping 2-3 hours a night with the help of gabapentin, but I do not feel tired, I DO NOT GET SLEEPY.
Avatar f tn in the States, has unlabeled uses for GAD and SAD, (Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Social Anxiety Disorder) it is primarily prescribed here for fibromyalgia and neuropathic pain associated with peripheral neuropathy. Nowhere can I find that it is beneficial for sleep problems, although one of it's side effects IS "fatigue," I don't think that is the desired effect for a sleep aid.
Avatar m tn ve heard that neurontin or gabapentin is great for stopping the nerve pain associated with withdrawal. Has anyone had experience with this?
3135572 tn?1342657739 I have been on gabapentin for a while now. 900 mg 4 x day. I have not had any twitching from it. I used to have the twitching before I started the med. Everyone reacts differently, so I would suggest checking out the side effects you can find a more comprehensive list on line. Check out the manufacturer web site.
Avatar n tn I recently started taking methadone for my RLS. My RLS was extremely severe - to the point where I was only able to sleep a couple hours a night, unable to sleep in a bed (I've had to sleep on the floor for about the last 5 years), I would punch my legs to make them go numb, spend most of the night walking around my living room, and spent much of my time in a lot of pain. Methadone has been extremely helpful so far. I am sleeping at night and my legs rarely bother me.
Avatar n tn Three years ago, after years of attempting to ignore growing symptoms of pain and fatigue, and with increasing symptoms of twitches from my torso down, periodic pain in my right arm and hand, numb feet while running, uncontrollable toe-spreading, horrible nighttime nerve pain that made it nearly impossible to sleep for more than cat-naps at a time, and an overall feeling of regular "flu-like" exhaustion during the day, I went to my family practitioner, who after examining me thought I
Avatar f tn Gabapentin is a good drug for some things, and not for others. General side affects are things like headaches, stomach pain, dizziness, dry mouth, sleepiness---the normal things that can happen when you go on any drug. Most of the time, gabapentin doesn't have extreme ill affects on anyone unless you skip a dose. I do know of people who say the drug can be addicted in high doses. Considering that you're just starting the medication, I wouldn't guess you'll be on a high dose.
Avatar n tn NOW, I am scared. I am on gabapentin also. 600 mg.3 times a day for back pain. I don't sleep and when I do finally get to sleep, I do not want to wake up, get up , nothing!! I can't really tell if it is helping my pain or not but I need to know that. I do know that I can't do without the prednisone I am on for Arthritis. My Back hurts almost All the time. If I stand to long, if I sit to long, If I lay to long, you name it. I have had two back surgery's just this yr.
Avatar f tn I see my new endocrinologist for that tomorrow. Good luck with the gabapentin. I hope it works as well for you as it seems to for me.

Avatar n tn I am sure I have had this sleep problem for years but was not aware of sleep disorders. What are the long term effects?
Avatar n tn t happen anymore. Amitriptyline is a Tricyclic antidepressant. It is perscribed to me for sleep not for depression. My doc told me that it can be caused by a chemical inbalance. So if you have depression or anxiety taking meds for that can help also.

Avatar m tn So you did have a sleep study, you did sleep enough for them to get substantial information, and there was no sleep apnea? What did your sleep study say about limb movements? Only reason I ask is it took at least 3 sleep studies before my sleep apnea showed up because my legs moved so much I didn't sleep well enough during the studies to experience the sleep apnea at that time, even though it was present at the times my legs were calmer.
