Gabapentin for dogs dosage

Common Questions and Answers about Gabapentin for dogs dosage

neurontin

Gabapentin is used for epilepsy treatment, although it is sometimes used to treat neuropathic pain. I don't think it will help you much as it doesn't bond to receptors as opiates do.
Imodium, Imodium, Imodium (liquid or pills if the liquid can't be found or you can't swallow it) will help. I took double the dosage for a few days (personal choice) and it helped so much..even with the withdrawals in general and the opiate trots which sucked. Hydrate and eat! Even if it is just a little every hour or so. You have to eat something to keep your energy up as much as possible. If you have Restless legs..it is hit or miss what works. Walking seemed to help me some.
I train my own service dogs to aid me. I am a painter and a writer. I started riding horses for therapy last year when my balance was gone for bicycling. I have symptoms. My life changes but I adapt because I have to. You are a loving mother I can tell. I do not know what your boy will be diagnosed with. Then if it is MS no one knows what his path will be. We all have different damage so our experiences are a little different. Have courage and take it one step at a time.
He also suffers from noise anxiety and becomes extremely destructive ( tearing house apart behavior)around loud noises(fireworks, gunshots, thunder etc). He has been taking Gabapentin and Fluoxetine for the noise anxiety for 1.5 years. We have moved him into a secure safe room and that limits the destruction. I'm looking for any advice on other things that I could do to stop the seizures. Since I started the meds , 4 days ago he is occasionally weak in the rear legs .
It is odd how some meds work for some and not others like Carolyn and the gabapentin...it did nothing for me but cause side effects.....
I'm so sorry for not checking earlier! Fortunately for me (AND for you), Savas was board hopping and gave you some EXCELLENT advice. Phenobartibal can be a very difficult drug for a dog to adjust to. It not only affects the sense of smell in some cases, it can make them very lethargic and it takes them a while to learn how to fight the effects of the drug and go on like normal.
to look for a real paying job w/Health Ins and bennys, cleaning my own house VS having someone else do it, taking my pooch to the park and/or for walks, bathing my dog VS having the groomer do it, brushing my dog daily, washing my dogs eyes every morning to get the sleep out, etc).
After doing a lot of research online I stumbled upon Gabapentin which is a anti-seizure medication but they also use it for arthritis pain. As luck would have it the medication sounded familiar. Sure enough, I have 2 bottles in my med drawers from when I had a seizure for no reason last year. I am taking 1 - 400mg tablet 3 times a day and today is day number 2 and I cannot believe how this has helped me.I actually cooked and was not thinking about my pain.
I will be having a second sleep study done next week followed by a daytime study as well. The doctor is specifically looking for narcolepsy and/or an Upper airway restriction. I have lots of short term memory loss and excessive daytime sleepiness as well. Sleep apnea has been ruled out as of this point. The newest symptom I am experiencing is dreaming while awake. I can be standing by the sink or working at the computer and dream- not daydream though actually have a dream.
Ask your doc about Gabapentin (Neurontin), it helped me get off of a 240mg/day Oxycodone addiction in 4 days (still had minor withdrawals symptoms but it was easily manageable)... The great thing about that stuff is that it's very cheap and it works well if taken right, so it won't be a huge expense for you. Good luck!
You could try giving her a little pedialyte, which is just good in general for diarrhea. I'm not sure of the dosage for a toy poodle though--I would guess just 2 or 3 ml... But that's just a guess. I would google that before giving her any... We feed a high quality carb-free diet (Flint River Ranch Fish and Chips kibble mixed with Back To Basics organ meat kibble). I don't know if it helps dogs with seizures at all, but carb-free diets are recommended for children with epilepsy.

I am having a hard time stopping and I know I need to . I have taken this for a long time. First, I was prescribed this med and then I found other ways to get it. Knowbody knows I take it as much as I do. Anyone....have some advice?
I've been feeling like I was going crazy for a long time. And in addition to that; the scary suicidal ideation. The suicidal ideation vanished and returns ONLY if I get a flare up of withdrawal symptoms. That happens if I get over stressed. So i need some coping mechanisms. At the moment; "I am STILL ALVE!?" Is a pretty good coping mechanism! :) Love and healing, Emily PS. No Tramadol Withdrawal symptoms today .... :) YAY!
They have now tried three different anti-anxiety medications starting with a low dosage and now to a higher dosage for over 7 months now. I started with Atavan, then Xanex twice a day and then upped to three times a day which helped some, but has not cured the rash and only just barely keeps it from wanting to kill myself. Then my doctor retired and the new doctor did not like me taking Xanex three times a day and switched me to Valium twice a day, the symptoms got substantially worse.
Oxycontin.- While awaiting the scan results I was given oxycontin for pain relief, this seemed to do the trick for 2 weeks, 10mg 2x a day, then things hurt again so up the dose went 20mg 2x a day, then 40mg 2x a day, then 80mg 2x a day and up to 120mg 2x a day, recognise the scenereo anyone??..

Since those are concurrent infections, and the possibility that the bacteria is in soft tissue and not in the bloodstream and the possiblility that there are over 300 Borrelia strains that there are no tests for, my doc decided it was prudent to treat as opposed to not. I have been put on Neurontin and Gabapentin for nerve pain issues, Omnicef, Minocyn, Azithromycin with Flagyl on every 3rd week. 2 weeks on, 1 week off abx. Plus all the other nutracells.
I think this place attracts some of the most intelligent and caring people in the world. So gratifying. I haven't posted for a very long time ... but I will always keep this thread going. I remember so well the desperation I had to hear from anyone ... anyone about how they got off. Now there's years worth of posts from people round the world who kicked Tram.
I've been using gabapentin for a few years now and have found it's the only thing that has worked for me. I've had no side effects other than maybe (and I say maybe) a little drowsiness. Other than that, I can go itch free for the night. I can take up to 2400 mgs a day, but haven't reached that dosage yet. During the bad times I take about 1800 mgs a day. Also, during real intense times, I gob mineral ice on my arms before going to bed.
