gabapentin for anxiety dosage

The only possible scenario that I can think of to use gabapentin for balance is that it is given for neuropathy (nerve pain ) and the doc thinks perhaps the nerve pain will go away and you will have increased proprioception (the sense that tells us where are body parts, i.e. arms and legs, feet, etc. in relation to the ground and other body parts). Still I think that's a HUGE stretch, even off-label.

I also applaud Gabapentin (neurontin) it works well for me also but does take some tapering or getting used to, I should say

A couple days ago I increased my Carbamazapine as I was getting tired of waiting for Gabapentin to have a noticable effect on the pain. My neurologist is hesitant to prescribe Tileptal (Oxcarbazapine).

Last night my BP was 154/84 and pulse was 92 with the severe dizziness and jello legs. I took all my meds I take for anxiety, klonopin, gabapentin and vistaril and just laid there and tried to stay calm. I was shaking all over, like the freezing chills but wasn't cold. It took about 2 hrs for the attack to go away and my vitals to return to normal. It was very scary. This is the 3rd time I have had an attack that severe.

I would talk to your doctor and see if another drug or lower dosage is more appropriate for your situation.

I'm going from 600 mg 1x day of gabapentin to 600 mg 3x day. I think that I can't just jump it like that. What has worked for you? My PCP did the increase not my [useless] neuro, and he didn't say I need to increase slowly. I'm just assuming that... since the guy who put me on 600 mg had me start with 300 for a few days then 600.

ve never used magnesium for anxiety but the issue for me is more chronic and ongoing. Is your family at all supportive or friends? Just curious, I do best when I feel cared for during it all.

I became addicted to oxycodone 15mg in 2012 after my first back surgery, obviously I was on them while I was in the hospital for 7days after surgery then took them for about 4 days once I got home. I tried to stop and became sick and realized I was addicted. I go to a pain clinic for my chronic pain. Since then I had surgery on my elbow and just 2 weeks ago I had another back surgery. My oxycodone has never been upped in dosage so of course it doesn't help with the pain.

When I went to the pain management doctor, I think that he did not quite believe the diagnosis from the neurologist, and informed me that he would give me a "very low dose" of the steroid injection. Hi, so I've been using gabapentin for withdrawal from hydromorphone. I used the hydromorphone to get off of fentanyl which Id been addicted to for 2 years. So I badly tapered of the hydro, and have been self medicating with gabapentin to nullify my withdrawal symptoms (about 2400mg 2x a day is what I've found at this point works best after establishing a tolerance).

For gabapentin, the person who fails to decrease dosage over time risks having seizures - even if they never had them before. The decreasing dosage should be prescribed by your doctor just as he was the one to determine your initial dosing schedule and any increases along the way.

Has anyone expierence swelling of the face with gabapentin? I know it can be a side effect. My question is; Is this an allergic reaction or is the dosage too much? Actually my face feels stiff at times and cheeks get sore. If it is the gabapentin, what would be the alternative? Thank you med help family........

A few weeks ago at 11 am I was having some TN pain, and discovered I had not taken my 8 am meds, which includes 300mg Gabapentin. I am convinced Gabapentin works for me, and I am at the correct dosage...for now. If your Doc had ever experienced TN he would not postpone a prescription to treat it, guaranteed!

One, have they and ARE they helping to control your anxiety? Two, what is your alternate plan for addressing the anxiety? Are you in therapy? The only issue with stopping the meds is that we get into a sense of false security that we don't "need" them anymore, or we want to "tough it out" on our own...only to have some pretty awful rebound anxiety as a result. I've done this to myself a few times....

I had an episode of burning on my forhead and cheeks and pins and needle feelings in which I started Gabapentin for. Over a 4 week period I gradually increased the dosage to what I am on now, 300mg three times daily. This seems to help greatly with the nerve pain but I started after 2 weeks to develop a very itchy neck, ear lobe, and face. My face sometimes looked like it was burned. Im just wondering if anyone has had this while taking Gabapentin.

Hi Candy i have been on Gabapentin for about a year and 9 months. The dosage im on is 900mgs in the morning and 900mgs at bed time, i have not had any adverse side effects or weight gain in fact, since i started this which could be coincidence i have lost a total of around 42lbs. As i said it might have nothing to do with the medication i dont excersise (dont have the energy) i have no explanation for it. Well thats my 2 cents worth hope everything works out for you in the end.

ve not had any negative experiences with it to report, and a LOT of my patients were on it...some for neurological pain, some for depression/anxiety, some for seizures, etc. It actually has a lot of indications. I'd say give it a try, especially if your doc has instructed you to decrease your Xanax dose already. Let us know how you're doing!

For those of you who take Gabapentin (Neurontin): Just curious what side effects you have experienced (and at what dosage), and how long they lasted? I just started this last weekend, 300mg once a day at bedtime. I am having a really hard time waking up in the morning and for the first half of the day I feel a little "loopy" or my head feels "swimmy"....if that makes any sense.....

I would like to know what the suggested dosage would be. Also, I was wondering if anyone ever tried acupuncture with any success. I would appreciate any advice.

ve been having them for maybe 8 weeks now. I am on Gabapentin 900 mg x3 per day but found out that it was the Gabapentin causing the anxiety state, heart palpitations, difficulty breathing, as well as the zaps of anxiety that plunges my eyes open right when I am drifting into sleep. You situation may be that it was one of your medication causing this.
