Avatar m tn However as the oral HRT does not suit you, other medicines are available for dealing with hot flushes like clonidine. Consult your Doctor regarding the same. Hope this helps. Take care.

Avatar f tn Hi, I was just discussing hot flashes with someone who works for a Naturopath. She complained to him of her terrible hot flashes causing her to get up several times each night to towel off and change. The Naturopath recommended Vitamin E supplements. Not sure what dosage. But she started taking them and said she hasn't had night sweats since. Worth a shot. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I am now on Soy Isoflavones - 40 mg daily and it has minimized to making the hot flashes disappear. Most people take more than that dosage but I seem to do very well on low doses.

958842 tn?1266512599 Good morning ladies ;) I posted this question on another forum, but I am STILL getting HOT FLASHES & I'm 3DPO & CD15. My HOT FLASHES come & go, last less than a minute or so. I've never been on clomid before, is this NORMAL to get hot flashes AFTER O? I don't think I'll ever take clomid again, I had very little side effects, really just the HOT FLASHES, but I never knew FOR SURE when I O'd, which for me is WEIRD! IF I do meds again, it will be injecebles!!!
Avatar m tn I did some reading into Gabapentin and it sounds like exactly the type of medication you need. It is used to treat burning sensations, hot flashes, restless leg syndrome, tingling and numbness. It has a low addiction rate, but it should not be stopped cold turkey. A slow taper is recommended for any person wishing to come off it.
Avatar f tn While Gabapentin is used as anticonvulsant, it is also indicated for shingles or postherpetic neuralgiaand also for hyperhidrosis, headaches, diabetic neuropathy, hot flashes, and fibromyalgia. Common side effects of gabapentin include dizziness, somnolence, fatigue, fluid retention, nausea and vomiting. Take as prescribed and check with your doctor if you have any side effects. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I relate hormones to hot flashes, that is, the change of hormone levels. And fat cells both produce hormones in small amounts, and release them when the person loses a little weight. When you talk to your doctor, be sure to discuss that relationship, especially if you are dieting and managing to lose a little weight. Good luck!
Avatar n tn I am 51 and began taking Effexor XR 75 mg as prescribed by my physician to help reduce the hot flashes. I've taken this same level of Rx for 3 years. It has helped to reduce the hot flashes, however, I have other side effects that concern me. I am now trying to wean myself off the Effexor and the side effects are significant (vertigo, confusion...) and the hot flashes seem worse than ever! Is there anything I can do to reduce or eliminate these without antidepressants?
620048 tn?1358018235 When i saw my MS Dr. on Friday we talked about the gabapintin, i originally started it for my headaches. But I stil am having headaches and I am not sure what else they are doing for me so she is having me cut back on them. We are tring to get me off some of my cache of meds...so I cut back from 4 a day to 2 a day. Didnt think much about it but i am feeling like crap , headaches are worse and feel like i am having hot flashes, I havent had hot flashes for a long time now.
Avatar m tn I am a 61-year old woman who had a hysterectomy at age 40 but my ovaries were left intact. Since I no longer had a period after that, it was difficult to determine exactly when menopause started. My doctor put me on HRT at age 48. I took those for 7 years and then decided to stop after all the negative reports about HRTs came out. Once I stopped the HRTs, I started with very severe hot flashes and night sweats.
20803321 tn?1513921914 I also had a hysterectomy at that time. Estradiol and Gabapentin at the dose I am taking for hot flashes doesnt help this pain. What could be wrong? Thank you.
655875 tn?1295695107 I took 100mg of Gabapentin last night before bed for the first time. I woke up at 1am with hot flashes. When I got up at 3am for the day I noticed I have a sunburn rash on my cheek bones. My face feels really hot. Is this a side effect from the medicine or an allergy? It's 1pm and I still have the sunburn rash, the whole right side of my face is red.
Avatar n tn I am a breast cancer survivor for 8 years now; I have severe hot flashes; every 45 minutes day and night; it has totally affected my quality of life...and ability to sleep; I recently found out I could take this drug. I am on 200 mg nightly; so far I have been waking up and had insomnia; will this get better and go away; I have only taken it for two nights; also how long does it take before one might notice their hot flashes have decrease? My dr. said I might have to go up to 400 mg.
Avatar f tn The only possible scenario that I can think of to use gabapentin for balance is that it is given for neuropathy (nerve pain ) and the doc thinks perhaps the nerve pain will go away and you will have increased proprioception (the sense that tells us where are body parts, i.e. arms and legs, feet, etc. in relation to the ground and other body parts). Still I think that's a HUGE stretch, even off-label.
1305767 tn?1361192676 My heart rate keeps increasing and I get hot flashes and sweaty palms, anxiety attacks. Also I keep having spells of vertigo which has happened to me before with SSRI discontinuation syndrome.
1983221 tn?1333506185 I also applaud Gabapentin (neurontin) it works well for me also but does take some tapering or getting used to, I should say

Avatar f tn Pregnancy night sweats are similar to hot flashes, although they take place during the night as a woman sleeps as opposed to hot flashes that occur during the day. Night sweats during pregnancy, which is also known as "nocturnal hyperhydrosis" during pregnancy occur because the body´s temperature gauge begins to malfunction as a result of hormonal imbalance that occurs during pregnancy.
5461254 tn?1368376816 I was honestly scared to death. I was having hot flashes and cold flashes in my chest, back, arms, even in my feet! Yuck!!!!
Avatar f tn Hello: hoping somebody can help me. I have been on Premarin.625mg for 7 months and did very well. Before that, I had tried everything else with very little improvement. Before Premarin I was having hot flashes, anxiety, and terrible insomnia. After the first few days of taking Premarin, I began to notice great improvement. My hot flashes went away and insomnia disappeared. I had a few bumps along the way but then everything balanced out. Now, the old symptoms have returned with a vengeance.
