Avatar m tn My father came from Vietnam and is 80 yrs old. His blood pressure fluctuates so much that his doctor would not permit him leaving town visiting his family. So, he is miserable and depressed. Would you please help? Thanks. His blood pressure fluctuates from 120/70 then 190/94 (3-4PM). So, he takes 1/2 of Clonidine HCL (0.1mg) then it drops to 58/47... eventually it comes back to 120/70 at night.
Avatar m tn Hi, blood pressure and pulse fluctuations can occur. The flight response. With pain the blood pressure and pulse rate can go up and this is a normal phenomenon. So, please dont worry and continue with your medications. You can try lifestyle changes like don't add additional salt in your diet, exercise regularly and practice relaxation techniques to lower your stress levels. And see if this helps. Regards.
Avatar n tn ve noticed quite a few people seem to share my symptoms of generalized anxiety and elevated heart rate and blood pressure. During times when I do not feel good, I can become labile and have a resting heart rate of around 100 to 120. I've bounced back and forth between cardiologists and psychiatrists, and unfortunately this doesn't seem to be a very well understood issue. This seems to be seasonal. During the summer months, I'm perfectly fine.
Avatar f tn I am a 39 year old female with diagnosed eczema, alopecia areata, high blood pressure, migraines, increased sweating, widespread musical and joint pain. About 3 months ago I was diagnosed with peripheral nueropathy to both feet. I am not diabetic. I was prescribed gabapentin, total of 700 mg a day. Gabapentin worked for a month or 2. Recently I have had a 5 day "flare up" in which the pins and needles and burning sensation seems to be traveling to boys of my knees.

1831849 tn?1383228392 The nurse who called in the Rx mentioned that it would take a while for the Gabapentin to get up to the required levels in my blood. I have seen about a 60% improvement in my foot pain. How long does it take for the levels to reach maximum efficacy? If 6 days is sufficient I think I'll ask about upping the dose.
Avatar f tn You have to go for reduction of your blood pressure/blood sugar/cholesterol whatever is the cause of stroke and then do physiotherapy. With lot of commitment and dedication from your end you will gain strength. Do not lose hope and get well soon bouncing!
Avatar n tn Constant pains in the neck and headaches ( different from my migraines), just recently I have these ice pick type pains in my head when I cough, sneeze , bend over or strain in any way. I have never had a blood patch. I was told that because I had previous back surgery around the L4-5 that I would be at greater risk for infection if I have the patch. I felt all along I was still leaking fluid but could never get anyone to help. Very confused on what my next step should be.
1831849 tn?1383228392 It works really well for my fasciculations and some pain, however it causes sudden drops in my blood pressure and racing heart. (<1% of people get this symptom though).
Avatar f tn I tried the gabapentin and it spiked my blood pressure.

Avatar f tn Make an appointment to see your doctor to discuss this problem with him. If he has not prescribed for you to increase the medication, then it really is not wise to increase it without his supervision. It may be that this could be a side effect from increasing the dose. You doctor will be able to advise you with regard to this. If you are having a problem with trying to pee, take a urine sample with you when you see your doctor.
Avatar f tn Just wanted to know if anyone else has this feeling. I have been having a pressure feeling in my head that comes and goes. I went to the ER because I am undiagnoised and just didn't feel right. They checked for a stroke and sent me home. Thank goodness it wasn't that. So now I am still experiencing the same pressure feeling although now I get extremely dizzy.
Avatar m tn I like extremely deep pressure and no massage therapist could apply that amount of pressure. And those self-massagers are absolutely worthless at reducing my pain. As for medications, it can take several titrations and maybe additions of other prescription medicines that when optimized, adds up to significant pain relief. You have to be persistant. Don't act "up-tight" with the doctor. Be honest and express how much pain hinders your life like a close friend.
Avatar m tn diagnosed stroke 2/08/2010 hospitalized for 8 days, diabetes and high blood pressure found at this time. being treated. numbness as call it is left side arm, leg. face , i have complete use of all these, just the numbness. is there anything that i can do to get this seemingly back to normal or close to .
576796 tn?1217576256 Hi, yes, both drugs are associated with dizziness, need is to adjust the doses and please get your blood pressure checked too. Please consult your doctor for the same. Also, some patients develop tolerance to dizziness but if the symptoms are affecting your daily routine, need is to consult doctor. The incidence of dizziness is quite high with both gabapenti as well as buspirone.Other option is to replace buspirone with other drug from the same group.

Avatar m tn 00 pm after taking (10 mg melatonin), (50 mg Trazodone), (100 mg Gabapentin). That has worked for 2 years giving me 7-8 hours uninterupted sleep. However, for the last couple of months I find myself waking up around 4:30 pm and can’t go back to sleep unless I take an additional Trazadone and Gabapentin. Do you see any harm in that…….. or should I consider another sleep prescription? Thank you for your help.
Avatar m tn I had surgery almost two years ago to remove a cancerous tumor. Ever since I have been dealing with many health issues. I have cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, chronic pain and depression due to all I am going through. I take the following meds each day: Gabapentin 12 x 300mg Hydromorph 2 x 4.5 mg Percocet 8 x 5mg Amitryptaline 3 x 25 mg Cymbalta 90 mg Amlodipine 5 mg My pain is constant and I am having a hard time dealing with everything.
293157 tn?1285873439 Because I seem to be responding better to this latter drug, I am now slowly weaning off the gabapentin. I guess if the pain increases as I go off the gabapentin, this will tell me it was helping more than I realized. I have no side effects from the gabapentin, even at such a high dose. I do find the 50mg amitriptyline makes me very drowsy, and may need to scale it back to 40mg if this side effect continues.
603838 tn?1238534975 Just had labs done for a myriad of symptoms (rising diastolic blood pressure, severe sensitivity to cold, cold chills when it is warm, severe anxiety etc...) Avatar f tn BP is usually normal, started having headaches from a pinched nerve in my neck (occipital neuralgia) and from my first dr visit for that my blood pressure has gradually ramped up. Only meds I'm taking are gabapentin, flexeril and tylenol. Non of which are suppose to mess with blood pressure. I have been to my dr and was put on hydrochlorothiazide 25mg daily, that was 3 days ago. Anybody else that uses this, how long before it started to do it's thing?
1701959 tn?1488551541 Doc has recommended steroid injections, going to see pain doc in a few days. Steroid pack did NOTHING, Advil is a joke. They said I can try Gabapentin. Has anyone had luck with it? Also how did the steroid injections work? Anyone recover from a neck nerve issue without the need for surgery? Thanks all!
Avatar m tn Hi, I've been taking Zoloft 100mg for OCD for the last 4 weeks, my dr increased me to 150mg. Is it normal to have nervousness and increased sweating and headache when increasing dosage? I was feeling good on 100 mg and side effects were subsiding. How long will it take to adjust to 150? I also was just put on 10mg of lisiniprol for high blood pressure. And I'm taking gabapentin for insomnia from the Zoloft. I really appreciated any advice!
Avatar f tn m on day 9 from Oxycodone, and had an attack of RLS and restless spine today which was driving me crazy. My doc prescribed me Clonidine (an old blood pressure med), and it usually helps I suffer from chronic pain and took Gabapentin out of desperation, as well, and things calmed down, Keep going, we can do this! .
Avatar m tn Hello, I am new to this group. I have had more than 85 blood tests since I was diagnosed with Lyme in July of 2014. All have been negative. I have been on may drugs for pain and currently on Gabapentin for vocal cord/coughing issues and leg pain (knee, calf, left side back). I don't think it is helping much. Is anyone else on Gabapentin?
