Avatar m tn I was prescribed gabapentin after surgery, for the nerve pain I was having in my legs. The dosage was gradually increased to 600 mg, three times a day. It really did the trick. The doctor told me i would be on the meds for about 6 mos. Over the last 10 days I have been gradually decreasing the dosage and am now on 1 600mg tablet at night. Has anybody had trouble getting to sleep at night and if yes, what did you do?
Avatar n tn Yes, I've been having some pain in my left calf to heel also, along with bilateral pelvic pain. I'm constantly feel like I have a major toothache with stabbing pain with movement.
Avatar n tn NOW, I am scared. I am on gabapentin also. 600 mg.3 times a day for back pain. I don't sleep and when I do finally get to sleep, I do not want to wake up, get up , nothing!! I can't really tell if it is helping my pain or not but I need to know that. I do know that I can't do without the prednisone I am on for Arthritis. My Back hurts almost All the time. If I stand to long, if I sit to long, If I lay to long, you name it. I have had two back surgery's just this yr.
Avatar f tn I was on gabapentin (1200mg) a day for about 6 months but it didn't work for me. I have chronic back pain but it doesn't seem to be nerve related like they thought at first. It may be myofascial pain syndrome. My sister in law has nerve pain and she takes a combination of drugs such as a small amount of Lyrica , a small amount of an antidepressant, a small amount of lamictal and so forth. Be open to whatever the right combination is for you.
Avatar f tn I also use Yoga and Mindfulness Meditation and Therapeutic Dressage (horse back riding) for pain control. A lot of my pain is made worse by a weak core and stress. I have to keep my core strong, stretch, and use mindfulness to keep the stress down.
Avatar f tn second day without the pain pills! But the doctor today gave me gabapentin for pain is it addictive? I dont need another addiction.
Avatar f tn 5/325 every four hours it was becoming a problem and not releaving my pain so doctor switched me to 800 mg gabapentin 3 times a day I asked him about withdrawals from the hydros and he said I would have none just take the gabapentin well I took only half this morning and became really dizzy and sleepy so laid down four hours later took 200 mg still dizzy and spacy is this normal or is it part of the withdrawl fro the hydro?
11079760 tn?1483386130 Anyone else deal with a lot of back pain? My spine currently is screaming at me from the top to the bottom - literally. I am sitting here trying to work, but I am in incredible pain. I tried Gabapentin last night - zero relief. I tried 2 Aleve this morning & got some relief for a couple of hours. I'm about 1/2 way through that dose and am back to feeling miserable. My head is in on the fun, too, but I'm guessing that is because of my neck. UGH. Maybe a stiff drink???
Avatar f tn Im going to start to slowly reduce the Gabapentin in hope that the itch subsides and hope the neuropathic pain does not return. Just wanted to put this out there in hope that someone can help me.
Avatar n tn I was taking Gabapentin 300 mg for extreme nerve pain in my foot, it worked like magic for approx. 3 months then stopped being effective. Any Thoughts - Reasons?
Avatar f tn I have taken Gabapentin before for pain and found it about as useless as a screen door in a submarine. Yeah I know the "top doctors" prescribe it. They also used to prescribe blood-letting. In addition it seems to lower a persons IQ by about forty points (I know...that's a figure of speech), cause loss of memory, headaches, and loss of libido. I think there are many alternatives to be considered before using Gabapentin, such as a frontal lobotomy.
293157 tn?1285873439 Because I seem to be responding better to this latter drug, I am now slowly weaning off the gabapentin. I guess if the pain increases as I go off the gabapentin, this will tell me it was helping more than I realized. I have no side effects from the gabapentin, even at such a high dose. I do find the 50mg amitriptyline makes me very drowsy, and may need to scale it back to 40mg if this side effect continues.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am on 3000 mg. of Gabapentin now too, and I'm finding it does not seem to help the pain and spasms in my legs. I am also on Baclofen, and tried Zanaflex but coudl not tolerate the Zanaflex., even at a small dose. The Baclofen seems to help with spacisity, but not the pain, so we still have the stiffness and pain, and that ICE COLD feeling that we get in the calf muslcles of my legs. Why are you going off the Gabapentin?
Avatar f tn Well test results came back as carpal tunnel. Now I still have the neck pain and numbness and now have severe back pain and very weak in legs I can barely stand up!
Avatar f tn //www.healthline.com/health/back-pain/sciatic-stretches I agree that pain management seems premature here.
Avatar n tn They are both used to treat nerve pain (neuropathic pain), but gabapentin can be useful in treating other pain syndromes, like the pain of peripheral neuropathy, or the pain of fibromyalgia. The only way to know if this medication will help is to try it, but I repeat, it is not used to substitute for opiate treatment, so you will most likely continue your morphine and oxycodone while trying it. Pain management, like football, is a game of inches.
Avatar f tn When I did that, I decided to give the gabapetin another try Even though I now am back on pain meds due to a surgery complication that has yet to be resolved (I was three weeks away from the oxy at the time), I will say that my wd's this past round were not as brutal as a flat out ct stint I did back in April..So, I believe the gabapentin did help some. Something else my doctor prescribed which you may want to ask yours about is clonidine. It is suppose to help restabilize your sleep..
Avatar n tn I have suffered from chronic back of leg/hamstring pain for 10 years. Pain in both hamstrings - that is worse when sitting or sleeping. During deep massage, the pain can be brought on by extremely deep pressure, which for me, feels like scratching an itch. It comes on for months and them it goes away for months. I don't sleep well, I'm a light sleeper and I have 3 small children that are up a lot. I am in pain right now and even taking oxycondon doesn't help.
Avatar f tn If given a choice without cost factors pros and cons of Gabapentin versus Lyrica for long standing neuopathy pain in my back, legs and feet from surgery over 10 years ago...Any advise appreciated..
4186651 tn?1357830957 Has anyone else taken Gabapentin for all of these pains neuralgia migraines? I'm petrified to take this drug because of all the bad side affects! Did it help or harm anyone? Or should I wait to see the NS first before I take it?
Avatar n tn I have a protrueding disk on L4 and 5. left leg pain down the back of my leg my calf pain is very bad down to my numbing toes my DR.
Avatar f tn t until I began taking first Lyrica, then Gabapentin and lastly Topomax (for PHN due to shingles) that she finally realized that part of her pain was being caused by the Gabapentin. While on the Gabapentin I noticed that I had pain in places unrelated to the PHN. I also had swelling in both ankles as well as hip pain, shin pain, and numbness in my legs, along with many other side affects that were less than comforting.
Avatar f tn Hi could anyone help me please?
4943237 tn?1428991095 It started off as flashes of pain in my left arm so I upped the Gabapentin by another 600 mg and this seemed to do the trick for a few days. Now, 10 days later the pain is unbearable, with my back feeling like I've pulled all the muscles on the top left side and when I flex my neck forward it sends a bolt of pain down my back. I'm thinking that curling up and dying is a good option at the moment it's so bad.
Avatar f tn A deep URQ Sphincter of oddi/biliary type pain (as I get the pain radiating into my back, bright coloured/dark urine, and nausea) and also perhaps a scar tissue/nerve entrapment pain from the actual gallbladder surgery back in 09. For the past couple of weeks, I have been still experiencing severe pain, but it occured to me last night that it has been the more URQ SOD type pain, and not the tight band around my middle type pain (which I find is relieved a lot by heat packs and posture)......
