Gabapentin and wellbutrin

Common Questions and Answers about Gabapentin and wellbutrin

neurontin

Just do a google search on antidepressants and rapid cycling. I was ultra rapid cycling taking an antipsychotic, lamotrigine, and wellbutrin. I only started getting better when I did the research on antidepressants and insisted that I no longer take them. Very odd medication choices. I've taken neurontin but it was for pain related issues not mood. Have you been unable to take standard medication like lamotrigine, lithium, or diprovalex?
Gabapentin 2400 mg, Pristiq 50 mg, Wellbutrin 400 mg, and Propranolol. Those meds do nothing for me anymore. Gabapentin should not exceed 300 mg/day for people with Fibromyalgia. Less is more. A great book: The Fibromyalgia Advocate.
I am currently using 8mg of buprenorphine,1800mg of gabapentin and 150mg of wellbutrin daily as medicine for pain management and nerve pain. Now I'cant obtain gabapentin anymore and would like to transfer to oxycodone 120mg daily as a substitute for buprenorphine and gabapentin.I would like to know is such change possible.
He was a mechanic, and many other things in his career and has had a devistating attack to his brain by Gabapentin. What I mean is he was a smart guy who was always on top of what ever was going on and now he acts like he has had a labotimy (sp?). I found him petting the coffee pot like it was a dog, saying how well it worked and how it was a mystery to him. Is that normal? I did not have these issues when I took it, I just always felt like it wasn't doing anything for me.
(On a side note I was taking gabapentin for my Nystagmus earlier in the year, and experienced a decrease in vision, hard time converging.) Gabapentin was said to help people with Nystagmus but the doctor's suspected the bupropion may have played a part in this. My question is, if bupropion causes blurred vision and sexual side effects, is there an alternative for me?
My pain is controlled with NO gabapentin ick, dip or weave. I can stay awake during the day (thanks to CPAP and Nuvigil) and long enough at night to get myself tucked in properly. Must say though--I think I've only used Ativan to help me get though a night once or twice since that first dose of gabapentin. Maybe sleep is easier when pain isn't interrupting all the time ;) I needed to go this slow initially from physical necessity.
Additionally, 30 mg of Adderall in the am, and 300 mg of wellbutrin. I am still weak, struggling to keep my head up and unable to focus. I am also on synthroid, which has provided no relief. I went off gabapentin to see if it was the cause (although my fatigue began in October 2007 and I have taken it since October 2006) but saw no improvement in my alertness. I sleep excessively.
[Thinking out loud] I think I'm going to push for Wellbutrin + Zoloft + Gabapentin, and I can come back to Strattera + Zoloft + Gabapentin, if it continues to work. I'll stay with it for a little while to see where I'm at first. In researching Provigil, I found a couple dopamine agonists (mostly for RLS and Parkinson's), but they are used off-label for depression. Mirapex or Requip might be a good compliment to what I'm taking.
There are other anti-depressants out there that people use to ward off hot flashes - I use Wellbutrin and it seems to work fairly well. Please ask your Dr about several different names and do lots of research - Good luck on your surgery!
pain was the overall reason, but my therapist just gave me a huge reason, and for that I am grateful. A pain management doc started me on Lyrica about 3 weeks ago. My mood has gone South since I have been on it. I didn't correlate the 2. She said that she thinks they need to take Lyrica and some other med to quit smoking off the market. Or let the patients know ALL the risks to these meds. Lyrica can lead to a very bad depression and high suicidal thoughts. 2 of her pts.
I have been taking Vicodin ES 325/750 for pain (although I should be taking it every night), supposed to be taking Gabapentin, but it makes me too sleepy during the day, and Oxycodone 5mg for pain days. I can't stay awake during the day, so was just prescribed Provigil 200mg, which doesn't really work. I drink 5hr energy drinks, coffee, take No-Doz, and/or sometimes Adderall XR to just make it through a day because I am so tired.
I was already on Wellbutrin 150 mg twice a day and a diet, by the way,and struggling with depression over my weight. Two years later, I am at 200 mg per day of Topomax, headache free with no change in the flavor that I can apprciate. I am also wearing a size 6 working to a size 4. One caution. If you have anorexic tendencies, as I do, be very careful. I forget to eat, don't want to eat, strive for that smaller size, although everyone tells me that that is enough weight loss.
I was diagnosed with depression at age 18, and have tried almost all kinds of antidepressants, from SSRI's (which don't help), tricyclics (nortriptyline as an add-on), and SNRI's (Effexor XR gave me severe tachycardia and anxiety, so I switched to Cymbalta which kinda help but seems to bring out the sadness in me even more), and atypicals like Remeron, Wellbutrin and trazodone. I had 8 sessions of ECT but didn't seem to have much improvement.
Devra upped my wellbutrin and I officially started Gabapentin. I was locked down in lunch, which rocked. With nick and Dana and Alex and DJ. It was all fun and such till I got called down and interigated, because of where I stand between classes. I was shaking. Then I heard them saying they were going to get Steve and Jor and I was like yeah, they'll make it better, but they never came to guidance, we all got out of lockdown just as they took them away in handcuffs.
Then went to see Devra, we are weaning off the Gabapentin (from 900mg) and moving my whole Depakote dose to morning- 750mg. Also on Ativan- .5 and Wellbutrin- 200. Then fam and grandparents went out to the Brown Bread restaurant. Then to Steve's, no one home for a while, it was fun. Then he brought up Staci and I got upset. Ain't that fun.
As soon as I get into a place I get so dizzy and my vision is all messed up. I get so hot and sweaty and my heart races. I want my life back. I still dont believe that its just anxiety causing all of this. I feel like I have something else wrong that the doctors cant find even though i have had bloodwork, mri, ekg, and they were all normal. I started taking .25mg of xanax once a day. still dont feel any better yet. So if anybody has any help please give it to me.
In short no common decision about what can be classified as MS and what that doesn't, except the tranquilizers, even them are sort of.' neurontin (gabapentin) is considered one of the safest, true but is weak and some said it works well in the beginning then cause anxiety. Of course it may for some and not for others. So no use in saying this med is good or bad like these questions that pop up in the forum asking whether such and such is good or not. It depends on the individual.
Welcome to Part 6! Please make yourself at home!
i am taking wellbutrin too and feel just like you , not sure what to do now, i just came off neurontin and all but 1 75mg effexor and 300mg wellbutrin and klonapin as needed which is more often than ever now. any magic pills out there? i lost way too much weight too. any advice?
So I dug up some more info that I wanna share ... in case you are dying of curiousity. Or need more info like I do. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http***mb.rxlist.com/rxboard/ultram.pl?noframes;read=3179 not just for breakfast anymore Posted By: mkny Date: Friday, 21 October 2005, at 3:53 a.m.
My name is Crystal, and since October 31st around 3 am, I have been in a constant struggle with problems ranging from clenching chest pains, heart palps, increased heartrate, head jitters/electrical vibrations/sensations through head and spine (like a painful electrical current that radiates up and down my spine), I have had my limbs go tingly, and even one time my right leg went numb and it kind of cocked up a little and went limp, so I was unable to move it...
I have read that the test can be a false positive due to medications and he is on 5 medications right now. (Klonopin, Wellbutrin, Gabapentin, Seroquel and Lithium) That is what I am hoping it is. But I can't just not worry about it. I don't understand how they can tell you not to worry about it. How many people have a false positive result? They say they get a lot, well how much is "a lot?" He is 49 years old. Will his life be shortened if he started having symptoms now?
i was also given wellbutrin and darvacet so that it wasnt cold turkey. i don't know if you have ever taken darvacet but it's like taking NOTHING. oh, im on day one w no vicodin.
It cripples every mind that I've learned about. And I can't believe you're on Serequel and Buspar and Wellbutrin. Frankly your doctor must see a serious mental annomally that he's treating. I'm not wanting to be offensive. It's just an unusual combination and amount to just treat the typical concurrent depression that often accompanies Fibromyalgia. Plus the only treatment I'm hearing is prescriptions, no other therapies.
) - Hydrocodone Oxycodone Anti-depressants - Lexapro - Currently taking Wellbutrin XL - Currently taking Nortriptyline Celexa Prozac Paxil - Complete nightmare Zoloft - Worked well, but suddenly stopped...? Cymbalta Effexor Mirtazapine Amatriptyline Augmenter Drugs - Buspar - Just.....
I am on the mend and they put me on a Wellbutrin/Lithium combo which I am hopeful about.
I have talked to the neurosurgeon who did the surgery and he shrugged his shoulders and said I have no idea and sent me back to my neurologist. He gave me a series of injections in both shoulders and the pain stopped for a couple days but then came right back. Then we tried message therapy, it helps but only for a short period. And I have tried changing my pillows on my bed and sleeping in different positions and nothing seems to help for long term. What can I do?
I am on Gabapentin as a mood stablizer and have been for approx 3 months. My doctors and I chose this medication because of the benefits of pain control for my FMS as well as BPD. I also was on Lexapro for the last 4 weeks and was taken off this med yesterday due to side effects and was started on Lamictal. My question is this......these are both mood stablizers, correct?
However, he said it could NOT be causing me so much pain. He checked out my arm and noticed a hard soft tissue knot, and suggested removing it through surgery and it "might" relieve my pain. So, 3 weeks ago I had the said surgery and it was removed (a hard soft tissue mass about the size of a marble). No, this was not the cyst inside my humerus bone. Anyways, I still have the pain, and it is extremely terrible at night (on a scale of 1 to 10, a 20 at night).
Finally making progress this time around. I do have gabapentin and have taken it a couple times during the process and it does help take the edge off for me. I've been on it for about 6 years intermittently and will go months w/o taking any. It is helping but minimally. I was on wellbutrin for about 5 years and stopped that awhile back.
