gabapentin and wellbutrin

I am currently using 8mg of buprenorphine,1800mg of gabapentin and 150mg of wellbutrin daily as medicine for pain management and nerve pain.Now I'cant obtain gabapentin anymore and would like to transfer to oxycodone 120mg daily as a substitute for buprenorphine and gabapentin.I would like to know is such change possible.

(On a side note I was taking gabapentin for my Nystagmus earlier in the year, and experienced a decrease in vision, hard time converging.) Gabapentin was said to help people with Nystagmus but the doctor's suspected the bupropion may have played a part in this. My question is, if bupropion causes blurred vision and sexual side effects, is there an alternative for me?

Just do a google search on antidepressants and rapid cycling. I was ultra rapid cycling taking an antipsychotic, lamotrigine, and wellbutrin. I only started getting better when I did the research on antidepressants and insisted that I no longer take them. Very odd medication choices. I've taken neurontin but it was for pain related issues not mood. Have you been unable to take standard medication like lamotrigine, lithium, or diprovalex?

boy o boy do I agree with VintageChicken. Your doctor sounds like a prescription nut!. Do you have a diagnosis? or is he just pulling the names of medicine out of his, ah, er, hat? I must say I've never heard of Gabapentin nor Zonegram. I'm sorry to say I have heard of Topamax-simply no place in Fibromyalgia treatment from every report I've heard, read, seen and made from personal experience. It cripples every mind that I've learned about.

Hi, I've been taking Zoloft 100mg for OCD for the last 4 weeks, my dr increased me to 150mg. Is it normal to have nervousness and increased sweating and headache when increasing dosage? I was feeling good on 100 mg and side effects were subsiding. How long will it take to adjust to 150? I also was just put on 10mg of lisiniprol for high blood pressure. And I'm taking gabapentin for insomnia from the Zoloft. I really appreciated any advice!

re on quite a stew -- two different benzos acting on the same neurotransmitter, GABA, one which can be weird for many people (Xanax) especially when combined with another benzo (they tried me on those two at the same time and I got worse) and gabapentin, which basically creates an alternate GABA system alongside the one you're born with.

Gabapentin helps kill withdrawal symptoms coming off opiates... big time. 800 to 1600mg or more. I swear by it. Heard this on bluelight and it worked.. was as Godsend. Hope it works for you too. Do not try to go off suboxone 24mg in 6 days tho! must taper using strips by cutting them down to small slivers then after staying on that for a week or two, jump .. but take small amounts if w/d's are too much.. use gabapentin and jump!!

Finally making progress this time around. I do have gabapentin and have taken it a couple times during the process and it does help take the edge off for me. I've been on it for about 6 years intermittently and will go months w/o taking any. It is helping but minimally. I was on wellbutrin for about 5 years and stopped that awhile back.

I found, per web searching, that some people get migraines from wellbutrin. Is that true? I am so hopeful because I used wellbutrin in my past and it was wonderful for me. I was at the denial stage of my illness and quit taking it, but now I understand I need my medication to live a normal life. I was also having terrible headaches then and I have them better under control due to my taking magnesium daily. Therefore I do not know if it was the wellbutrin aggrivating my headaches or not.

I am on the mend and they put me on a Wellbutrin/Lithium combo which I am hopeful about.

I am currently taking 15 mg of valium a day and just started 100 mg Wellbutrin a day for severe anxiety. The only information I read is that Wellbutrin is for Depression, is this also a medication to help with anxiety?

I began taking Gabapentin for the electricity and muscle spasms in my legs. My initial dose was 100 mg at bedtime. Now, I am up to 100 mg 3 times daily. It has helped greatly, but recently I have been having some break-through spasms. I do not recall having had any "vibrations" from the medication itself.

Gabapentin 2400 mg, Pristiq 50 mg, Wellbutrin 400 mg, and Propranolol. Those meds do nothing for me anymore. Gabapentin should not exceed 300 mg/day for people with Fibromyalgia. Less is more. A great book: The Fibromyalgia Advocate.

The risk that does exist would relate to the fact that alcohol withdrawal tends to lower the seizure threshold and Wellbutrin does the same. And believe it or not, you experience mild alcohol withdrawal during the night after you drink more than two drinks of alcohol (hence the disrupted sleep). I was recently put on wellbutrin and xanax. I had been having severe anxiety attacks. In the past I've taken wellbutrin for depression but got off of it because I felt that was able to cope with my problems on my own without medication. It's been 3 years since I've last taken it and when I took it before I don't remember getting perscribed xanax. So, my questions is...

I would switch gradually to Cymbalta and see what happens rather than being on both. As for the Wellbutrin added to the mix it could help with libido since dopamine is in play. Both Zoloft and Wellbutrin sounds like something you could try before getting on Cymblata. I don't think you shoud mix Cymbalta with Wellbutrin personally.

I am on Gabapentin as a mood stablizer and have been for approx 3 months. My doctors and I chose this medication because of the benefits of pain control for my FMS as well as BPD. I also was on Lexapro for the last 4 weeks and was taken off this med yesterday due to side effects and was started on Lamictal. My question is this......these are both mood stablizers, correct?

Thanks. Called the pharmacist and find Wellbutrin is a SSRI so taking the 5-HTP would not have a benefit. He said one would cancel out the other. Hmm...guess it is time to start riding the bike!

I do think if you keep going with Wellbutrin and Cymbalta you will be doing just fine. Wellbutrin might be unpleasant when taking the first doses, just like any other antidepressant but the side-effects will eventually go away as your body adapts to the medicines. If after 1 month taking both drugs you don't see any improvements then you might consider trying something else but seriously Cymbalta+Wellbutrin is really supposed to give you energy and make you function more normally.

I have been on 200 mg of Wellbutrin, and 20 mg of Prozac for many years. I have never known the connection between dopamine and a decreased TSH reading until today. This would make total sense to me, though. I have symptoms of hypothyroidism, and my T3 and T4 indicate such, however, the TSH levels indicate that I have too much thyroid production.

I have taken gabapentin and xanax for 10+ years without problems. Xanax is a shorter acting benzodiazapine then librium. You may find you need less librium with gabapentin.

Has anyone ever responded to the original questions posted in 2010? I am curious. I have been taking 300 mg Wellbutrin and 200 mg Topamax since May 2016 and have lost approx 30lbs. I wasn't aware of the side affects and my doctor said as long as I feel fine there is no reason to run tests. I just want to make sure others are having this same significant weight loss.

I have now been taking 150mg of Wellbutrin XL for about three months, and have noticed no imprvement. If anything, my libido has diminished even more. Since most people report a boost in sex drive with the Wellbutrin, I was wondering if I am just an atypical case, or if perhaps my dosage is not high enough to experience the improvement. So my doctor supplemented me with 100 mg of wellbutrin. Well, so far I really like the wellbutrin. It gives a boost of energy in the morning, and I feel my sex drive coming back. However, I feel like it's a little ridiculous for me to be taking one drug to counteract another. Anyone else experience this?
