gabapentin and shingles

I had a migraine new to me about a month ago went to a neurologist he prescribed meythpredislone 21 pack and after that was completed he prescribed neurotin gabapentin which I am very afraid of taken but I started taken 1 before I go to bed. Why did the neurologist prescribed that if it was just for headaches?

I am a 52 year old female who had shingles in the groin area on my left leg, and on my left thigh about 8 months ago. I had little pain at the time of the outbreak however, I developed pain on the same side as the shingles outbreak, like electric shocks, which shoot from my groin to my knee. My knee will burn with prolonged standing, and after sitting for prolonged periods, I can hardly walk when I get up.

oms-gabapentin 300 mg was prescibed to my mom for nerve pain and its a seizure medication? Any explinations she isnt epaleptic?

ve noticed for the past week that the sensations and the pain come and go. I rarely take the Oxycodone but still need the Gabapentin on the prescribed basis. I am a 54 yr old male, in pretty good shape, non-smoker, non-drinker. For the past 2 years I have experienced pain in the left side of my chest with tingling in the left arm. 91 and have active shingles lesions present. What do these two blood tests mean and is VZV IgG titer of 1926 dangerously high??? I am immune-compromised and was given the Zostavax vaccine which has triggered reinfection with 5 episodes of shingles in 9 months even with valycyclovir 1500mg daily. A friend of mine took neurontin, tried acupuncture and used ice for his shingles. He still had flare ups on his head where it bothered him last I knew and was using a soft ice pak.

Hi with nerve pain and herpes, its from Shingles not HSV and with shingles you would have a terrible rash, so i would not associate your pain with herpes at all but more of a back injury that can occur from having sex.

It will be best that you consult a neurologist and treatment options could be anticonvulsants such as gabapentin, antideprassants and topical lidocaine lotion. Now a day, few recent treatments could be rhizotomy (cutting the affected nerve to relieve pain) and TENS (a electrical pulse therapy). Hope this helps.

When I try to find info on gababantin I find that it's for the aftermath of shingles. What is the connection to ms and why do ms patients take it?

It has since spread farther right along my gum line and now includes the right side of my tongue and throat. ve had this since February (shingles in January). Nothing helps relieve it and tried to enroll in a clinical trial, but couldn't because of Chronic Kidney Disease and arthritis pain. s only FDA approved uses are for the nerve pain from shingles and as an anti-seizure med for epileptics, but is used off-label for a lot of things.

My doctor prescribed me Gabapentin, used to control nerve pain or shingles. All my liver funtions are way out of wack, I feel like I am plugged in to a electrical outlet, sort of tingling itching sensation anyone try this.

I have heard of internal Shingles. Sometimes shingles can invade the nerves inside the body and cause other symptoms. Has that been considered? I'm far from a specialist in this area - or any area. this was 3 weeks ago. I was prescribed prednisone and Valaciclovir. this worked well, and the shingles is all but gone, rash almost cleared up, pain in leg gone. after 3 days of the treatment, I started getting a pain around my right eye. it may or may not have to do with shingles, i'm thinking its not related but I guess it could be. the pain felt like eye strain, so I went back to the Dr he said it wasn't related to shingles, and washed it out, didn't help.

I had shingles on my face, lips and throat in May. This September and I am still giving a lot of discomfort on my lower lips and tongue (right side). I use Oragel to numb it but doesn’t help much. Trying to go off 100 mg of gabapentin. There is a small bump just behind lip inside my mouth. Wish this discomfort would go away. Any suggestions to ease this pain?

Greetings! I am a 51 year old female. In the fall of 2000 I noticed a rash on my right breast in the shape of an upside down "T". By the spring of 2001, one half of my right breast was flaming red with no blisters. I was placed on antibiotics by a Dermatologist with no help. If your shingles goes away and you've tried various means of getting your digestion going, but it's still a problem, I agree with the poster Mammo about going to the ER, or go to a Gastoenterologist, or possibly even a Neurologist if it comes down to nobody having any answers, in case that paralysis thing with the shingles would affect your digestion.
