Avatar n tn I have had the same symptoms and for the past two weeks they at first were trying to rule out MS but now they are trying to confirm a diagnosis. Two days ago because of the pins and needles and restless leg syndrome they gave me a prescription for these symptoms and to me it is a miracle drug. I actually slept through for two nights in a row. The drugs name is Gabapentin. It makes you sleepy so it is taken at bed time. They have me on 300mg capsules and I take 1-2 at bedtime.
Avatar m tn I am unable to walk for long periods of time, the pain is not lessening even though i am currently taking myropex on a daily basis. I have had testing for restless leg syndrome, arthritis, had an mri, etc and am tired of not being able to get any relief from this because no one knows whats wrong. This has been ongoing for over 10 years and is progressively getting worse to the point I had to quit my job because I was not able to function normally. Any help would be appreciated.
1542096 tn?1293162924 Hi, restless leg syndrome (RLS) can be treated by underlying illness, if known. For example, a search for iron deficiency by blood testing to reveal underlying iron deficiency anemia by supplying iron. Elimination of caffeine, smoking and alcohol can be very helpful. Getting better sleep and exercise can help some persons affected by restless legs. Drugs include carbidopa-levodopa, opioids , tramadol for intermittent symptoms, carbamazepine, clonazepam, diazepam, triazolam, and clonidine.
329994 tn?1301663248 Does anyone on here have Restless Leg Syndrome and are they being treated for it? and could you please list your symptoms, what it feels like. I don't believe that I have it, but my doctor put me on Klonopin to see if that helps. What I have our leg aches, ankle aches, basically all day long but they are worse after exercise and at night. They ache so much, they drive me crazy. But I don't get that creepy crawly feeling everyone talks about.
Avatar f tn There are numerous possibilities. She needs a spinal MRI, with dye contrast, pariculiarly of the lumbar region. And an ultrasound to determine and rule our circulatory etiology. Gabapentin stinks and morphine and opiates don't work. A tens device is sometimes helpful. There are also special exercises that can be performed very inexpensively if there is lumbar compression. The most likely cause is lumbar compession. The second most likely cause is circulatory.
Avatar m tn I did some reading into Gabapentin and it sounds like exactly the type of medication you need. It is used to treat burning sensations, hot flashes, restless leg syndrome, tingling and numbness. It has a low addiction rate, but it should not be stopped cold turkey. A slow taper is recommended for any person wishing to come off it.
Avatar f tn Hi there. There is no known cure for restless leg syndrome. Treatment is aimed at stress relieving of muscles like warm baths, gentle stretching exercises and massage. lowdoses of pramipexole and ropinirole can be effective. For disturbed sleep, you may be give medicines like gabapentin, pregabalin, clonazepam. Iron supplements for iron deficiency and low dose narcotics can be tries. Take care.
526906 tn?1261871796 Interestingly, I am already taking 900 mg per night for restless leg syndrome. Are you aware of any correlation between taxol, restless leg syndrome and increased risk of neuropathy. What about short-term vs. long-term side effects? I can deal with almost anything if I have a fairly high degree of certainty that it will go away! I'm already taking Neulasta after each treatment of A/C, so we're keeping an eye on that. Your thoughts?
Avatar n tn Hi, Thanks for writing in. Restless leg syndrome is a common cause of painful legs. Restless leg syndrome also features worsening of symptoms during the early evening or later at night. The characteristic nighttime worsening of symptoms in persons with restless legs syndrome frequency leads to insomnia. The cause of restless leg syndrome is unknown in most patients.
5447621 tn?1368108821 This is not good news for me at all. I am 25mcg every 3 days and I am assuming be tossed off my pain management program tomorrow. I have been concerned with withdrawal as I went thru it after my spinal fusion when being hospitalized for 4 days post surgery and on morphine every 2 hours the entire time. coming home sucked! I thought I was going nuts. the second day I took myself off all meds completely thinking it was the percocet 10s they had me on plus flexeril and gabapentin...
Avatar f tn I've been dealing with a form of dysautonomia since 2006, with symptoms that are ringing in the ears, Raynaud's, insomnia, restless leg syndrome, sleep apnea, a sensation of choking at times, but most troubling a sensation of being drunk/ dizzy...I have had high blood pressure in the past which resolved on its own. Over the past couple years I developed heart palpitations, fluttering, flip flopping etc...the past 8 months or so..
Avatar f tn Not sure but restless leg syndrome or neuropathy comes to mind
Avatar n tn Every time my entire legs hurt, they are always cold to touch. I also suffer from severe Restless Legs Syndrome. I wake up every night at 2-3 AM and am either restless or in pain, or both, staying awake for several hours sometimes unable to sleep. In mornings, I have associated heaviness and pulling tired sensations. I have fatigue, probably secondary to the insomnia. I require Norco 10/325 QID and even that is not sufficient for full relief. EMG/NCS negative.
Avatar n tn What you describe is an opiate withdrawal symptom. A lot of people call it Restless Leg Syndrome, which I personally think is a poor name and not descriptive of the symptoms (and a lot of physicians don't even recognize it as a real condition, but one manufactured by the pharmaceutical industry). Anyway, the discomfort and pain in your leg is a very common withdrawal symptom. I eased it somewhat with lots of hot baths, and wrapping my lower legs in a heating pad.
Avatar n tn So maybe eat some bananas or get a potassium supplement. I hate restless leg syndrome and deal with it every morning before I take my morning dose of oxycodone! Good luck getting rid of it!
Avatar f tn Hi there. Restless leg syndrome can be very distressing and is associated with obesity, smoking, polyneuropathy of hypothyroidism, diabetes and kidney failure. Certain drugs like H2 blockers, caffeine, alcohol, etc. Treatment would include tackling an underlying cause if present like treat an iron deficiency anemia if present. Reduce caffeine and alcohol intake. Quit smoking, exercise and sleep well.
501163 tn?1218076238 I rubbed it a little on the arms and left leg and made sure it was touching my leg when I went to sleep. It helped a little at first, then after 3 days it gave a lot of relief. I made sure it was about half way in the bed when I made it. I used dial gold but I think you can use any brand. I am extremely skeptical about off the wall suggestions, however, desperate times called for desperate measures. Haahaahaa...
305180 tn?1279716747 Anyone know what I can do to help with restless leg syndrome. They get restless and jerky off and on throught the day and evening, and it doesnt seem to matter how I am sitting or laying. Any ideas of anything that can help with this?
Avatar f tn Hey there, thankfully I don't have restless leg syndrome this time round! I had it before and OH MY GOD! it was annoying! I also suffer from insomnia at the moment too though so I am with you there, I am also just over 9 weeks! (hopefully) Anyways, I used to try a hot water bottle and things like that, right on your skin or a heat blanket, just for your legs though. The reason being, the restless leg syndrome is usually a sign of bad circulation!
