9472198 tn?1556168148 t know if the Gabapentin is making it worse. Can anyone recommend anything for this rash to go away? A nurse told me about hypobaric oxygen therapy if the sores become worse/open & to check a wound care facility.
293157 tn?1285873439 Hi everyone, I'm taking Gabapentin and up to 1800mg a day...I was taking 2100mg a day, but felt too tired so I lowered it to 1800mg .. I've had this rash on my neck for the past week or so.. it's spreading down my chest area and hands...parts of my face. It looks like Hives...but I'm not sure if it is. My GP is away for another week and can't see him... could you get hives from gabapentin...it's the only med that is a new med for me...
Avatar f tn So I was on gabapentin for 2 and a half years. I have fibromyalgia and chronic pain from scoliosis. I'm already prescribed tramadol. When they put me on it, it helped me a lot. But I started getting a rash. But I had no clue it was from my drug. Looking back it's the ONLY thing it could be from. I've got spots all over the back of my arms and legs. Some are scars from the ones that where healing. But they wouldn't close!
Avatar f tn yes you certainly can. I have been on gabapentin 1800mg (for neuropathic pain) for 5 years now and Lamictal 150mg (lowered from 300mg originally)..for abt 18 months this I take for mood stabilizing. I have noticed no side effects from either drug alone or combined, except possibly some short term memory problems that may or maynot be related to the lamictal.
Avatar m tn Hello, I am new to this group. I have had more than 85 blood tests since I was diagnosed with Lyme in July of 2014. All have been negative. I have been on may drugs for pain and currently on Gabapentin for vocal cord/coughing issues and leg pain (knee, calf, left side back). I don't think it is helping much. Is anyone else on Gabapentin?
Avatar f tn ve ever experienced) started 5 days before the rash started, I was misdiagnosed at my first ER visit. I am 21 days into the rash, and both the rash and the pain have lessened in intensity. When it lets me sleep, the pain usually wakes me at 4:00am. I started a altered and Gabapentin the day after the rash appeared (my 2nd ER visit). My outbreak is along my right rib age, from my spine to the middle of my stomach.
Avatar f tn I tried gabapenten and only took it for two days. I had quite the reaction with it. I had the hot flashes and I developed a raised rash on my face. The side effects lasted for two days after I stopped the medicine. I called the doctor and she said to stop taking it.
Avatar n tn Hello, Neurontin or gabapentin has photodermatitis, pruritis and skin rashes as it side effects.I would suggest you to consult your doctor and get the prescription changed. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep us posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
Avatar f tn maybe some other people who have had the rash can offer you some suggestions. I am on week 12, and just now a rash, myself, that looks like hives, and it's on my torso. I am sure the hot weather triggered it. Try to stay out of the sun, and stay cool, and take cool showers.
189269 tn?1189755825 I'm on Gabapentin also (for depression... Gab's a generic Neurontin) in combo with Paxil. I never noticed itching increase when she added Gab, but was kind of 'out of it' and bipolar like at the time. I asked about the itching and the doc said it was from the treatment (Pegasys/Ribavirin) drying out my skin so much. Got some relief by using lotion (Aveno baby - no added colors or perfumes).
97654 tn?1214348650 For the first few days my pain, tingling, numbless and burning went away. They are now back and more severe than prior to the Solumedrol regime. Is this normal? I actually believe I was on the verge of a flare up prior to starting the Solumedrol and believe I am now in a full blown flare up. I am seeing my Neuro tomorrow and I'm wondering if he will suggest another round of the drug.
2015036 tn?1332997788 Hi, Tammy, I'm no stranger to TN, and it's rearing it's ugly head again, lately. I take a combination of Gabapentin, and Trileptal (a kin to Tegritol). Trileptal makes me dizzy, but if I ramp up very slowly, it becomes tolerable. So, I start with 300 mg each of G and T at bedtime, for three days. Then, I add the same doses in the morning, so that my morning and evening doses are 12 hours apart. I do this for three days, and then add a noon dose if necessary.
Avatar f tn I began taking Gabapentin for the electricity and muscle spasms in my legs. My initial dose was 100 mg at bedtime. Now, I am up to 100 mg 3 times daily. It has helped greatly, but recently I have been having some break-through spasms. I do not recall having had any "vibrations" from the medication itself.
681148 tn?1437661591 ve noticed for the past week that the sensations and the pain come and go. I rarely take the Oxycodone but still need the Gabapentin on the prescribed basis. I hope this information is of some help to you. Please ask me any relevant questions that you think I may be able to assist you with. I have a follow-up with my doctor Thursday and if I have any information that I think may be of use to you, I will send you a post. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I have taken gabapentin and xanax for 10+ years without problems. Xanax is a shorter acting benzodiazapine then librium. You may find you need less librium with gabapentin.
Avatar m tn In such type of itching, cooling lotions like those containing camphor or menthol, capsacain or local anesthetic creams, amitriptyline and gabapentin tablets are effective. Please discuss these possibilities from a dermatologist. If there is a visible rash then preferably a biopsy skin should be done. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
1678656 tn?1369233818 I've been having this itchy sensation on my head and neck that is just getting worse! Have had it for a couple weeks now and I keep waking my husband up at night for him to check for bugs...every time, no bugs! So, I went with him to his GP appointment and had her look at my head to see if there was anything she knew of. Again, no bugs. Haven't changed shampoos or laundry soap or anything. Nothing new introduced to my body, either.
1218873 tn?1300091216 when I was diagnosed with small fiber neuropathy of unknown etiology my doc put me on gabapentin up the dosage slowly to 1500mg well when i upped the dose I had a rash from head to toe so discontinued the gabapentin and went to lyrica it was a godsend though I would have to up the dose every 6 months or so most of the bone pain went away , I now currently take 300mg 3 times a day which I am currently maxed out on dosage.
Avatar m tn ve only had 2 sexual partners and the most recent one had been 2 1/2 years prior to this rash. He ran some blood tests and they came back negative, so I was relieved and symptoms went away in about 2 weeks total. Some pain continued and I had more tests run 12 weeks later (herpeselect this time) and they came back negative, but the doctor also ran a test for IgG and IgM for zoster, both of which came back pretty high (6.7 for IgG, 3.
Avatar f tn I had a migraine new to me about a month ago went to a neurologist he prescribed meythpredislone 21 pack and after that was completed he prescribed neurotin gabapentin which I am very afraid of taken but I started taken 1 before I go to bed. Why did the neurologist prescribed that if it was just for headaches?
Avatar m tn Sometimes herpes zoster reactivates subclinically, with pain in a dermatomal distribution without any rash. This is known as zoster sine herpete and may be more complicated, affecting many cranial nerves and causing multiple cranial neuropathies and polyneuritis. You should consult you doctor for a complete clinical and neurological examination and appropriate treatment for quick relief from symptoms.
Avatar m tn I am currently using 8mg of buprenorphine,1800mg of gabapentin and 150mg of wellbutrin daily as medicine for pain management and nerve pain. Now I'cant obtain gabapentin anymore and would like to transfer to oxycodone 120mg daily as a substitute for buprenorphine and gabapentin.I would like to know is such change possible.
Avatar m tn I was finally diagnosed with the condition after 2 years of trying various prescription topical creams (Elidel, Pramascone, Steroid Creams, Anti-fungals etc.) and oral medications (Pregabalin, Gabapentin, etc.) Is there any procedure I must have done to confirm my condition? Is there any particular specialist besides a dermatologist who would treat this condition? I have been to several dermatologists and most are clueless of the condition.
Avatar f tn I went to a dermatologist who thought that since I had stopped the Gabapentin, the nerves in my neck were firing and that this caused the itch and pain. He put me back on the Gabapentin, 300 mg at night and also on Clobetasol Lotion for the itching. Things seemed to improve but as time went by, I thought that more could be done as I had some sores on my arms where I had scratched when itching.
Avatar m tn sciatic nerve damage. The Gabapentin works great, aside from the fact that I get brain fog and drowsiness. This drug separates me from pain, however, makes me a zombie! Does anyone know of a drug or supplement that I can take with the Gabapentin to combat the somnolence?
