It's all an individual thing in how well we metabolize medication. And one other thing -- psychiatrists are actually more poorly trained in the science of mental illness than psychologists.

Well I notice the one common thing so far is that well all are not on DMD's and we all take Gabapentin. Me? Im also taking amitryptaline (spell?) prozac and nuvigil. And occasionally percocet for pain.

Saw a doctor at Stanford yesterday fir a second opinion. I had been tested by another specialist I had rapid gastric emptying and was put on Prozac and low dose Clonidine. Can't say I noticed much of a difference in lower abdominal pain, bloating, stomach pain and nausea. This specialist didn't feel the emptying was that bad and wants to treat me for IBS with this drug plus Activia and Lactulose (prebiotic) but it says laxative and I am not really constipated.

hi,I am on prozac 25mg daily,omeprazole 1 pill at lunchtime and gabapentin 300 mg at bedtime, xanax when needed for anxiety & panic .my question I also had took gabapentin 150 mg during day and found myself getting mad alot ,so I decided to stop it during the day and then wean myself off the 300mg at night, THAt was a big mistake, now MY anxiety & panic is 100% again I need help .

Just do a google search on antidepressants and rapid cycling. I was ultra rapid cycling taking an antipsychotic, lamotrigine, and wellbutrin. I only started getting better when I did the research on antidepressants and insisted that I no longer take them. Very odd medication choices. I've taken neurontin but it was for pain related issues not mood. Have you been unable to take standard medication like lamotrigine, lithium, or diprovalex?

Other treatments include cooling lotions like those containing camphor or menthol, capsacain or local anesthetic creams, amitriptyline and gabapentin tablets and electrical cutaneous nerve field stimulation. I was on gabapentin (neurontin) a couple of years ago for something not related to Hepatitis C and my liver enzymes went really high. Ros, Welcome! I tried Lyrica and Gabapentin. one bottle each. They made me angry and depressed after the first bottle. I wouldn't get on it. They say IT'S REAL HARD to get off. Hang in there and keep posting.

Some studies show Effexor to be superior to Zoloft, Paxil, Prozac, Lexapro and Celexa and similar in efficacy to Elavil and Imipramine (older TCA drugs with more serious side effects). You could try maybe a combo of Effexor and Rexulti. The Rexulti acts as both an alpha and beta blocker as well as a seratonin dopamine modulator. The alpha and beta blockage keeps my heart rate in the 80's instead of 110-115 that it was.

Hi Mike, I'm was just thinking about it, and the expense of it, and in Canada we ( my hubby andI) don't have coverage because he is self employed. So, we have pharma-care, and yes that helps, but if I could go on less of a dose, then it be less financially. My symptons are still there, and I don't know if the Gabapentin is helping them or not, and I have been on it for sometime now. Like I said before, my Dr's aren't very with it, and I have to be my own advocate.

I began taking Gabapentin for the electricity and muscle spasms in my legs. My initial dose was 100 mg at bedtime. Now, I am up to 100 mg 3 times daily. It has helped greatly, but recently I have been having some break-through spasms. I do not recall having had any "vibrations" from the medication itself.

I have taken gabapentin and xanax for 10+ years without problems. Xanax is a shorter acting benzodiazapine then librium. You may find you need less librium with gabapentin.

I've also heard that lyrica is similar to gabapentin. But I heard that lyrica is gabapentins big bad brother meaning that it is much stronger. I have also heard that lyrica has the potential for abuse. But I have also read of people abusing gabapentin. I'm prescribed gabapentin and I have no idea why anyone would want to abuse it as all it seems to do is make me sleepy and foggy headed. Then again, people would probably try to abuse motor oil if they thought it might alter their brain!

A few years latter I went to cymbalta and that work and recently the insurance said no and I went thru the process again and nothing happed. What other medication is out there? It is so hard to get up in the moring because of the pain I have to crawl to the shower to have the warm water loosen me so I can do my fibro stretches in order to function. I have read some of the people who take narcs for the pain. Are you aware that narcs can make it worse?

When I was taking Prozac I didnt gain weight.Paxcel made me gain some though.

I am able to live with my attacks (which can get really bad at times) and I actually have a fear of taking meds. I think the only thing I will take is a child's dose of tylenol only when I have a fever or migrane. I have discovered that taking Vitamin B Complex capsules have helped reduce my stress and anxiety levels. Also, I still love taking Flinstone vitamins, on top of the vit B complex. I feel great when I don't miss out in taking one a day.

actually I am on prozac and iterestingly I didn't take it yesterday and had no problem sleeping at night, but I also took a clonazepam at bedtimes with the morphine and thought that was the reason I slept so much better. I never had any problems with the prozac before, but that doesn't mean it's not causing the problem now. hmm well I will have to evaluate this further.

The Dr said this would go away once the prozac fully kicked in , but its been a month and nothing. I know the prozac is helping but i have ups and downs all day. If I sit at home by myself for an hr or two i will feel depression and or anxiety. I guess my question is..... do you think that I should request a higher mg of prozac (20) or keep giving the 10mg pills a try? I hate having to try so hard to not feel depressed.

Hi i'm on Prozac and trazodone if you start on a low dose of trazodone it shouldn't be an issue and there really is no interaction with trazodone and Prozac because I've been on trazodone and Prozac for years and I've never had a problem you just have to take it like maybe you're better off just taking half a tablet or something

First of all, you shouldn't just stop taking antidepressants without discussing it with your doctor. Fortunately, you weren't on the Prozac long enough and you were at a very low dose, so you didn't experience the nasty effects of going cold turkey off these types of meds. Prozac can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks to reach "steady state" in your body. That is the point at which it will begin to help you.

I have been on and off prozac for 4 years and i now am experiencing heartburn. I take 20mg at night because it makes me dizzy but i dont get the heartburn until the afternoon the next day. I was wondering is it safe to take ranitidine 150mg effervescent? I took it all the time when needed before being back on prozac and it works i was wondering does it cause any side affect?

I have taken your great advice and am doing yoga and breathing exercises to deal with my mild anxiety instead. But heres my question to put my mind at ease. I took the prozac at 28 weeks for about a week. It wasnt right for me and I was too worried I was doing harm to the baby. After my 3 miscarriages last year I am always worried now.

got a new dr in may cause old one retired he had me try to up prozac and trouble with that so his asso. had me totally stop the prozac and go on wellbutrin sr 150am and pm,,,,after a week i was having prozac withdrawals so back on prozac i went and still on wellbutrin to be honest i dont know if my depression is something else cause neither brought me up or were stimulating..my new dt thinks i have slight add..anywayas i have been tapering off the prozac 10 mg a week per dr...

yesterday I went dr for anxiety and not sleeping at night. told her about my husband had been on Xanax for about 3 yrs and I have no in, so when my sleeplessness started , and anxiety I took one of his Xanax at times and some times I would have to take 2mg so she put me on 10 mg of prazac and 1mg of Xanax . my question is I scared to death of the anti-depressant because I have heard good people doing bad things on them I told her I was afraid of them but she insisted I take both.

I had a migraine new to me about a month ago went to a neurologist he prescribed meythpredislone 21 pack and after that was completed he prescribed neurotin gabapentin which I am very afraid of taken but I started taken 1 before I go to bed. Why did the neurologist prescribed that if it was just for headaches?
