neurontin

Avatar n tn Hi, sorry you are feeling bad. When you were in the hospital did they tell you that you have cirrhosis from alcohol? it sure sounds like you still have something going on with your liver, especially if your belly is swelling again. Do yourself a favor and be seen by a "Hepatologist" (liver specialist) as soon as possible.
4705307 tn?1447970322 Hey Tim, Gabapentin is better than Hydro's and Trams for your liver. _______________________________________________________ Hepatotoxicity Limited data are available on the hepatotoxicity of gabapentin. In clinical trials in diabetic neuropathy and epilepsy, therapy with gabapentin was not associated with an increased frequency of serum aminotransferase elevations or liver toxicity.
Avatar n tn I don't think that amount of wine alone would elevate you enzymes but with the drugs you're taking I really don't know. I believe that Skelaxin may be associated with elevated liver enzymes is some people but again, I am not sure of this. I would Google all of the drugs you're taking with the word "liver" or "hepatic" eg "Skelaxin Liver".
Avatar f tn my neuro stated me on this, and every time i stop taking it due to the "dopy" feeling. so now, i'm trying it again, 100-300mg at night, to see if it helps with pain. i think it is helping my sleep a little deeper, though not longer. however, here i sit, feeling so "out of it", that i really don't feel like doing anything, although i want to go do something because it is such a lovely day out. i'll probably stop this med AGAIN, due to this side effect.
8496079 tn?1398412516 I also have Hep C and I worry about my liver. Most of my pain is in my lower back and hips and it is getting worse. I still have to start Cymbalta but I think I will tonight. I am so wanting some relief. Wish I could tell you more. Maybe we can some feedback from someone who has been on it longer.
Avatar f tn hi. i believe cymbalta, gabapentin and alprazolam carry an alcohol use warning. i know for a fact that mixing booze with alprazolam is dangerous as they are both sedatig drugs which when combined are very potent. is he having problems as a result of this? usually there are negative consequences that need to be apparent before one will consider trying to quit. has he ever been to treatment or aa?
Avatar f tn A liver blood panel with AST, ALT and bilirubin should be done to check for high levels of liver enzymes and bilirubin. It usually takes a bilirubin above 2.5 to 3.0 for the skin to be noticeably yellow. Other symptoms of jaundice include dark urine (the bile spills into the urine making it dark in color) or pale stools, The bile normally makes our stools brown so when not processed properly the stools become light in color.
Avatar f tn Now, it’s time to allow your system to find its base line and start functioning naturally. You have done great and should be very happy with the results. Congratulations!
189269 tn?1189755825 Having liver biopsy Monday, because almost all the drugs for this issue have been tried. It will be my 3rd in 4 years. Hope they find an answer.
Avatar n tn I have neuropathy and I take gabapentin thr5ee times a day along with hydrocodone so this means that I take three and sometimes four times a day the hydrocodone, can this be too much for my liver?
3624762 tn?1349395052 She spoke to my liver doc and I see her tomorrow to go over results and what kinds of pain relievers I can take that won't further damage my liver. Any input is greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I began taking Gabapentin for the electricity and muscle spasms in my legs. My initial dose was 100 mg at bedtime. Now, I am up to 100 mg 3 times daily. It has helped greatly, but recently I have been having some break-through spasms. I do not recall having had any "vibrations" from the medication itself.
189269 tn?1189755825 I'm on Gabapentin also (for depression... Gab's a generic Neurontin) in combo with Paxil. I never noticed itching increase when she added Gab, but was kind of 'out of it' and bipolar like at the time. I asked about the itching and the doc said it was from the treatment (Pegasys/Ribavirin) drying out my skin so much. Got some relief by using lotion (Aveno baby - no added colors or perfumes).
Avatar f tn I have taken gabapentin and xanax for 10+ years without problems. Xanax is a shorter acting benzodiazapine then librium. You may find you need less librium with gabapentin.
Avatar m tn He used Atenlol and various other tablets suggested by ESI for blood pressure and NeurokindG (Gabapentin and Mecobalamin Tablets) for his disc problem. Now his legs started swelling, he feels that because of those tablets which he took earlier his legs started swelling. The work which he does also is by standing and by bending. His weight also increased by 10kgs in a span of 1Year,now he is 90kgs and his age is 46.
1218873 tn?1300091216 My consultant asked my GP to over see the swap over to Lyrica. So this is the plan. This means to begin with lowering the gabapentin dose by 300mg every 3 days (I'm on 1800mg at the moment) and then when I'm down to 600mg of gabapentin a day I start to add the pregabalin 75mg to begin with then upping it every 3 days till I reach 300mg a day at the same time still reducing the gabapentin to zero. Hope that makes sense.
Avatar n tn t doing anything for me and so I began to taper off gabapentin and experienced a god awful withdrawal, my Doctor had no advise as to how to properly taper and so I did on line research and found your post and a couple of other posts suggesting that I might have a magnesium defieciency and decided to check out some of the magnesium supplements available one of them was (ionic-fizz Magnesium plus) I was stuck at 1200 mg. gabapentin and couldn't seem to taper down any farther.
Avatar m tn i don't know whether you take antidepressants. i do and i am on effexor and i have fatty liver caused by effexor xr. I don't drink alcohol and iam only 26.
Avatar m tn Six months after treatment and still virus Undecatable my liver specialist has told me I'm cured of Hep C. Yeah! But my symptoms of peripheral neuropathy have remained. Numbness and burning sensations in my hands and feet. And actually, they're worse than when I was on medication, but no worse than before I started. So my question is has anyone in a similar situation recovered from these symptoms and how long was it before the peripheral neuropathy subsided?
Avatar f tn I am a bit worried about taking Gabapentin.....if it starts to work, and I think it might be.....(which is awesome for the day to day life), but when you're not in pain, you can forget that something is wrong! Im worried that I won't push for an answer as hard and/or something will get missed! I don't want to take this band-aid treatment for the rests of my life.....I want to get better!
Avatar m tn Have had severe back pains (old fracture) and have been prescribed Tramadol and Gabapentin. Will taking these drugs damaged the liver preventing UDT at 6 months? These drugs are not liver friendly. Geno 2b started tx 11/21/08 and was UDT @ 4 ,12 and 24 weeks (3-3.
Avatar f tn The only thing I can think is that I take Gabapentin, which, while not metabolized by the liver, has been reported to cause liver problems in a few cases. But my dose is so low (300 mg/day). I'm really at a loss as to what's causing this, and it's starting to freak me out. I'm also too embarrassed to ask my roommate if she can smell that overwhelming smell, but I'm sure she can. Normally, I'd just go to the doctor, but because of coronavirus, I'm hesitant.
