Gabapentin and aleve

Common Questions and Answers about Gabapentin and aleve

neurontin

Avatar f tn This along with the Gabapentin and Oxycodone and Fentanyl gets rid of the sciatica completely until later in the day it returns, which means more medicine. But I would at least try OTC Aleve. I also take one Aleve in the afternoon if I need it and also 1 at night to prevent sciatica in my sleep. I do also get epidural steroid injections about once every 3 months and I will take a four day burst pack of prednisone (an oral steroid) if I get into a flare inbetween injections.
Avatar f tn take robaxin, stress arrest w/gaba and aleve daily to no avail
Avatar f tn Other times the numbness is in the thigh and buttock and is not accompanied by any pain. I have been on muscle relaxers and prescription Aleve but they do not provide consistent relief. Can some point me in the right direction for possible cause & treatment?
Avatar f tn I've recently been going to a neurologist for a very difficult time with temple pain and upper jaw pain on the right side. For the last two months, I've tried Gabapentin, Amitriptyline, Imitrex, Butalbital, Propanynol and now Toppomax. The doc at first thought it was migraines, but I was not convinced. I can look directly at the sun any time, listen to loud music and have no nausea. The pain is constant has has been. It throbs and seems to stem directly from the temple.
Avatar f tn It began yesterday - this incredibly painful throbbing feeling - like electric shock, in the middle of the back of my left thigh. They last anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes. It hurts to the point it I feel sick to my stomach. It's always in the same spot - and it's very rhythmic. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I have a very high pain threshold and this is probably an 8 on the pain scale while it's happening.
7530804 tn?1398546771 I havent taken any medication while pregnant but woke up feeling like I had been run over. I googled a bit and decided to take an Aleve about a hour ago. I feel fine and my baby boy is moving like crazy, I just wanted to know if anyone else has taken Aleve while pregnant? Or have been told anything by their Dr? Thank you!
Avatar n tn I ate 4 pills of Aleve, and had my period right now. Can I try to get pregnant in the following ovaluation period? Thanks.
Avatar f tn Very inspirational!! Well done, and I totally agree with you. Hot showers, Aleve and heating pad will do the trick! Who knew, right?

Avatar m tn Then before I know it, my arms and legs start flailing around, and I start to groan in pain. I twist and writher, and have trouble walking, so I have to sit or lie down with these episodes start. They last anywhere between 10-30 minutes at a time. I went to the emergency room during the first episode, and was treated with Ativan. I have a prescription for Ativan that I use at home during these episodes as well. I also take Aleve. I also become very confused during these episodes.
Avatar n tn Try taking Advil and then 2 hours later take Tylenol and keep the cycle going. This is how my husband deals with shingles when he gets it. He says it helps, not a cure but definitely better.
Avatar m tn I have now gone to a pain specialist and he gave gabapentin ( the nerve drug) I will see how that works.
Avatar f tn I take 600 mg in the morning, along with two OTC Aleve, and one Oxycodone and the sciatica pain is completely gone within an hour and doesn't come back until late afternoon. I admit, I am also on the Fentanyl patch but I have been taking Gabapentin well before I started the patch and I know it was very effective for my nerve pain prior to starting Fentanyl. Good luck to you. Surgery to be a last resort option.
Avatar f tn My pain regimen includes the Fentanyl patch which I wear for 48 hours along with oxycodone IR for breakthrough pain. I also take Gabapentin, a muscle relaxer, valium, an anti-depressant, and OTC Aleve. The latter list of medications are known as adjuvant medications which help the opioid medications work more effectively.
Avatar f tn I began taking Gabapentin for the electricity and muscle spasms in my legs. My initial dose was 100 mg at bedtime. Now, I am up to 100 mg 3 times daily. It has helped greatly, but recently I have been having some break-through spasms. I do not recall having had any "vibrations" from the medication itself.
Avatar m tn Gabapentin) or Lyrica (generic: NA) and Cymbalta (generic: NA) are good medications to try to help with this pain. Opioid medications may still be helpful to you but their effectiveness on nerve pain is limited; however, they may provide some additional meaningful relief due to synergistic effects. A muscle relaxer and anti-inflammatory are helpful too.
Avatar f tn I have taken gabapentin and xanax for 10+ years without problems. Xanax is a shorter acting benzodiazapine then librium. You may find you need less librium with gabapentin.
Avatar f tn When I first starting taking gabapentin the dose was 400mg each night. I was supposed to add a morning dose the second week and then an afternoon dose in the third week. I was getting relief with the 400mg bedtime dose alone but it made me so sleepy that I didn't dare take it during the day. My GP suggested I stick with the once daily dosing for a while. She told me that many of her patients never have to add daytime doses to get adequate pain control.
Avatar f tn I relax in bed for about an hour or two before I fall asleep every night. I have been taking for several years aleve pm and advil pm I switch them each night. I am trying to stay away from taking them because I think I heard it can cause problems internally, not positive on that.
Avatar f tn Tylenol that has no aspirin
11079760 tn?1483386130 Since the Aleve did nothing and the Gabapentin seemed to help I would suspect it is also MS in your case as well. Also burning/wet sensations have been reported by many here with MS.
Avatar f tn I had a migraine new to me about a month ago went to a neurologist he prescribed meythpredislone 21 pack and after that was completed he prescribed neurotin gabapentin which I am very afraid of taken but I started taken 1 before I go to bed. Why did the neurologist prescribed that if it was just for headaches?
Avatar m tn I am currently using 8mg of buprenorphine,1800mg of gabapentin and 150mg of wellbutrin daily as medicine for pain management and nerve pain. Now I'cant obtain gabapentin anymore and would like to transfer to oxycodone 120mg daily as a substitute for buprenorphine and gabapentin.I would like to know is such change possible.
Avatar f tn i was put on Gabapentin (1500 mg) and did Ok for about 2 years. (the stabbing was not as painful/frequent) about 9 months ago I started to get worse. more painful and frequent stabbing pains so my neurologist switched me to Lyrica (200 mg a day) Initialli it seemed to help but I am now experiencing stabbing pains at least 3 times a day which leaves me with throbbing in my head that leaves me incapable of functioning.
Avatar m tn sciatic nerve damage. The Gabapentin works great, aside from the fact that I get brain fog and drowsiness. This drug separates me from pain, however, makes me a zombie! Does anyone know of a drug or supplement that I can take with the Gabapentin to combat the somnolence?
Avatar m tn I have Congenital nystagmus and tried gabapentin but it seemed to be making the Nystagmus worse. I started taking bupropion at the same itme, and suspect the bupropion may have interfered with the initial trial of gabapentin. I need the bupropion for the anxiety associated with Nystagmus, but I know it causes blurred vision and convergence problems. Should I even bother to try memantine? Thanks.
