Avatar n tn Can you elaborate on the appearance of the skin lesion? Diagnosis of a fungal infection would be through analysis of the skin scrapings under the microscope. It would be best to have it evaluated by a dermatologist to rule out other causes. Treatment of hyperpigmentation may include hydroquinone, kojic acid, azelaic acid, ascorbic acid, tretinoin, topical glucocorticoids, and licorice extract. Take care and keep us posted.

Avatar n tn Hi There can be various causes for reddish spots on the ankles and feet. The common ones are scabies, eczema, lichen planus, psoriasis, fungal infection (tinea pedis), erythema multiforme, dyshidrotic dermatitis, etc. Lichen planus lesions are discrete, individual lesions of 1 to 2 mm in diameter or larger, coalesced lesions of 4 to 5 mm in diameter. Typically, the lesions are polygonal, purple, itchy papules.

Avatar m tn 1. Does a fungal infection like yeast infection mean the skin is no longer intact against STD's? Thx!
Avatar m tn Looks like the fungal infection but it could also be a bout or hives that you have. I've had hives that look like that before and I can tell you that the itch drove me crazy. I had it for most of my life and it was very difficult. I did however find a way to cure it. If you're interested in my story please head over to ****.com Thanks.
Avatar m tn What you can do is get a KOH examination of the skin scrapings to rule out any fungal infection. Allergy tests for eczema will also help. Treatment can then be planned. It is mostly antihistaminics and steroid for eczema and antifungals for fungal infection. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Avatar n tn I take 3-caps of olive leaf extract 3-times a day for 7 days to kick out any virus/fungus/bacteria/parasites. I have made olive leaf tea and used the tea to netti pot my sinuses. There is Olive Leaf Nasal Spray out there on the market. After about two days, I get diaphoretic like with a fever but no aches like during the flu. I reduce or increase the number of caps to make the die off effect tolerable. After 7-10 days I stop taking the olive leaf.
Avatar n tn Any ideas on what else this could be besides a fungal infection? If it is a fungal infection, what other treatments are there? Enemas? Nystatin? Thank you.

Avatar m tn The fingertip of her right ring finger is swollen with white dead skin which looks more like a fungal infection. No apparent necrosis, but the fingernail has separated and also *appears* to be infected with fungus. She has had IV antibiotics twice as well as antibiotic and antifungal pills, and it was non-responsive to the drugs. Tested negative for MRSA. Finger hurts and is pinkish-red. It is dry with no discharge.
Avatar m tn I could kick myself for not realizing the significance of this problem sooner, yet I also have never had to deal with a fungal infection either (ergo my naivity). Well, needless to say I wish I did not have this at all or, at least, realized what it was sooner. I thank you in advance for all of your help and understanding.

Avatar m tn A rash or lesion on testicals could be allergy to latex of condoms, a STD, fungal infection, eczema, dermatitis or a bacterial infection. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. You should consult a skin specialist for this. I think you should discuss this with your doctor and get a referral for a skin specialist. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn Hello, Years ago I wnet to the doctor because the hair on the left side of my head was thinning. He said it was a fungal infection and prescribed some powder. I didn't use it consistantly enough and so it didn't end up being effective. It's been a few years and the infection seemed to to at least be halted. But now its coming back. I don't remember the name of the medicine the doctore prescribed, and I don't have insurance, so I can't aford a doctor visit at the moment.

Avatar n tn It is caused by bacterial, fungal or other infections and causes. however, the treatment for balanitis varies from cause to cause. the medications you have inquired regarding here are anti fungals and would not help unless you have a fungal infection. you may go to a doctor to get a diagnosis. there is some research which says that balanitis may occur more commonly in individuals who have not been circumcised. hope this helped.
