infection

Avatar m tn At times both partners need to be treated if the fungal infection involves the genitalia like the penile head or vagina. Do discuss with your treating doctor. Take care!
Avatar m tn They may also appear in other parts of the body. Other differentials will be a tinea or fungal infection. Tinea versicolor may appear as light patches of skin that may show a slight or minimal scaling .They may be slightly itchy. As a fungal infection, the use of antifungal medications will be able to help for tinea infections. I suggest that you have this assessed by your physician.Vitiligo and fungal infections are just differentials here.I do not want to cause further worries.
Avatar f tn   I told her that this had happened for a brief period prior to the antibiotics, but she said I originally had a fungal infection and now the anti-biotics are making it worse.  She gave me some anti-fungal tablets, along with a cream.  The first week, I saw no change whatsoever.  I went back to her, and she prescribed a different cream for me as of 5 days ago.  I've noticed a slight improvement.  Instead of being really bright red, it's more like a pink color now.
Avatar n tn Hi, This could be due to acne/pimples/ or infection of the hair follicles called folliculitis or some bacterial infection/ fungal infection or some skin nodules etc. Nothing can be said with surety without having a look at the lesions. It would be best to reconsult your doctor about your symptoms if they do not resolve and get a proper clinical examination. Keep the area clean and wear clothes washed in a few drops of chlorhexidine preferably and dried in the sun.
Avatar n tn Without a significant sexual history, this may not be something infectious. If this is a dermatitis or a fungal infection, this may present with itchiness. Dermatitis is not contagious but sexual activity may aggravate the condition. As for a fungal infection, this may cause an infection to your partner although this may be transmitted through skin to skin contact and not necessarily through sexual activity. Are there any palpable lumps in the penis?
Avatar n tn There may be an overlying fungal infection or dermatitis. I do not think this is something that requires immediate intervention. Ask your physician about this. You may need topical medications. Is there any associated redness or itchiness in the area? Is there any pain in urination?
Avatar n tn Its my friend, he is a shy guy and is an introvert who's afraid to express himself. He's had this problem but he didn't tell me earlier on! He told me that while he was yet in High School, he hated (disliked) to take a shower, one time, and it took him 2 weeks without taking a bath or even changing his underwear and our senior counselor at school had to call him to office. He began to bathe consistently but still didn't change his underwear regularly.
Avatar m tn The original proposal of candida came about a month before i had the infection in my genital area. I had a scabies infection which i treated with elimite, and then about a week after it cleared up, I had a strange rash and itch in my armpit which i assumed was scabies so i went to the doctor again. The doctor thought it looked like a fungal infection and took a skin test. He never told me the outcome, but he prescribed a clotramazole/anti-inflammatory cream.
Avatar n tn A differential for this is a fungal infection. A pelvic examination and a culture of the vaginal discharge may be able to help. A pap smear may also be helpful if you are 18 and has been sexually active. Is the affected area itchy? Is there any profuse vaginal discharge? Is there any pain in urination or change in urinary patterns?
Avatar n tn Hello, I cannot confirm anything without examination but it sounds like fungal infection(tinea cruris) to me. Wash your groins and genitalia daily and then dry thoroughly by pat drying, not rubbing. A hairdryer is useful if you have hairy groins. The damp skin is an ideal site for fungi to multiply. Also wear cotton underwears and change them twice a day. and do not share other people’s towels.
Avatar f tn Hello, The first possibility is of fungal or yeast infection which is causing itching and white discoloration around the area. This possibility can be ruled out by getting a KOH examination of the skin scrapings of the area done. The second possibility is of lichen sclerosus. It effects mostly women and causes itching and white discoloration of the genitalia especially vulva and the anus.
Avatar m tn Mycocide (for under the nails of the big toes...infection site is small at this point...far less then 1/3 of the size of a dime...very front of toe nails, right & left, where they come in contact with the flesh of the toes)? I could kick myself for not realizing the significance of this problem sooner, yet I also have never had to deal with a fungal infection either (ergo my naivity). Well, needless to say I wish I did not have this at all or, at least, realized what it was sooner.
Avatar f tn If you had a diagnosis before of a fungal infection, you could try treating this again with the same kind of cream. https://www.healthline.com/health/mens-health/white-spots-on-foreskin#herpes What did you use last year when this happened? miconozole is common. Your doctor may call in a prescription without seeing you right now if you call the and say it's the same as last time if they used a prescribed ointment on it.

1010773 tn?1272011003 Hi Welcome to the forum! There are many mild and oil based soaps available in the market that would not deplete your skin of moisture. Alternatively you can apply a moisturizer after your bath. Many types of shower gels too are available. If you are having repeated fungal infection then there is a possibility that you have diabetes. Also it could be due to improper treatment. Please consult a skin specialist who will be able to help you with both your problems.

Avatar f tn My new boyfriend has genital herpes and has been symptom free for 2 years (Carriers can transmit the disease without having any symptoms of an active infection). He also has eczema on both his inner thighs (a few inches below his genitalia). The eczema sites appear red and irritated though I am unaware of any discharge from them. My question is, even if we use a condom, could the genital herpes be spread through his eczema??? I'm panicked by the horrific genital herpes pictures!!! Help!
