Common Questions and Answers about Frequent urination type 2 diabetes

frequent-urination

Avatar n tn m insulin resistant and become very sleepy after eating big meals and HIGH carb foods. And my dad has type 2 diabetes.
Avatar n tn Go see a doctor and get tested. Frequent urination is one sign of type 2 diabetes. It also could be a sign of a disease you do not feel until more severe such as bladder or urinary tract infection, an enlarged prostrate if male, vaginitis if female, or possibly a tumor. Also comes to mind is from drinking excessive amounts of fluids.
Avatar n tn I know that frequent urination is a sign of diabetes so I am concerned. Are there any other signs of diabetes I should look for? Any other possible explanations? I would love to put my mind at ease.
Avatar m tn My first thought is Diabetes Type 2. You have two of the main symptoms. Does any member of your family have DM? You really need to go to MD. I'd get a morning apt and fast the morning of apt. Nothing by mouth except a little water. Post again when you can. Best of luck.
Avatar m tn From frequent urination and weight loss. You should be on a special diet, low carb. Are you type 1 or type 2? You may need to adjust diet. If you are not on meds or insulin, you may need to start. If you are already on meds, they may need to be adjusted. Do you have a glucose meter? How have your readings been?
Avatar m tn I suffer from frequent urination between 2am and 6 in the morning. This happens every half hour, lots of urine, no burning, no pain.I have had blood tests, cystoscopy and an IVP done, all came back negative. I don;t drink a lot since i never get thirsty, a cup of tea in the morning and a glass of water for my blood pressure tablets. I'm not swollen but 2yrs ago i had a back op for a pinched nerve, could this be the cause? Please help!
Avatar f tn It can be due to many reasons which can be physiological or disease-related, and include excessive intake of liquids, diuretic substances (including tea, caffeine, alcohol, certain drugs), anxiety, exposure to cold, diabetes mellitus, diabetes insipidus (central or nephrogenic), urinary tract infections or obstruction, etc to name a few more common ones.
Avatar f tn Does he seem to drink water constantly and cannot go anywhere without water? If so, it could be diabetes insipidus, which is VERY different than diabetes mellitis (Type 1 or Type 2). If not, then it could be a number of things, such as an enlarged prostrate or something else impinging on the bladder and creating a sensation of needing to go, even if the bladder is empty. It could be a problem with the nerves or muscles that connect to and control the bladder.
Avatar f tn I am 25 and recently, i started experiencing frequent urination. I had side pain for a day so i got urine test done and it came out normal. The doctor still prescribed me antibiotic (Enoxabid) for UTI but it did not improve my condition. Now i continue experiencing frequent urination. Every 1.5 to 2 hours, i feel the urge to urinate and since the last 2-3 days i am also experiencing slight burning in the vagina.
Avatar f tn I have been experiencing frequent urination for the past 2 months. I do not experience any other symptoms. I do not have any burning or pain. I just feel the urge to urinate every 1-2 hours. The color of my urine is also normal. There has been no change in the amount of fluids i consume. My thyroid is normal and i am not diabetic. Also, my urinalysis and urine culture have come out normal. What could be causing this?
Avatar n tn My father is 72 and has had Type II diabetes for years. He has also had sleep apnea for years and years. He now gets up 5 - 6 times per night to urinate. Because of this, he will not go in for apnea evaluation. He says that he won't be able to sleep anyways and will just have to unhook himself now if he gets a cpap - what a pain. His sugar is under control ( most of the time), he is also on blood pressure and cholesterol meds.
Avatar m tn I cant hold urine for long experience frequent urination. It statrted when i was sick and given lots of drips, Test shoen i dont have diabetes and every thing is normal .
Avatar n tn Yes, your son could be showing signs of diabetes. Onset usually is fairly slow, for type 1 diabetes can begin as long as several years before enough insulin-producing cells are destroyed to actually raise glucose levels to the full diabetic stage. The body's inability to process the carbohydrates in foods causes extra thirst, which is the reason for frequent urination. An unusual mouth odor is also one of the symptoms. I agree that you should have him checked out by a doctor immediately.

Tbd Btw. there are 2 types of diabetes. Type 2, is typically lifestyle related, and with a very strong genetic link. Type 1, is an autoimmune condition. There is also a genetic predisposition / often a family history of other autoimmune conditions, but not always. Type 1 requires injected insulin to stay alive. While it is known to happen with children, it can also happen with adults. If you have symptoms of diabetes, please see your dr.
Avatar n tn Hi gordiesmom, First, I need to tell you that I am not a medical professional, I am simply a volunteer and mother of a child living with type 1 diabetes. Any advice / input I give you is based solely on knowledge obtained through my personal experience. My son was diagnosed over 6-1/2 yrs. ago at the age of 3. My sister also has type 1 and was diagnosed over 8-1/2 yrs. ago at the age of 24.
Avatar f tn Symptoms of Type 1 diabetes are extreme thirst, frequent urination, drowsiness, sugar in urine, vision changes, increased appetite, weight loss, fruity odor on breath, and labored breathing. Since your child does have two of the above symptoms, you should have him checked as soon as possible. Having him checked is easy and relatively painless and if he does have diabetes, it would be better to find out now before his symptoms get any worse.
Avatar n tn The intense thirst and frequent urination ABSOLUTELY sound like juvenile diabetes, and the exhaustion is highly suspicious. I have never heard of scabs being a symptom. Have they checked her blood sugar level and done a urine test? Make sure they do!
Avatar f tn Since the last 5 days, i have been experiencing frequent urination. After i pass urine, i feel the urge to pass urine again after half hour or hour. Initially, there was slight burning when passing urine but not anymore. I got urine test done but it shows no infection. One month ago, i got digestive problems and acidity and doctor gave me Zantac for that and i was fine within a week. Now ocassionally, i experience acidity and burning in stomach so i avoid fried foods.
Avatar f tn ve had frequent urination, especially at nighttime (nocturia) and this freaked me out about having Diabetes type 2. I have no dryness in the mouth or skin, no dizziness, no weakness or another diabetes-like symptom. I have heard that one have to be at least in pre-diabetic stage in order to have established DM type 2. Is it true? In my case, that I had normal glucose levels and no evidence of pre-diabetes 12 months ago, is it likely that my symptoms are due to established DM type 2?
Avatar m tn I have asked them how did you decided this is Type-2. They answered that if it is Type-1 then you will not be appeared like this and you don't have symptoms. They have started treatment with tablets. Now my random sugar is 113( After one week of medication). Can you suggest me whether it is Type-1 or Type-2?
