Avatar f tn I notice when I am stressed the problem can be worse (and I think it has been a symptoms of stress in the past) and I have other symptoms of anxiety disorder (mainly health anxiety). However I also have symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome-could it be either of these. I have read that it can be a symptom of ovarian cancer too, peeing all the time and I am now terrified which is not making the anxiety any better which in turn is making the problem worse.
Avatar f tn There are a variety of conditions that can increase the frequency of bowel movements. This can include irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel syndrome, celiac disease, or an infection. Testing the stool for infection can be considered. More tests can include blood antibody testing for celiac disease, as well as a colonoscopy to exclude inflammatory bowel disease. If the tests remain negative, treating irritable bowel syndrome can be considered.
Avatar f tn Hello and welcome to the forum. Thanks for your question. It sounds like you have been working with your doctor which is perfect. You've had some testing done. You are young but if you or they have concerns, a colonoscopy is usually recommended. Your medical care for concerns sounds to now have been a while back though so we suggest a follow up appointment. Start with a primary care doctor who then, if warranted, can refer you to a gastrointenstinal specialist.
Avatar m tn Hello, The various possibilities for your symptoms are gall stones,GERD(gastroesophageal reflux disease) and irritable bowel syndrome. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a functional bowel disorder characterized by mild to severe abdominal pain, discomfort, bloating and alteration of bowel habits. In some cases, the symptoms are relieved by bowel movements.Diarrhea or constipation may predominate, or they may alternate (classified as IBS-D, IBS-C or IBS-A, respectively).
Avatar f tn The only relation I can think of between GERD and anxiety/panic is that Irritable Bowel Syndrome is said to be strongly linked with anxiety and stress, and GERD can be symptom of Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
Avatar m tn Irritable Bowel Syndrome Chronic diarrhea that contains undigested food may be a symptom of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), a disorder of the lower intestinal tract. Additional symptoms of IBS can include abdominal pain, swelling, chronic or frequent bouts of constipation (between bouts of diarrhea), emotional stress and loss of appetite. If you experience chronic diarrhea and any number of these signs, discuss your symptoms with your doctor to determine whether you have IBS.
Avatar m tn You could be suffering from an inflammatory bowel condition such as Celiac Disease/Ulcerative Colitis/Irritable Bowel Syndrome/ Crohn’s disease. Parasites in the gut like threadworm, tape worm, giardiasis etc can behave this way. Hence a stool test is a must. Problems of gall bladder and liver or that of pancreas too cannot be ignored and should be investigated. I would strongly recommend you to see a gastroenterologist (a specialist who looks after the diseases of our digestive system).
Avatar f tn I am a 23 year old girl, my symptoms are frequent urination, after each urination, the total feeling of urination, but the amount of discharge is very small, almost no. This has been this symptom for almost two years. I'm having sex.
Avatar n tn I had *awful* irritable bowel syndrome throughout chemo. Luckily (?), when I also had it during radiation, a nutritionist met with me. She recommended a supplement called "Acidopholis." It's the bacteria in the intestines which we all need to digest food, but chemo and radiation kill it. I used it faithfully and saw a radical improvement in my IBS. No more constipation/diarrhea. Wish I'd been told about it during chemo! (I take one called Multidopholis Plus.

Avatar m tn But for many years I had suffered from gastro problems which i and to some degree also the docs thought it all comes from the HCV infection, now I see that these problems still remain so i went onto a doc who is speciallist in this area and he told me that eventhough it is not exactlly IBS (Irritable bowel syndrome) I should treat it as it is IBS. Also I would like to add that I have had my GB removed about 8 years ago because of GB stones.

Avatar f tn It could also be due to Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), malabsorbtion, inflammatory bowel diseases and various infections of the colon. Sometimes anxiety with flatulence can cause this symptom. This could cause back pain also. Blood tests will help detect infections, besides stool examination which will reveal fat malabsorbtion. Colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy are procedures which are used to study the whole colon for infections and inflammations.

1627263 tn?1299516417 Flushing out of bacteria by frequent urination also helps. I suggest you consult a gastroenterologist and look into the cause of constipation. Most likely it is because you do not eat healthy and drink plenty of fluids. Chronic constipation can be due to diabetes, hypothyroidism, colon disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, diverticular diseases, cancers, severe acidity etc. It can also be due to milk allergy and other food allergies. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar m tn I tried different medicine prescribed by the doctors. Nothing worked. My stomach would cramp sometime, but my primary symptom is frequent urination, gas & bowel movement during the night and frequent heartburn. Does anyone else have the same issues?
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with irritable bowel after suffering with pain and constipation for years. I also suffer badly with wind. I have been taking fybogel mebeverine twice a day and peppermint capsules for the past 4 months.I track my fibre intake, and ensure I have a minimum of 27g per day. I am an adult female, I exercise several times a week and consider my diet to be quite healthy. The pain isn't as frequent but im still constipated most of the time. Does anyone have any advice please?
Avatar n tn A change in bowel movements is not an indicator or symptom of pregnancy.

Avatar n tn First of all, irritable bowels syndrome has to be completely ruled out. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a functional bowel disorder characterized by mild to severe abdominal pain, discomfort, bloating and alteration of bowel habits. Irritable bowel syndrome can be a very difficult diagnosis to make. IBS is called a diagnosis of exclusion, which means that a doctor considers many other alternatives first, perhaps performing tests to rule out other problems.
