4274823 tn?1388529098 For instance, drinking too much water can actually cause dry mouth/extreme thirst (as noted in the article), which will, in turn, cause us to drink more, causing more frequent urination... BUT extreme thirst (and in turn, frequent urination) is a prime symptom of dangerously high blood sugar levels, which can cause coma and death, if not treated immediately. One should NEVER make the assumption that extreme thirst is either over or dehydration, since it may likely be neither.
Avatar n tn He has been suffering for about 8 months, with frequent headaches, constant thirst and nose bleeds. At least three to four days out of the week. His peditrician checked him for diabetes about six months ago. As a parent, I am very concerned it is possibly something more and the condition is being overlooked. What could all of this mean?
Avatar f tn No , your symptoms don't seem like the classical diabetes symptoms of extreme thirst, frequent urination. Yes, with high blood sugar one does feel sleepy but that is quickly followed by the symptoms I describe above, at least for me. I have been diabetic for nearly 30 years now.
Avatar n tn Recently i have been experiencing extreme thirst, frequent urination and hand shakes. I know theses are some symptoms of diabetes however I have not experienced any weight loss. Is there another possible explanation for my symptoms? Are these enough symptoms to be concerned about possible diabetes?
Avatar f tn I have has 12 UTI's this year. I went yesterday to have thepotassium test and they told me I might possibly have IC even though I only mildly felt pain from the solution being injected into my bladder.
Avatar f tn As the previous poster stated, often keeping your blood glucose (BG) under control will help to alleviate diabetes symptoms such as increased thirst and frequent urination. If you are not checking your blood sugar at home, I would recommend making an appointment with your doctor to check your blood glucose and make sure that your medication is at the correct dose to manage your diabetes.

Avatar n tn I have extreme thirst all the time. I get up at night and drink, I get extreme muscle aches, headaches, irritability, dry skin, recurring abrasion in my eyes from chronic dry eye. All of these problems have developed since my thirst came about. I drink three to five gallons of water a day, and urinate constantly. It is torture. i can not keep going like this. i have been "tested" for diabetes, and they did a urinalysis and osmolarity of my blood.
Avatar n tn Frequent urination, Excessive thirst, Extreme hunger, Unusual weight loss, Increased fatigue, Irritability and blurry vision are some other symptoms of diabetes I would suggest if you recognize one or more of these symptoms to take her to the doctor and request a Fasting Plasma Glucose Test or an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test. Those tests will give you a real answer and you won't just worry if she does have diabetes.
Avatar f tn In many instances, diabetes (especially in its early stages) has no signs at all. When blood sugar levels are very high, it may cause frequent urination, excessive thirst, slow-healing wounds, reduced energy, and changes in vision. Best to see your physician and ask for labwork to see if you truly have diabetes or its precursor, called prediabetes.
Avatar n tn I am a 22 years old male from india. I am suffering from frequent (day time) urination (around 12 times in daytime only, don't wake up from sleep to urinate ) for the last 6 years. Avatar f tn Ever since I came down with a really bad flu four months ago, I've been a wreck. My heart rate goes fast every time I do anything, and I've had the classic diabetes symps of extreme hunger, thirst, frequent urination and visual disturbances. I've also collapsed and had extreme dizziness. However I've been so focused on heart stuff (the tests i had done were normal and my cardiologist didn't think my heart was the cause) that I've ignored other possibilities.
Avatar n tn The intense thirst and frequent urination ABSOLUTELY sound like juvenile diabetes, and the exhaustion is highly suspicious. I have never heard of scabs being a symptom. Have they checked her blood sugar level and done a urine test? Make sure they do!
1090423 tn?1286287650 Your symptoms do not particularly sound like diabetes (common symptoms are frequent urination, increased thirst and weight loss). See your doctor if your problems continue.

Avatar n tn Have you experienced any of the other typical signs of diabetes such as extreme thirst or frequent urination? Please visit the jdrf website at www.jdrf.org for more information, especially if it is determined that you have diabetes. Best of luck to you.
Avatar m tn Type 2 diabetes usually has a slower onset and can often go undiagnosed. But many people do have symptoms like extreme thirst and frequent urination. Other signs include sores that won't heal, frequent infections (including vaginal infections in some women), and changes in vision. Some patients actually go to the doctor with symptoms resulting from the complications of diabetes, like tingling in the feet (neuropathy) or vision loss (retinopathy), without knowing they have the disease.
