Common Questions and Answers about Freestyle flash glucose meter manual

glucose

503651 tn?1223174601 I have been checking my blood sugar consistantly (finger tips) using the freestyle light. Every thing has been nomal except 2 times this month i got very high readings. One was 169 and the other was 144. However both times I retested using the same finger and got signifigantly lower readings. From 169 to 108 and from 144 to 100. Only a few secons elapsed between readings so i cannot figure out why it would go down so far so fast. Anyone have any ideas about this?
Avatar n tn t know anything about obtaining financial help with test strips in countries other than the USA, but here in the USA the company that makes the FreeStyle strips has a program that provides FreeStyle strips and lancets (and a meter) free of charge if a person meets all of the income requirements. Maybe if you contact them they can let you know if any help is available in your country.
Avatar f tn Your meter may not be compatible with the new strip. FreeStyle and FreeStyle Lite meters must use different strips.
Avatar f tn When you have an actual average glucose obtained with OneTouch or other meter, the following formula will give an indicated A1C. (Actual average glucose + 2.52)/1.583/100 This should be used to compare to your actual A1C obtained from the lab.
Avatar n tn No Rx required for test strips. Try wherever you purchased the glucose test meter, or online at Amazon or web sites like americandiabeteswholesale.
Avatar f tn I would like your opinion on which glucose meter is best. My insurance will pay for one either from Abbot or Lifescan. I've gone online and I get mixed reviews on the One Touch Ultra and Freestyle. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn I've had both the freestyle and the pump in style advanced. I like that the freestyle I can carry it in the diaper bag and I don't have to plug it in. You just recharge it when it dies. But I also really liked the in style as well. As for manual, I have the Medela manual pump and I express more with my freestyle.
Avatar f tn What's not obvious is the make and model of your meter. Your meter may need calibration, is defective, or your levels are beyond the meters maximum limit. I suggest you read the owners manual for an explanation of "HIGH".
Avatar m tn Acceptance criteria in ISO 15197, 2003 are that 95% of all differences in glucose values (i.e., between reference method and meter) should be within 15 mg/dL for glucose values less than 75 mg/dL, and within 20% for glucose values greater than or equal to 75 mg/dL.
Avatar f tn You suggested I keep track of his fasting and two hour after meal blood sugars. However our meter broke right before I was going to start doing that. I am wondering if there is a certain type of meter that ped endos like in particular because I'm probably going to have to go buy another one. Any info you could provide would be great.
Avatar n tn I bought a store brand glucose meter and tested on several occasions, to which my highest reading was 210 after meals, and 59 fasting. My maternal grandmother is the only known person in our family to have diabetes (type II). I carry glucose tablets if I feel low, and have eliminated all sugars except for some carbohydrates, in fear of losing weight. My question is, if my condition makes a switch to type II, what can I do to make it better?
326505 tn?1304169225 I love it!!! Whoo Hoo! Your 3's look awesome! Went to flash my meter on Teko's thread, but the Ctrl/Shift/V wouldn't bring up my stats.
Avatar n tn Is ghere a meter mire reliable than another m? Di you calibrate wuth your doctor or something?
Avatar n tn I have been told I'm am pre-diabetic but type 2 diabetes is written in my health records. I just got a new meter (OneTiych). My previous readings with the "Freestyle " meter were no higher than 110. Most readings stayed in the 90's.
Avatar n tn Has anyone ever had an INCORRECT BG reading from the BG Link meter? It happened to me.The reading was 371.I did the correction for a high BG,then checked my site. Was going to prime insulin, then decided to recheck it was 211,ten mins later 207.So I have a new problem TO MUCH INSULIN.When eatting I deducted the act-correct from food.Celled Minimed, then BG. BG sending a New link and strips. Also sometimes when strip is put into link,it doesn't recognize it.
Avatar n tn It is an on-going battle between the two of us to get him to write down his sugar level and insulin when he checks. He is on a regimen of Lantus and Humalog and basically uses his own discretion when counting carbs and giving insulin. Does anyone have any suggestions on how we can better track his numbers, besides me following him around with a log book? He uses the Accu-Check Instant meter.
Avatar f tn I just checked the manual for my meter, Pink, and it doesn't do that. Have you re-tested? Do you continue to get that reading? Have you made sure you have the right code tab in your meter for the strips you are using, and have you used control solution to make sure it is working correctly? If you keep getting that reading without any numbers after you've done all that, I would call your doctor. How do you feel? Are you familiar with how you feel when you are high? Are you thirsty?
Avatar n tn then when your baby gets to school age, get an insulin pump. Also, the meter called the Freestyle Lite is great! It is the only meter right now that will not only light up the screen, but it will also light up your baby's finger when you ***** it so that you do not have to turn on a light in the room at night that might wake the baby up. Good luck!
Avatar f tn So, for a while now just haven't felt well. Went through the paces with doctors and didn't get anything other then GERD, asthma and SIBO (bacteria in my small intestine). Flash forward to now and frequent need to urinate, lethargy, fatigue and often weird reactions after eating such as pale color, shaky, anxious, etc. My blood glucose on many, many CBCs was always good yet something was off.
Avatar f tn Medela freestyle and manual is harder and more time consuming.
Avatar n tn Hey- you might ask your doctor to prescribe a blood glucose meter and test strips. Then you can test your blood sugar when this happens to see if it is hypoglycemia.
Avatar f tn Medella and Ameda are the two hospital grade pumps and unless you wanna spend your life attatched to a pump i would go with them. Unfortunately, they are pricey but you get what you pay for. With my second i bought a medella freestyle and fell in love with it. It is hands free, dual, and battery life is great. I enjoyed not having to sit next to a power outlet for thirty minutes. Plus, suction was amazing and i could do both breasts in 10-15 minutes.
Avatar f tn I use the medela freestyle pump. My insurance covered it 100%.
Avatar f tn These are the times to test 1] preprandial fasting [nothing to eat or drink [except water] for 8-10 hours] - this will provide an insight on how much glucose your liver dumps in anticipation of your awakening energy needed. 2] preprandial [before meal] - this will provide a baseline measurement against how the foods you consumed affected your glucose levels 3] postprandial [2-3 hours after meal] - this is when glucose from foods you consumed plateau in your bloodstream.
Avatar f tn Diagnosed about 4 months ago and use one touch meter to test I have been vigilant watching what I eat.this has happened quite a few timesfor example, . I test two hours after meal and am at 133, which I think is high for what my meal was. Only Two minutes later I test again and meter drops to 117?? Is meter not good or broken? Should I change meters?
Avatar f tn We are trying everything we can and we just today ordered a blood glucose monitor as he is extremely tired all the time. I just hope he does not convert over to fill blown IDDM as his father was.
Avatar n tn m no doctor but when i do get a blood test done i also do a reading on my meter and though they may be off it isn't 10% to 20%. And when i compare my note with my endocrinologist, she says that is well within the lab specs for a test. But i'm usually high in my meter test. Hope other may shed more light on this. Being a little off is within the parameters of lab type tests.
Avatar m tn It's good to see that you are trying to manage your glucose levels b4 they get out of control. An OGTT requires you to be sedentary 2 hours post test. Being active 1 hour post defeated your "homemade" test. See this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glucose_tolerance_test Q: "What can be the normal glucose level after 3-4 hours lunch or dinner time" A: Glucose peaks 2-3 hours after meals where the normal value is <180 mg/dl and the optimum is <140 mg/dl.
