Avatar m tn Hi all. A few weeks ago, I just met a beautiful lady that I really liked. We hung out a few times when she called me 1 day to let me know that she was at the hospital. The reason was an inflammation of the pelvic. I just thought it was a routine disease. She was in excruciating pain but her antibiotics made the pain go away. Fast forward 6 days and we took a trip together and had unprotected sex (this was on 8/31). 3 days later I learned that her pelvic inflammation was caused by Gonorrhea.
Avatar m tn Hi, according to certain studies done, vestibular autorotation test (VAT) is experimental and investigational for the diagnosis of individuals with vestibular disorders or any other indications because its sensitivity, specificity, reproducibility, and clinical utility have not been demonstrated. Regards.
Avatar m tn I just broke up a 7-month relationship with an IV drug user. While I understand that Hep C isn't an STD, our last sexual encounter involved aggressive unprotected oral which gave me a cut on my penis (with a little bit of blood clearly showing) following by unprotected sex. Is this a situation where I should be worried about Hep C if she happens to have it? Thanks.
Avatar m tn I tested for STD'S this morning using a swab and after 20 minutes, the doctor told me that initial tests were negative for all STD's and that the results will be sent to the lab for further results and final outcome will be available in a week. How accurate are the initial results (using the swab) and what are the odds that the lab results are different from the initial results.

Avatar f tn Would you test more that just the TSH to regulate the amount of naturthroid to use? Reverse T3, Free T3, T4 ? What panels would you recommend?
Avatar f tn The ranges are so broad that just being in the lower half of the range frequently results in hypo symptoms. Many members say that symptom relief required Free T3 in the upper part of its range and Free T4 around the middle of its range. If you will please post his thyroid related test results, and reference ranges shown on the lab report, we will be better able to comment further. Also, what thyroid medication and dosage is he taking daily?
Avatar f tn So you need to make sure they always test you for Free T4 and Free T3 every time you go in for tests. I expect that you will find that your Free T3 level is inadequate. You also need to get tested for Reverse T3, which is a mirror image molecule of T3, but biologically inactive. T4 is converted in the body to T3 and Reverse T3. Under some adverse conditions, excess Reverse T3 will be produced, which then adversely affect metabolism of T3 in the cells.
Avatar n tn reasoning, and more by repeating things immediately, 15 minutes later, half hour later, little puzzles and test to test your ability to sort things and solve problems. That test takes a few hours.
Avatar m tn The hospital requires a utility bill showing he is a county residence which he has no home or utility bill that is a requirement. We do not have a health Rite here and we have spent days on the internet calling addiction hotlines they do tell us places but the requirements are as I listed above.
Avatar n tn There were some other results, I did not understand like EIA positive, RPR negative and FTA positive. If my memory serves me well, I tested positive for syphilis or some STD forty years ago, was treated. Would these diseases still show in your blood 40 years later? How common are flase positives?
Avatar m tn Just got the call from my Doctor and I'm virus free so glad...
Avatar m tn 8 range T3 95 ( 76 to 181) Taken at 8 am and no armor since 2nd dose prior day at 3pm Doctor wants to lower, says tsh suppressed and says rarely test free t3 and free t4 because it is difficult to interprete. on armor patience. Says the tsh is the best representation of what the body is sensing. Says this is what may be causing my fatigue and weight gain now. Recent test was requested because of great fatigue since February and sudden weight gain without ability do drop any ( at all).
Avatar m tn I read a lot about importance of heart rate variability and that higher HRV is a strong sign of good health. However my family doctor could not say much about it and aspecially where and how to do this test. Can anyone kelp with this? This discussion is related to MVP and high/variable heart rate.
Avatar f tn A good thyroid doctor will treat a hypo patient clinically by testing and adjusting Free T3 and Free T4 as necessary to relieve symptoms, without being constrained by resultant TSH levels. Symptom relief should be all important, not just test results, and especially not TSH results. You can get some good insight from this letter written by a good thyroid doctor, for patients that he sometimes consults with from a distance after initial evaluation and tests.
Avatar f tn Your TSH is normal, but in your case with symptoms it's very important to check your free T4 and free T3. Without these values you shouldn't try medication, first get those results, then your doctor will see if further analyses are required. I would check also anaemia (Hb, ferritin, transferin, iron in serum, folic acid , Vit B12) and a full blood count.
16295492 tn?1446924672 Instead of the Total T4 test that was done, she should be tested for the biologically active thyroid hormones, Free T4 and Free T3. Typically when TSH is the range, then Free T4 and free t3 will be in the lower part of their ranges. Sometimes doctors will interpret this as being adequate; however, the most important consideration is whether she is having hypothyroid symptoms.
198727 tn?1352054382 TSH is a pituitary hormone that is affected by so many variables that at best it is an indicator, to be considered along with much more important indicators such as symptoms (of which you have plenty), and also levels of the biologically active thyroid hormones, Free T3 and Free T4. Of these Free T3 is the most important, because it largely regulates metabolism and many other body functions.
Avatar f tn So here it is day 5 and guess what? I feel like a person again. A tired person without a whole lot of energy, but a person at any rate. Yesterday was a huge day for me. I (gasp) left the house, picked my kids up from school and actually felt good getting out of here. I went out last night and had a great time. Sleep wasn't good, but I woke up early and a bit of the cloud has lifted. Was out and about for a few hours and crossed a few "to-do's" off my list.
