Avatar f tn It would have been much more useful if he had ordered a Free T3 to accompany the Free T4, since Free T3 is the active thyroid hormone and is used by every cell in the body. What, if any, symptoms do you have? Are you currently on any thyroid medications at this time? If so, which one, what dosage and how long have you been on it?
Avatar f tn Another reason for having a false result on a blood test is because 1) the test was done too early, 2) you are pregnant but having a failed pregnancy, or 3) the hcg hormone does show up but is at a low level indicating no pregnancy. In my case, I had a test done on the day my period was due. Levels came back below 5, which indicates no pregnancy. Three weeks later I was in the emergency room in dire pain from an ectopic pregnancy. So, while I technically failed the blood test, I was pregnant.
Avatar f tn Duhhhh... my mistake!!! I missed the dates above the tests and didn't realize the results above are the new tests you've just had done; I thought you were "getting" tests done!!! Sorry for that. I stand by what I said, originally; your Free T4 is much too low in the range, indicating that your thyroid is not producing and adequate amount of thyroid hormone. Your thyroid produces, both, T4 and T3, but mostly T4.
967168 tn?1477584489 I have so many questions so I don't know where to start. I received some bloodwork from the hospital where I had an ablation done and pacemaker/icd implanted (had problems until recently to get my results) on the results it showed some problem H's & L's but the numbers didn't look too terrible to me. Can anyone point me to somewhere I can find limits for Thyroid testing?
Avatar n tn Go to a neurologist and ask to have a neuropsych test done. it helps them determine what is causing the memory issues. All they do is a bunch of test and memory test with you to help you find out whats wrong.
16295492 tn?1446924672 Instead of the Total T4 test that was done, she should be tested for the biologically active thyroid hormones, Free T4 and Free T3. Typically when TSH is the range, then Free T4 and free t3 will be in the lower part of their ranges. Sometimes doctors will interpret this as being adequate; however, the most important consideration is whether she is having hypothyroid symptoms.
Avatar f tn I have a slightly low free T4. It was at 1 and last test .88. My doc wants to put me on Levothyroxine .25. I’m wondering if this is necessary? It’s still in the normal range, but all the way at the low end. Thank you!!
Avatar f tn The ranges are so broad that just being in the lower half of the range frequently results in hypo symptoms. Many members say that symptom relief required Free T3 in the upper part of its range and Free T4 around the middle of its range. If you will please post his thyroid related test results, and reference ranges shown on the lab report, we will be better able to comment further. Also, what thyroid medication and dosage is he taking daily?
Avatar n tn The ONLY thing that you might consider a blood test for is syphilis, and that can be had for free at your local health department. And maybe a urine test for gonorrhea. Definitley nothing else.
Avatar f tn So you need to make sure they always test you for Free T4 and Free T3 every time you go in for tests. I expect that you will find that your Free T3 level is inadequate. You also need to get tested for Reverse T3, which is a mirror image molecule of T3, but biologically inactive. T4 is converted in the body to T3 and Reverse T3. Under some adverse conditions, excess Reverse T3 will be produced, which then adversely affect metabolism of T3 in the cells.
Avatar n tn reasoning, and more by repeating things immediately, 15 minutes later, half hour later, little puzzles and test to test your ability to sort things and solve problems. That test takes a few hours.
Avatar n tn Hi gibbygabs, If you haven't already ruled out Candida you might want to check it out. I suffered for years. One of the biggest symptoms is foggy head and poor memory. I went to a dr years before I was diagnosed and they sent me home feeling like I was somehow making up my symptoms. I would be happy to answer any questions but if you Google Candida you will find symptom lists and even tests you can take. Also, Google "Candida Spit Test".
Avatar f tn I can understand your feeling. I think that this is way beyond being distracted. I recently answered a similar post and am posting most of it here since I really think it applies. Avatar m tn Hello.. I am a 32-year old male from Manchester, UK. I have had migraines all my life, but last summer I was struck down with a migraine that would not leave for days. Once it finally subsided, I was left with pain on the left side of my head that has not left since then. Occasionally the pain gets so bad, I have to be admitted to hospital. I have seen a neurologist several times and been diagnosed with Hemicrainia Continua. I have had several scans, all which came back normal.
Avatar n tn Hello, if someone thinks he lost consciousness at one point, say during a fight because he has a memory gap that makes sense to him only if he was knocked out, is there a medical test to show that he indeed lost counsciousness? If so, how soon after the knock out would the test have to be performed?
Avatar n tn There were some other results, I did not understand like EIA positive, RPR negative and FTA positive. If my memory serves me well, I tested positive for syphilis or some STD forty years ago, was treated. Would these diseases still show in your blood 40 years later? How common are flase positives?
2120589 tn?1335382292 Is your doctor testing FREE T3 and FREE T4 as well as TSH? FT3 and FT4 are the actual thyroid horomnes and give a much more accurate thyroid profile than TSH alone. If you have FT3 and/or FT4, please post with reference ranges (these vary lab to lab and have to come from your own lab report). Did you feel hypo when your TSH went up? Did your doctor raise your dose from 125 to 200 all at once, or did he raise it in increments?
Avatar f tn Only the unbound (free) portions are biologically active. Free T3 is the most important thyroid hormone test because scientific studies have shown that Free T3 correlated best with hypo symptoms, while Free T4 and TSH did not correlate. If I assumed that your Free T3 and Free T4 levels would reflect the same position within their ranges as your Total T3 and T4 shown above, then I'd say that you are likely hypothyroid currently, due to inadequate medication.
