Avatar f tn There are a ton of books out there for this, as it's quite a fad these days even for people who don't have Celiac, so I'd look into that. But cooking gluten free isn't any different from cooking with gluten unless you're making bread or cookies -- most foods don't contain gluten so you're already eating mostly gluten free unless all you eat is bread and pasta.
1202943 tn?1347840652 For recipe ideas, google Gluten Free Club. The lady has already tried and failed at various recipes before posting recipes that work. You can also just google Gluten Free Recipes. There are insane numbers of resources available now. You do need to understand about binders such as xanthan gum and guar gum that need to be used to make gluten free bread and pastry items work. I wasn't able to use the quinoa pasta, though, because I am also very intolerant to corn.
Avatar n tn Look up I breathe I'm hungry, wonderful page with great keto recipes. Also look up diabetes daily.
1277082 tn?1344057820 Well, I don't really have any actual recipes but I do have advice for you in which it should probably help you out. For us with PCOS, it makes our bodies harder to digest simple carbs (i.e. pasta, breads, rice). So because of this, this is why we gain weight and this is why it takes so long to come off. My suggestions are as follows: Bread: whole grain, high fiber. Anything high fiber (yes it is more calories) works to your advantage, because it will make your body feel more full...
Avatar n tn I am pretty much a vegetarian now. I do eat some fish and chicken breast on occasion though. There are recipes galore on the internet. I mainly stick to the heart healthy and liver healthy recipes. It is a bit more expensive, but I have lost almost 20 lbs. in less than 3 weeks. This is not water weight either! I have cut out all sugar, salt, dairy, wheat, cocoa, and caffeine out of my diet.
Avatar f tn They have told me to eat a fat free and dairy freediet for the next 12 weeks when iI will be checked again as surgery whilst I'm pregnant is risky. I am having a really hard time coming up with recipes and options to fill myself up, so far nothing I make had any flavour and it is putting me off eating. Male My doctor has told me I need to move to a gluten-free diet....yikes!!! All my life (and that is a very long time--ha ha) I have generally eaten whatever I wanted to eat. This change to a GF diet seems like such a huge mountain to climb. I know there are many others who have had to change to a GF diet after a lifetime of eating what they wanted with little or no restrictions. How does a person even get started on a change like this? What do you do when you go out to eat at a restaurant?
Avatar m tn I would like to add by eating well-balanced meals in the correct amounts, along with moderate exercise (like walking) and weight control, you can keep your blood glucose level as close to normal (non-diabetes level) as possible. Follow this link for some good advice along with recipes from the American Diabetes Association. You don't have to pay someone to read this free information. http://www.diabetes.org/nutrition-and-recipes/nutrition/overview.
Avatar f tn Luckily many grocery stores around me carry gluten free foods and there is a strict gluten free/dairy free/vegan bakery close by if I get a sweet tooth.
1461073 tn?1308677548 Hello I am new to this forum and was sitting on the MH site while eating 2 pieces of this pie with whipped cream on top of them (Yes I said 2, Please do not Judge me I am a Weak Chocoholic especially during the Holidays and have made 2 of these pies TWICE since Thanksgiving. So it looks like my New Years Resolution yet again this coming year will be to LOSE WEIGHT)-more about that in year 2011.
1156486 tn?1262394803 On the ThyCa website (thyca.org) look on the upper-left side of the page. Under the heading "Support Services" is the link "Low Iodine Cookbook". Try to get some recipes in the freezer before you go totally medication-free - you'll be pretty tired that last week. Drink lots of water after your I131, suck on sour candy or lemons to flush your salivary glands to prevent damage (permanent dry-mouth is no fun, believe me).
Avatar f tn I recently joined a gym and began changing my eating habits. I have decided to do smoothies for breakfast and have been told that I need protein in my smoothies to counteract the sugar from the fruit. I was wondering if I should just add greek yogurt or if I should purchase a protein powder. My goal is to lose weight so I don't want a powder that is for muscle building. Any suggestions?

Avatar f tn t buy the foods that send you into eating binges. Look up recipes that use healthy ingredients like fresh vegetables and lean meats. Spend your time cooking healthy, delicious recipes and eating food you take an interest in, instead of following your bad habits and eating without thinking.
Avatar n tn org/posts/Weight-Loss--Dieting/Weight-Loss-Challenge-2015/show/2421436 Along with your exercise bike and treadmill (iPod or MP3 player helps keep it from getting so boring), check out YouTube for a wide variety of exercises you can do all for free. There are a lot of dance exercises, walk in place with Leslie Sansome, yoga - all you have to do is google exercise videos and you can come up with all kinds of them that you can switch up your routine with.
637356 tn?1301924822 Just wanted to chime in and add that I'm a member of Spark People too and it really is a fantastic website! It takes the guess work out of figuring out a healthy lifestyle and has many helpful resources and tools to help guide you. I've lost over 90 lbs since I joined a year ago!
Avatar f tn The way I won the battle was to eat in a way that does not make my blood sugar spike, and which would also keep my insulin secretion controlled as well. The eating plan us calked LCHF, which is low fat, moderate protein and high fat. And there are no gimmicks, pills, powders, bars, etc...just real food. Best part is that no calorie counting, eat until full. Also, it canceled my cravings and I no longer snack anymore.
Avatar f tn Wraps! There is soo many different things you can do with them., My husbands favorite is wheat wrap, then spread cream cheese on it (you can do low fat), and sprinkle some garlic powder on the cream cheese, spinach leafs, then turkey, rolled up. Sooo good, sounds a little weird but it's really good!
Avatar f tn For the past 2 weeks I have been following an anti inflammatory diet. I was eating granola with coconut and chia seeds with a tiny bit of milk (hormone free) and fresh fruits for breakfast. Then for lunch I would eat salad with a piece of baked chicken. I would eat the same for dinner too. I bought some organic free range chicken tenders, seasoned it then baked it and used that throughout the week.

Avatar m tn Suggest gathering some recipes online to help you with additional methods of cooking/eating quinoa. You are taking a medication that has side effects of dizziness and weight gain (cravings). Suggest when you do have cravings that are very strong, you eat 'empty' calorie foods such as water, diet jello, and salad with very little dressing. Thank you for your question.
