Avatar f tn This is an important screening test for thyroid problems for everyone, but for someone whose symptoms fluctuate, I would think it would be crucial. You should also test FREE T4 and FREE T3 when you test your TSH. All the symptoms you describe...EVERY one...are symptoms of under-medication. I hope you can get your health care situation sorted out, it sounds like you need your medication adjusted.
Avatar n tn Welcome back to the forum. But I am concerned that you remain overly concerned about HIV despite exposure events with little or no risk. The professional consensus on the rapid HIV tests, both on blood and oral fluids, is clear: they give falsely positive results from time to time, but negative result are 100% reliable when done more than 6 weeks (and for sure 3 months) or more after the last exposure. Your test results prove you aren't infected.
1807132 tn?1318743597 I am fully aware I am not a medical doctor and make comments based on personal experience and web research. I try to be mindful of this and forewarn those I talk with. However, if you see a subject line that peaks your professional interest and I have already posted a comment please feel free to add your expert input. You may have knowledge to add that I just don't have.

Avatar m tn I am a 51 yr old male, whose thyroid panel shows a tsh of .88 and my Free T4 and T3 were normal, but on the low end of the spectrum. I have been having hot flashes where my face instantly looks as if I am sunburned and it feels like it is on fire. I have been irritable, restless, yet tired; hungry all the time, suffered from A-fib at least once a month. Could I have hyperthyroidism, even though my results are in the low side of the normal range? I need to find out how to proceed!

Avatar n tn Hello, have been having just unbelievable fatigue for several months - finally got endocrinologist to test thyroid fully - he says all is normal, but to my untrained eye, it looks like I may be on the low end on some of these readings - I know it is very complicated. I have taken Effexor XR for 4-5 years. T3 Uptake 33 (30-39) Thyroxine 5.4 (4.8-13.9) Free Thyroxine Index 1.8 (1.1-4.3) TSH 2.250 (0.358-3.
449440 tn?1206887304 It is only an antidepressant. I suspect the depression has come after the OCD. In most cases, the depression in OCD is a reactive depression. You treat the OCD effectively and you have treated the depression. Fluvoxamine is a good option for you to consider for the OCD. It is recommended for co-existent OCD and Trourette's syndrome. Addition of a dopamine antagonist (Neuroleptic) helps. Pimozide has been found beneficial when taken with Fluvoxamine.
Avatar f tn If you happen to have high cortisol binding globulin (or if you are on birth control, or other medications that bind free cortisol), you will not test high for saliva or urine as that type of cortisol will be bound so you may be plenty sick, but it will not show up in the test simply by the nature of the test. If your doctor was an expert, he would know that. He should test CBG and figure it out. GPs are not experts - you need to find someone that knows Cushing's.
Avatar m tn At the time I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditus an auto-immune disease, My TSH 12.5, many here have gone much higher.

Avatar n tn Just google low iodine diet and i'm sure the thyca.org web site will come up with all the details about what you can / cannot eat. Mostly, you CANNOT have anything that you dont make yourself, you cannot have milk or soy or eggs or salt, or anything that contains any of those things. Eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies and home made bread without salt, some meat is allowed, but not much, no seafood.... Like I said, there is tons of info on the thyca web site. Goodluck!
822804 tn?1298226302 Doctors are required to provide you a copy of the test results if requested. Make sure you always get a copy for your records. For information, the reference range for TSH used to be .5-5.0. About 5 years ago the Amer. Assn. of Clinical Endocrinologists recognized that a lot of suspect hypothyroid patients were included in that data base. When these were screened out the range was revised to .3-3.0. Unfortunately it seems that most labs and doctors have yet to adopt the new range.
Avatar f tn These is a a forum started on this site already although I know that you can find info out on the web. This discussion is related to UPPER ARM ITCH-I'M NOT CRAZY EITHER.
Avatar m tn I did look at the web site and I note that they do not tell us which tet they are using. There is a "point of care", rapid test for herpes available-whether they use it or not I cannot say. There is little to suggest that you have herpes to start with. This test result seems to suppoort my opinion. Hopefully now you will move on.
Avatar f tn Alright, so here's the scenerio. I'm at 37 days opiate free. Called my Dr the first week and let her know that I cannot be prescribed oxycodone anymore. It was a Saturday when she returned my call wanted me to come to her office on Tuesday (I think). I then left her a message that I was unable to get to the office (stomach issues due to w/d)..but that I wanted to reschedule primarily to discuss best way to taper xanax. (No call back) I have been trying to reach her by phone..

It was the prostate. This has rocked my foundation and I'm treated for depression but still it's a tough time . I allowed myself a one time experiment with m/m encounter as a bucket list experience .
