depression

Avatar n tn Hi, depression and anxiety are clinical diagnoses that a doctor will test you for. There are some simple forms online that might give you an idea but a doctor is your best bet to fully determine if you suffer these things. When it is a disorder and not just a bad day, you will have symptoms for 2 weeks straight at least, and every day. Stress is not a disorder and something most people Will have from time to time.
Avatar m tn 19) but normal TSH (0.81, normal range 0.46-4.68 mUI/l). Suffer from clinical depression, poor memory/concentration and debilitating fatigue - physical and mental. Doc thinks depression and prescribes SSRIs/SSNRIs. I think fatigue is causing depression and not vice versa. My morning blood sugar is just over the norm but other blood tests for diabetes are normal.
Avatar f tn im currently studying clinical depression and its effects, could anyone hel me by completing a questionaire????
Avatar f tn however, you are missing the most important thyroid hormone test, which is Free T3. Total T3 is not very useful, as most T3 is bound to protein molecules and thus not biologically active. Only the Free portion of T3 is available to regulate metabolism and many other body functions. Also, it would be a good idea to test for Reverse T3, which is biologically inactive.

1032715 tn?1315984234 Hi Narla, A lot in your post to think about. First thing I should say to you is that the term "clinical depression" simply means a case of depression being treated by a clinician, a doctor. OK. So it's depression, nothing different about it except you are seeing a doc whereas many do not and thuis the term clinical does not apply to them. You follow? The biggest thing that jumps out is nearly 15 years on meds and 14.5 on one med, Zoloft.
Avatar n tn I see many here that lab test out normal or sub clinical - as you but antibodies are above the scale causing issues for the patient. You may want to look into those tests with your doctor.
1562823 tn?1295112132 Talk to your psychiatrist they should know your condition and help you stop the med safely. That is their job. Wellbutrin can take from 5 to 8 days for the drug to be eliminated from the body. "Based on its complex pharmacokinetics, your doctor should be recommending that you reduce your dosage by 100–150mg a day (for the more popular SR and XL forms, 75mg for the immediate release form), every week if you need to stop taking Wellbutrin, if not more slowly than that.
Avatar f tn From what you say I suspect that you are having a clinical depression. You could try this screening test online... http://depression.about.com/cs/diagnosis/l/bldepscreenquiz.htm Let me know what the results are. I would think that there should be some way of accessing help through student health?
Avatar f tn This is an important screening test for thyroid problems for everyone, but for someone whose symptoms fluctuate, I would think it would be crucial. You should also test FREE T4 and FREE T3 when you test your TSH. All the symptoms you describe...EVERY one...are symptoms of under-medication. I hope you can get your health care situation sorted out, it sounds like you need your medication adjusted.
Avatar f tn Wondered if anyone can help. I had a ultrasound scan on my thyroid in November and was told it is inflammed on the right side and has cyst on it. My doctor has been useless and will only ever do tsh blood test.. Last tsh test were 0.34 then 0.70. She says I don't need anymore test but I don't think its right.
520191 tn?1355635402 So, I suggest that you ask your doctor if he is willing to test and adjust Free T3 and Free T4 as necessary to relieve symptoms, without being constrained by resultant TSH levels. Also ask if he is willing to prescribe T3 meds. If either answer is no, then you will have to provide enough info to him to change his mind, or you will need to find a good thyroid doctor who will do both.
Avatar f tn Sorry if this is a bit of a rant but a couple weeks ago I put all the pieces together and I strongly feel that I am hypo. I went to a Dr who has good word of mouth reccomendations. He did do a good job of asking me questions but at the end of this he said he would test me for TSH and low iron. If those come back "normal" he said that I have clinical depression! I know what clinical depression is as I went thru a bout of it about 10 years ago!
Avatar m tn free T3 free T4, T3 uptake and thyroid antibody's.i had also noticed the lymph node gland in my groin area felt swollen.i'am just tired of feeling like this, and would like anyone's advice on what i should do.i dont have health insuarance so iam hoping the free health clinic can do the testing.thanks your help.
Avatar m tn You have obviously spent a lot of time reading up on HIV- try reading about the signs and symptoms of clinical depression, or take an online screening test, and see how you match up to that. It's possible that there may be other causes of symptoms, but generally when a doctor cannot find anything physically wrong with someone in your situation, an emotional disorder has to be at least suspected.
Avatar n tn pdf So when you go in for your next appointment, I think it would be a good idea to give the doctor a copy of the letter and talk about the need for clinical treatment, and testing of Free T3 and Free T4. If the doctor resists, then you should insist on it and don't take no for an answer. Some additional tests that might be useful would be for Vitamin D and B12.
Avatar m tn i The diagnosis of thyroid insufficiency, and the determination of replacement dosing, must be based upon the patient’s symptoms first, and on the free T4 and free T3 levels second. The TSH test helps only to determine the cause. Even here, “normal” may not be good enough. The labs’ reference ranges for free T4 and free T3 are not optimal ranges; but only 95%-inclusive statistical population ranges. The lower limits are below those seen in studies of healthy adults. They define only 2.
