Avatar f tn For about 4 years one of my friends has been talking about the EAT RIGHT FOR YOUR BLOOD TYPE book. I thought it was a bunch of non sense, but a couple of years ago I did try to find out my blood type and none of the nurses I asked could find it. Well, some of you know I just had a baby (see Having a Seroquel baby on Med Help) I found out I have O positive blood, my baby had A positive and it could have been a medical problem, but thankfully she is doing well.
Avatar n tn t drink fruit juices or anything else except diet soda, water, and diet teas or sugar free Kool Aid. But if I drink the sugar free stuff I get so "gassy" and diarrhea. This part ***** big time. I asked her about testing my blood sugar and she told me I didn't need to as I am not full blown type II- just to be sure to follow the diabetics diet. I do this and have had no other symptons like she told me about, and I feel great- physically.
637356 tn?1301924822 Im not sure if any website would offer that for free (there might be, but I don't know of any for free). But to be honest if you cut out any type of soda, junk food and excess sugar you will see weight loss. You could also try googling "healthy meals" and see what you can come up with and kind of put everything together. also if you try not to eat to many bread products that will also help with the weight loss too. Good Luck!!!
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes for several years. The diet is the same diet recommended for Type 1 diabetes. Your doctor or The ADA can give you a copy of the recommended diet. The difference in the diet for Type 2 is that you do not have to eat on such a strict schedule. Please be careful to check your blood sugars often. You should not have more than 3 servings of carbs per meal as recommended by the ADA.
Avatar f tn I am looking for a menu eating plan that is already set out for me telling me what to eat fro Breakfast, lunch and dinner, I do not have the time to weigh my food etc. So I am asking can someone help me please! I basically eat anything, not a lover of red meat.
Avatar n tn Welcome 19Peanut76 to the MedHelp Type 2 Diabetes Community! You need to set up a meal plan with your healthcare provider that's achievable for you and includes weight loss as a goal. Here's some advice on how to create a diet that works for you from the Sugar Sense app and MedHelp.org http://www.medhelp.org/nutrition/articles/Whats-Your-Best-Diet/1642 You can also find this in the app in the Health Guide.
Avatar n tn Hi Lizzy, you are still diabetic... completely normal blood glucose is a hba1c of 5.0 or less. Prediabetic is usually considered as 5.7 - 6.5, and diabetic as 6.5. But being diabetic is sometimes likened to being pregnant... whether 6 weeks or 9 months you are still pregnant. So slightly high or very high, is still diabetic. To give you some perspective. Normal blood sugars will typically be < 100 all the time. Hba1c of 6.9 gives you average BG of about 160. Hab1c of 6.
Avatar n tn He is eating the carbs appropriately, but is still hungry. What can he eat and still stay within the diet. Can he have more meat or vegetables???? Can he have a snack? And what about all this sugar free stuff - it still has carbs?? We're so confused! We're going to the doctor tomorrow and are going to the education classes as soon as we can, but I wanted to get some advice from some of you who have dealt with this for a while.
8369322 tn?1397826669 You don't need a diet plan but a healthier meal plan for yourself. We should not deprive ourselves being diabetic to eat good foods. Just to share with you, I still eat fish, meats, fruits, and vegetables. I have it baked, steamed, boiled, stewed just the way I like it. I had this meal last week (http://tgp.com.ph/blog/5-recipes-high-blood-sugar-bay/) see for your self. Also, remember canned and processed foods/fruits are superbly BIG NO NO!
Avatar f tn Also, if he has been pretty much carb free, his liver may be dumping glucose into his blood to make up for it. Also, if he's been eating next to no carbs, that will make his body even more insulin resistant. Even a nondiabetic who eats no/low carbs, then suddenly eats carbs will see a more drastic spike than a nondiabetic who hasn't been lowcarbing. These are just a few things to consider. Has he seen an endo? Or is it just his family Dr telling him to exercise more?
1652468 tn?1302900498 The first step in any holistic plan is to clean up the diet. Eliminate refined foods. Eat a whole-food diet including unrefined sugar, salt, oil, and flour, and as much organic produce as possible. Also, drink adequate amounts of water. How much water? Take your weight (in pounds), and divide by two. The resulting number is the amount of water, in ounces, you should ingest daily. It is impossible to overcome arthritis in a dehydrated condition.
Avatar n tn Should I exercise before meals in an effort to bring my before-meal blood sugar down enough for it to be OK to eat something? (I do not experience low blood sugar, even when I fast for a few days).
Avatar n tn I was wondering how you managed your diabetes and how strict you are with your diet, like do you only eat set meals throughout the day and stay away from foods with a high glycemic index? If you do eat foods with a high GI, like a banana, do you wait a while after taking your insulin to give it a headstart?
Avatar n tn She/he will direct you to an appropriate diet for your lifestyle and activity level, while taking into consideration your diabetes. Make an appointment today. You will feel better knowing that someone is guiding you in the right direction when it comes to diabetes and weight. Again, good luck.
5536886 tn?1455827346 Many of us who have gestational diabetes will get cleared of diabetes after pregnancy, but should you still be careful what you eat after? Did you know that there is a chance that you will develop type 2 diabetes later in life after having gestational diabetes? Do you have a game plan for how to help manage your health after pregnancy so you don't have to deal with a type 2 diagnosis later?
Avatar n tn have you been tested for those? For hypothyroid, you need to be tested for TSH, Free T3 and Free T4. Monitoring blood sugar levels will help identify insulin resistance. Recommend that you get tested further. Often metformin is prescribed for PCOS; has your doctor mentioned that? metformin often helps people lose weight, because it improves insulin sensitivity. Cycling for 10 minutes/day is good, but probably not enough.
1802952 tn?1315981161 I'm trying to find a good diet for me. The thing is I had my gallbladder taking out and I can't eat a lot of foods like I could before. Is there a good diet plan for someone who had their gallbladder taking out? Also, I'm a picky eater..LOL! I think that's why I do so bad on diets.
1720613 tn?1309432604 It's in your best interest when you follow your doctors instructions. Proper nutrition means to accentuate the positive when it comes to food. I dislike the word diet. “Diet” implies a rigorous, self-sacrificial discipline that’s doomed to fail. Instead, focus on achieving food goals of what you should eat each day rather than what you shouldn’t eat.
Avatar f tn Usually, when extra weight is a factor, the reason for type 2 diabetes is high levels of free fatty acids and triglycerides in the blood (they interfere with glucose absorption in muscle cells). The only sure way to lower the levels of fatty acids and triglycerides in the blood is to get rid of excess body fat. Then muscle cells will be able to feed on glucose unimpeded and this will lead to its lower level in the blood.
Avatar n tn Hi Newtoit, I'm a volunteer here and I've had Type 1 diabetes for over 11 years. It must be a difficult and a bit confusing time for your family right now, dealing with your newly diagnosed diabetic child, but it's wonderful that in such a short time you have managed to gather a lot of vital information. Having diabetes or caring for someone who has it is an ongoing learning process. Just keep that in mind whenever you feel frustrated, because we all go through it.
