Unless you are drinking highy polluted water it's not likely water alone would cause any of those symptoms.

Normally, diluted urine doesn't have much odor. If you're dehydrated and your urine becomes highly concentrated, it can have a strong ammonia smell.
Depending on where you live, your town's water supply may use a lot of ammonia or bleach to purify it. In my town, they use so much you can smell it right out of the tap. When you intake this, it is filtered out through the kidneys and down the urinary tract during urination, but your body will find other ways of getting it out too, like sweating or during ejaculation. Drinking bottled water should prevent this, if that's the case with your husband.
If the liver is decompromised it cannot metabolize the waste products hence there is an elevation of blood ammonia levels resulting in increased excretion in the urine. Also, increased levels of ammonia may also be seen with gastrointestinal bleeding, where the blood cells are haemolysed in the intestines, releasing protein. Lately when I urinate, it smells very strongly, but not of ammonia or of any of the other common complaints; more like animal urine (a very strong urine smell). I drink a lot of water, urinate regularly, and have no other symptoms. What could this be, should I be worried?
Could be an infection or it could mean you are not drinking enough water. My urine smelled like peanuts (gross, I know), and I told my midwife at my appointment... She tested it and basically it was just a high pH (very alkaline) so I drink apple cider vinegar occasionally to keep my urine pH at a normal level. She wasn't worried in my situation at all... I was just more grossed out than anything.
So, just ask your doc/midwife to check your urine.

Does anyone on here use dye thats not ammonia free? I get worried at times bcuss wehn I died my hair 2 weeks ago I didnt use ammonia free. I used the garnier frutis hair dye. But I was outside wehn i was dying it. But some girls say use the ammonia free dye. Was I still safe? & are u not supposed to put it on your scalp?

You just want to minimize your caffeine intact you are allowed to have some during the day. YOu just don't want to get jittery because baby will get the same effects. Just keep on trying with the water and add some flavor to make it more interesting, I will add crystal light in mine. you can also try fizzy water, they have some good flavored ones, the bubbles make you feel like you are drinking soda.
I think I started this post just to ask if he would excrete ammonia in his urine if his levels were high; it's beginning to appear to me that this is the case. Any idea if this is an early or later sign of the progression of this disease? Without him agreeing to see the doctor, I have to depend on the knowledge of others.

So I ask, why and how does drinking plenty of water throughout the day (some say 2-4 liters) help with weight loss? What is the science behind it and the basic (in lamense terms) answer behind it?
