Fraxel laser acne scars

Common Questions and Answers about Fraxel laser acne scars

Do you know what type of acne scars fraxel is best for?
I've heard of smooth beam and fraxel, but don't know if they work for acne scars. I've also read about peels and skin punch (where the scar is cut out). Any suggestions?
I have recently had fraxel refine treatment done on two scars. I have just been reading about a lady who had treatment done and then 1-2 years later her face is a mess (http://www.realself.com/review/do-not-do-fraxel-ruined-face-burns. ) I am really scared now. Does fraxel cause damage that may not show tell sometime later. Or is her case rare. Same with IPL is this safe?
I have done some research and we want to try laser treatment to help improve the scarring. We have seen a derm doc and he recommended Fraxel laser treatment and said that we could reasonably expect about a 50% improvement in the scarring. My question is how long do we have to wait after stopping Accutane treatment before starting this laser treatment ? If the answer is at least 6 months can you explain why so I can explain it to my son since he wants to start right away?
I'm booked in for a fraxel laser treatment on my nose cheeks and forehead for large open pores and "ice pick" scarring (or is this the same thing)? Can anyone tell me of their own experiences with this or someone they know maybe??? Was it successful or a total waste of time, money and pain? There is so much info on the internet about this I just want to hear the opinions of some "real" people. I'm getting really nervous about it. Help!!!
Hi, I have had acne and acne scars since my early teen years (i am currently 20). I recently underwent 3 fraxel laser treatments to clear my scarring, and shortly after I went on Roaccutane for my remaining pimples. These have done wonders for me, however a lot of my pores are big and visible, and my skin has red scars and very uneven skin tone remaining.

But, the only way to get rid of (or at least greatly minimize) pitted scarring is via Carbon Dioxide Laser, Fraxel laser or a course of medium to deep peels. Dermabrasion can also work very well but it's very invasive, so I wouldn't personally recommend it unless your scarring is exceptionally bad. I have personally had the Carbon Dioxide Laser, so I can say from experience that it really does work wonders . It gave me back my beautiful scar-less skin.
Am contemplating co2 laser treatment for ice pick acne scars. Have some "rolling" hills too. have already tried "Fraxel" - not impressed have recently read about subcision for releasing damaged dermal. Is co2 laser treatment the same as Fraxel?
My biggest concern though is for my hypertrophic scars. Which treatment works best for the type of scars i have. Dermapen, fraxel? im not a candidate for co2 fraction laser because of my dark skin. What do you suggest based on my pictures?
I have this small white bumpy spots in face and also in my arms some of them are flat also, i have gone thru several treatments fraxel, laser treatments, needle laser treatment, the dermatogies think are scars from acne but i never had that bad of acne. i'm starting to think it might be an alergy to something that i'm eating? or putting in my face, the only thing that i was putting in my face are to shave and after shave that's about it. any suggestion? i will appreciate it Thanks.
My nose suffered from acne and it left with ice-pick scars, dark marks, and bumpy nose. It has been over a year now but it still there. Which method would be best to treat these 3? Would it be laser rejuv...?
I've done everything I can to get rid of acne scars, I've tried so many different ways and spent too much on trying to find a way of clearing my face but nothing is working and I need help. I just don't know what to do next. What can I do about acne and scars?
I have acne scars and general poor skin from going on roaccutane for my acne. I want rid of the scars and just a general rejuvenation of skin but so far every doctor I've seen has told me something different.
I agree Retin-a is great for helping to slowly shed the red marks left from acne scars, but it's a slow process and will have little-no effect on pitted scars. It also leaves your skin very red and flaky for quite a few months (make sure you moisturize, with a ph balancing, perfume-free cream). Besides that I've been going to the dermatologist and I got a prescription for hydroquinone USP 4% to bleach all my dark acne scars but it I've used it for more than 3 months and it's not showing any signs of improvement. I don't know what to do with myself, I'm eating good, excercising, washing my face and I try not to touch my face but the breakouts are not stopping and i'm feeling self conscious from my acne spots.
I hope you can clear up some confusion. My son (age 21) has had cystic, nodular acne - quite severe. He has been off Acutane for two years and remained clear of new acne. The scarring left is predominantly in both jaw areas and is quite deep. He is a caucasion of average skin tone - not dark, not extremly light complected. I have gotten conflicting advice from several sources about the most effective laser. Leaving healing time, pain, cost, etc.
and how it worked for them and how much it costed. Some one told me fraxel laser is the better for holes and icepick like scars, but i havent seen any great reviews on it. What have you used and was it worth it.. how effective was it?
This image will be about two weeks after a scab had come off of it. I've been looking into getting some fraxel laser treatment for it if I don't see any improvements in another two weeks or so. I can't imagine this scar would be hard to treat, seeing how small it is.
The accutane seems to be preventing many flareups and I am grateful for that. UNFORTUNATELY, the pimples I am getting are NOT healing or at least most are not. Many have remained for a month. They appear to be scars. Similar to what I have on my back from my twenties. I am VERY worried, as I have never had on my face before-just the pitting type of scarring. What should I do? My main question is this I guess: Has accutane caused this in the past in other people???
I thought about making an appointment at a skin and laser office. They offer this treatment called Fraxel, but I am not sure it will work on these kinds of scars, the yellowish brown marks that remain, but are not raised. Does anyone know if this Fraxel treatment would help? The consultaion appointment is 75 dollars so I dont really want to go if they cant do anything for me. The treatment is expensive, but honestly, i am willing to pay any amount to get rid of these scars at this point.
