Avatar f tn I know some people have said there are no side effects from Cortef and that it's probably my dose is too low, but I now have at least 10 of the side effects listed on the prescription information website. These also all start within minutes of taking a dose (I'm currently taking 25mg). I get headaches, become extremely thirsty, heart pounding, very dizzy and weak, feel like I'm going to pass out.

Even though I'm on the lowest dose I do get quite a bit of side effects as far as being overtired and dragging. My cardiologist now has started me on verapamil because my BP has been running high. I'm just afraid this is going to make me even more tired and dragging. Is anybody on this combo and if so how have the side effects been?

But i agree that BP meds can be more harmful but inevitable though. sodium valproate is known to cause ovary cist, thinning the hair and gain weight. But no one can argue with your pdoc as to why he chose this one. unless you are consulting a GP which is wrong the British medical guide always choose one of 3: tegretol or dapakote (sodium valproate) or lithium these are the 3 most classical that went for years. I myself am on antipsychotics only.

Avatar f tn No it sounds like you are either have a bad side effect from gabapentin or are allergic to it. I took 1200mg a day for several months and had no side effects other than being tired and memory problems. I haven't taken baclofen, so i don't know the side effect of that drug. Usually, muscle relaxers don't give you that bad of a headache. You may want to try Flexeril or another muscle relaxer.

One thing I did notice was that my doctor didn't tell me about side effects until I would specifically ask about one. So you probably should let your doc know about the numbness or at least ask your pharmacist if it's a known side effect.
Avatar f tn s no way to completely avoid weight gain or moon face as a side effect from prednisone. They are both known, common side effects and many people who have to take prednisone get them. I know about them first hand - I've had to be on prednisone quite often and often at VERY high doses, and I always get the moon face and weight gain with it, even if my eating/exercise habits don't change a bit.

"if low blood pressure, weakness, cramping, or palpitations worsen..." I'm guessing the cramping one because it lists as a rare side effect low blood potassium level. Are you monitoring her blood pressure at home? They list high blood pressure as a rare side effect.
