fosamax side effects hair loss

Good morning, I saw my Dr. this morning and he would like to start taking fosamax,after reading all the side effects i'm not sure i should.

I saw a Professor of Endocrinology in Feb 2008, referred by my bc surgeon, as this guy has an academic interest in side effects of Arimidex. He suggested I continue with Arimidex and Fosamax to prevent further bone loss, but I cannot stand the pain and disturbance to my sleep. Does anyone have any experience of stopping Arimidex and getting a different med that does not have the side effect of bone pain?

How long after taking gabapentin will the side effects last. I have hair loss. I stopped taking gabapentin about four or five months ago.

I read what the publish side effect say, but it does say not all listed side effects are listed and itprovides a way to get the "complte list" I sure hope it doesn't include hair loss, I've lost enough hair already and just went on Flecainide today

My wife is a 65 year old in good health who has taken FOSAMAX for 5 1/2 years. She wants to get her teeth straightened. The periodontist has recommended a procedure to reinforce the gums prior to the braces. This has added an additional 6K to the price and about 3 months to the total time to straighten the teeth.

Hello Emanuelle, I definitely feel for your concern. Although I am 36 I have pretty severe osteoporosis and at one time was recommended to take medication for it. I have several spinal injuries which have resulted in Degenerative Disk Disease, other joint syndromes and overall bone density loss. I had not personally heard of the the fractures (femur) from the Fosamax, but I did hear of the other risk factors for some of the older drugs.

I would search for any lawsuits against the manufacturer of Fosamax for injury like this resulting on facial bone loss and tooth loss. Seems to be me they should pay for any corrective dental or medical treatment and pay compensation for pain and suffering. I've read negative things about this drug and it's ironic that it is advertised as preventing bone loss, and yet it accelerates it.

Hair loss is sometimes a side effect of taking beta blockers. Not sure if there's a way to stop that other than changing medications. You have normal sinus rhythm but it's fast? How fast? If it's consistently over 100, you should talk to your cardio about that. It's not normal or healthy. Your meds may need to be adjusted.

What did your prescribing doctor say about the side effects caused by the Fosamax and how to deal with it? I understand your feelings about how the facial pain affects your quality of life. Because it's something people can't see -- it's sometimes hard for our families/friends to understand. It took me a long while to get my husband to understand what I was dealing with, with symptomatic TN.

I also kept my hair with Gemzar. But I do have to admit that it was a hard chemo for me. I was also on the 3 week on and 1 week off schedule. Keep in mind, as Gail said, chemo affects all of us differently. But after my treatments, I had about 2 hours before it started to hit me. I never experienced nausea or vomiting, but I felt really bad for about 3 days. The upside was that after I was on it for awhile, the side effects gradually started to ease up.

She went to a doctor yesterday about her hair and the doctor told her that it was because of this medication (Lydrica) But I have seen all side effects and none talk about hair lost. And my mother does not want to leave this medication because its the only one that works for her burning feet. Has anybody else expirence hair loss with Lydrica?She also takes Cymbalta 60mg,lyrica 75mg, Nexuim 40mg, and Tramabol 50mg. What do you all suggest she get tested for ?

t have many of the standard thyroid symptoms listed in most places --but have had a lot of more than usual hair loss over the past 6 mos. ( & my hair stylist says the consistency is like women with thyroid issues) & dry skin. I do take Fosamax. My mom is 87 & has been on thyroid meds for about 20 yrs. I am seeing an endocrinologist on Monday --any recommendations for other tests - or what these mean --especially the first one? Thank you!

s merely the remnants of a cold. However, I am losing an insane amount of hair, above the average hair loss due to postpartum. Is this the combo of thyroid, meds and postpartum... I'm on tapazole 10mg daily dose. Is there something I can do? I had my blood work done on Friday and WBC was normal... does it fluctuate easily? I appreciate your help. Thanks.

I used both, and found that side effects are similar; tiredness, weight gain, and a slow pulse. Side effects are more pronounced as the dosage is increased. I had dosages from 25mg to 200mg. daily. Other reported effects are loss of libido, tightness in the chest, itching, irregular breathing, and irregular heartbeat. If you have any further questions, I'd be happy to respond based on my experience with the drug.

I have been reading the posts on here about post treatment side effects and I was wondering how many of you have had severe hair loss? I only treated for 24 weeks but had lots of problems throughout treatment. I am 2 and half months post tx. Anyhow my hair will grow for about 4 to 7 days max then it falls back out. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hello, I was just reading about an older dog having a problem with urinary incontinence and the treatment she was given, particularly the possible side effects. My White Bearded Collie (13 years old) started being incontinent last year and my vet has prescribed INCURIN 1mg daily. This has been mostly effective (just the odd occurrence when she was asleep or distressed). I was just concerned that it may have some serious side effects such as those mentioned for the other treatment (PPA).

I know that the liver processes all drugs and reading the side effects is scaring me. I have stage 2 fibrosis and failed the traditional interferon/ribavirin treatment already.

Do you mean Fosamax (alendronate)? If you do, its for treating bone problems like Osteoperosis by adding bone mass and slows bone loss. I use it for Osteopenia.
