symbicort
i suffer with asthma, sinusitis and sarcoisosis and have taken predisone for years. It would be nice not to have to take this medication as it cause swelling and weight gain. i want to cut back on eating but having to take this med every day will not help me, please suggest s solution.
There are many philosophies, but one protocol suggests albuterol should be used first and ipratropium five minutes later. Try the foradil (formoterol fumarate inhalation power). It too is expensive, but the company provides free samples.
Initially it started with allergies,then asthma.....initial days my ventolin and formoterol inhalers were working, but last 3 years it is not helping much...
I checked FEV which is 68% of predicted...but no significant increase in FEV1 after bronchodialator....
Every day I feel little tightnes, even if I take symbicort...daily moring and evening.....
saw pulmonologyst 5 months back, he suggested to continue with the same+singulair....

I am going to recommend you save up your pennies and get some Foradil (formoterol fumerate inhalation powder). It is VERY expensive, but the 12mcg packets work almost immediately and are more effective than the albuterol sulfate. The Foradil will last for a long time. It will save you a hospital bill on a bad day. The albuterol suflate is short-acting. The steroidal inhalers do NOT work immediately.
You and he/she will have to resort to other preparations, to include a different inhaled steroid, such as Flovent® HFA Inhalation Aerosol (fluticasone propionate), either alone or in combination with a long-acting bronchodilator, like Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate) or Foradil® Aerolizer™ (formoterol fumarate inhalation powder), such a combination being either Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Aerosol or Symbicort® (budesonide/formoterol fumarat

Does Symbicort 80/4.5 (budesonide 80 mcg and formoterol fumarate dihydrate 4.5 mcg) Inhalation Aerosol effect the eyes? Does it raise the interocular pressure if used with known glaucoma?

If you are really insistent about cheating death I would suggest you have your physician prescribe formoterol fumarate inhalation powder. It is sold as the "foradil aerolizer".
It is long acting, and an alternative to oral steroids. It should settle down your lungs for a good three to four hours after use.
My Mom who is now 52 years old is suffering from Asthma from the past 28 years and has been on regular medication to prevent any asthma attacks. She takes around 4-5 shots of the drug from the nebuliser and has been regularly checking for any kind of alternative drug. I am just curious to know if there is any kind of surgery available that cures asthma or if there are any good drugs/medications available newly. I would really appreciate your thoughts on the same.

Another potentially helpful, oral medicine is called theophylline. Your doctor may also want to prescribe this.
You should have your blood oxygen level checked, in case it is low and you would need supplemental oxygen.
I was also taking anti-fungals having developed thrush from probably formoterol fumarate inhalers. I am also dealing with ringworm. Nothing grew from the cultures taken from blood, sputum, or a specimen from endoscopy.
The pneumonia abated and while at home I felt remarkably better. Then my girlfriend noticed my hair was falling out at an alarming rate. While looking at the hair in my hand I noticed my fingernails had no cuticles! Feet are also affected.
Some medications have both a steroid plus formoterol. My feeling is to try the formoterol fumarate alone, and see if that solves the problem before going to the dual-medication formulas.
A similar drug, Formoterol (Combined with the inhaled steroid, Budesonide, in the drug Symbicort) while in the same class, might not have the same properties and perhaps might not exhibit the same cardiac stimulatory effect as Serevent. You might want to discuss this with your doctor.

You should have another follow-up x-ray, now. The prescription of Symbicort® (budesonide/formoterol fumarate dehydrate) Inhalation Aerosol does not mean you have asthma. It only means that your doctor suspects that you might have it.
Given that it is now nearly 4 months since the bout of pneumonia, you deserve further diagnostic evaluation by a lung specialist.
I went to a doc who said it was probably asthma and prescribed formoterol/budesonide and montelukast sodium. A few months later, my bedroom was treated for termite infestation, the fumes of which I presumed cleared up after about 4 days. After returning to my bedroom for a few nights, I woke up in a panic with severe SOB.

t really make a diagnosis and prescribed me with some sort of nasal spray, insisted that I take anti-histamine to rule out allergies, and also prescribed me Symbicort, Budesonide/formoterol. After 10 days treatment, the breathing issues became agitated.
The last doctor suggested referral to a specialist, I'm not entirely sure of which one, something to do with throat and breathing.
Oral prednisone has been misused and also makes one prone to bacterial lung infection, but on a short-term (a very short term - no more than five days), it seems to be very helpful in reducing the time that the lung returns to normal. Foradil (formoterol fumarate) can also be helpful until the lung "settles down", even if you don't use it 365 days a year.
As far as the "shortnress of breath" being linked to the asthma - probably, but not necessarily.
