Avatar m tn Ventolin or salbutamol is a rescue inhaler, that means you take this when you have an episode of Asthma. There are reliever inhalers which work for up to 12 hours after taking each dose. They include salmeterol (brand name Serevent) and formoterol (brand name Atimos). Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.
746512 tn?1388807580 I'm having a lot of trouble lately with my asthma control now that I've started classes again. I seem to be ultra sensitive now (more than I was last year on campus) of cigarette smoke. I have to walk outside to get to some of classes and if I pass more than one person smoking or get too many wifts in my face, my chest really tightens up and I'm forced to use my rescue inhaler. The problem is this has been an almost daily occurence and I hate taking ventolin that regularly.
Avatar f tn I suddenly had developed wheezing and coughing after exposure to some toxic paint plus for a couple of years when I climb stairs I am short of breath. He said to take meds for a month at one dose and for another month at a half dose and to thereafter see another pulmonologist. He prescribed three meds, one ('Nasonex') that was already taking based on an ENT's recommendation. I am able to find that one easily in many countries where I travel.
Avatar n tn For example, if you have asthma and a daily low to medium dose inhaled corticosteroid controls your symptoms, you should use that instead of a combination inhaler with a medium dose inhaled corticosteroid and a long acting bronchodilator. The combination inhaler has more medicine, and all that medicine is unnecessary if your asthma is controlled with a low to medium dose inhaled corticosteroid by itself. Your doctor has decided that Combivent is appropriate for your condition at this time.
Avatar n tn I am using advair for my asthma and it seems to help with those symptoms and I also have a rescue inhaler Flovent. But i do clean my advair diskus before and after each use. I dont have any infections in my mouth or lung i just have the white mucus and it has only been happening for two months and I have been using the advair about a year now. I heard from someone that the white mucus could be from allergies...is that true?
Avatar n tn You could then reduce the dose of the beta agonist but, unfortunately that could not be done with a metered dose inhaler; would require the use of a nebulizer. You should also discuss this with your doctor. I mentioned individual sensitivity to the beta-agonist class of drugs.
Avatar n tn When I lived in Calif. my asthma went away. I moved to N. Fla. and in 4 years it has gotten severly worse. Is there anyplace to move where it is not densely populated, where the medicine is up to date and it does not cost an arm & a leg to live there. Austin is out of the question as is going back to California. Would living close to the ocean help?

Avatar f tn There are many philosophies, but one protocol suggests albuterol should be used first and ipratropium five minutes later. Try the foradil (formoterol fumarate inhalation power). It too is expensive, but the company provides free samples.
5894884 tn?1386969571 Where is your inhaler? My asthma seems to get worse with pregnancy, but your inhaler should be working, if not tell your ob. She should prescribe you another one. In the mean time, if you are struggling to breathe, go to the er and get a treatment asap!
Avatar f tn Damage to the spine is a common side-effect of long-term steroidal use. That is why asthma treatment nowadays uses low-dose inhaled steroids, rather than oral steroids, which are systemic. Opiates don't work too well for spinal pain because the problem is glial cell stimulation which don't have opiate receptors. You need to get a consult with a pain specialist. Ask them about using transdermal lidocaine patches or an electrical TENS device.
Avatar n tn You and he/she will have to resort to other preparations, to include a different inhaled steroid, such as Flovent® HFA Inhalation Aerosol (fluticasone propionate), either alone or in combination with a long-acting bronchodilator, like Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate) or Foradil® Aerolizer™ (formoterol fumarate inhalation powder), such a combination being either Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Aerosol or Symbicort® (budesonide/formoterol fumarat
Avatar m tn Several aspects should be considered while selecting an inhaler for asthma, such as the severity of your ailment, your age, personal preference, and any other health issues you could have. One possible solution for moderate asthma is to use a short-acting beta-agonist (SABA) inhaler, which may provide rapid relief from symptoms.

Avatar f tn I take symbiotic... Higher dose of steroids.. twice a day an a rescue inhaler. I have been dealing with it from the beginning and have had problems with all 3 pregnancys. The Dr's hate having me on it but I can't go without it.
Avatar n tn Thanks so much, so my nursling's dose is really negligible?
Avatar m tn Could you suggest me any metered dose inhaler drug/product applicable in cardiology?
746512 tn?1388807580 I have only had the inhaler for about 2 weeks and notice very painful calf muscle cramps that occur a couple hours after taking the inhaler (suppose to pre-treat for a lecture hall that really bugs me). They seem to be getting worse with every dose (only noticed the last couple of times of using it), today my legs are still very sore and crampy and I took the dose 10 hours ago. It seems to start about 2 hours after I take the albuterol (100mcg, 2 puffs).
Avatar m tn It would be best to consult your doctor regarding persisting symptoms, he may prescribe additional inhalers or he may change the dose of the steroid inhaler. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn We have paid privately to see a dermatologist who diagnosed eczema, but none of his prescribed creams are helping either. We have tried stopping the steroid inhaler and trying Bricanyl instead of Sabutamol, but no difference. When it flares up it makes him really agitated which in turn affects his breathing and heart rate. His oxygen levels can drop to as low as 84% & pulse fluctuating between 65 - 115 beats per minute. He then has to get on the oxygen continuously.
