Common Questions and Answers about Foot pain tendons

Avatar f tn My friend snapped both perineal tendons in his right foot in June. Unfotunately when they went in to repair they were only able to re-attach one. He has gone through months of physical therapy and still has pain and difficulty with that ankle. Now his left foot seems to be showing the extra stress. He has pain on and off in that foot/ankle and the little toe seems to be turning outward. He has to go for a functional capacity test next week (work injury-workers comp). Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn Is it normal to feel pain in nerves and tendons on the other foot that hadn't been broke, due maybe to pressure?

Avatar n tn Hi ksgirl22, how are you doing? How is your foot pain? Is it a doctor who had asked you to get MRI foot and have you been followed up? "A ganglion is a swelling that is filled with thick jelly like material. They usually occur on the back of the wrist but they do occur near other joints or near tendons (like in your case where it is in your foot). They usually occur in young adults. It is not known why they occur". For more details refer: http://www.surgerydoor.co.uk/so/detail2.asp?
Avatar m tn I have had a good amount of tendon pain mostly in left achilles and in tendons on top and bottom of arch of foot as well as some heel and knee pain. Again, like I said primarily left side. The achilles pain has subsided some, most of the pain and discomfort now is in the foot. I have taken quinolones a few times in the past (Cipro) with either no pain or some pain that subsided quickly at or shortly after end of course (same with left leg/foot, I think).
Avatar n tn Her foot is only more swollen now and more pain. Can anyone tell me if they have experienced this and what I can do to help.
Avatar m tn About 3 hrs later my ankle had swollen to double the size with the ankle tendons becoming very tight. The swelling has now recindered but the tendons in my ankle are very sore and I struggle to put weight on it. It's as if I have damaged the tendons in a sports injury but I haven't. As anyone got any suggestions what the cause and cure could be. Thanks.
Avatar n tn ) A few days after the specialists office i started getting this pain in my foot again. This time it started right where my foot and ankle meet about an inch in from outer ankle bone. Sometimes when i get up to walk on it, it's a very sharp pain that radiates through the rest of my foot, sometimes even into my calf.
Avatar f tn I haven’t had foot reconstructive surgery but I’ve had multiple back injuries/surgeries that have resulted in nerve pain down my entire leg and into my foot. I am sure t will help you stretch your ligaments/tendons. Keep elevating your leg when your foot becomes swollen. I hope you see a lot of improvement once you’ve had PT for a while.
Avatar n tn I am wondering how long will I be like this? Before the foot dropped Ihad a pain that ran from my knee to my ankle I didnt get much sleep during the night because of the pain. I was working extremely hard and for nearly 12 hours a day most days.
Avatar n tn Hi, and welcome. Foot pain is NO fun. I have ms and other diseases and one of my newer problems is foot drop. It's been coming and getting worse over time, but is now so bad it has to be braced. My Achilles tendon is shortened due to a weak muscle in my leg preventing me from being able to lift my foot. Anyway, being in the "terminator boot" would cause severe stiffness and immobility for long enough that you may suffer from Achilles tendon shortening too.
Avatar f tn No rads of my foot and no MRI or CT. My pain level is ok, but after a long day of working on my feet it can become pretty unbearable. Do I need to seek further help with an orthopedist? Is it possible I ruptured ligaments and/or tendons that have not healed? If so, would this now be a surgical case? Please help!
579469 tn?1311705550 Plus yesterday I was diagnosed with some foot problems, including a fracture in my left foot. Now my foot is all bandaged up and I have to hobble around house. (The fun never stops.) For those of you still trying to manage pain relief w/o opiates, what works for you now? Thanks.
Avatar m tn m keeping my foot angled. I am also starting to develop pain in the bottom of my foot behind the toe joints. I called last Friday to request an appt with a specialist but due to the holiday they were closed, and their message also states that referrals take 72 hours to happen. I'm sure it will eventually but this is getting to be a real problem as I've already missed out on a few activities that I had planned (football game, etc) because I just can't be on my feet that long..
1294547 tn?1275655777 I am in limbo as far as a diagnosis and i was wondering if what I am feeling sounds like foot drop or a stage of foot drop? Sometimes it effects the way I walk but the pain and stiffness subside eventually if i walk around long enough. The pain is worse in the evening and last for longer periods of time. I have read posts by others about foot pain but i have not come across the same "swollen' feeling being posted by anyone else.
Avatar m tn yes... the tendons...but not likely the nerves.
Avatar m tn Other health issues like thyroid disease can also bring on foot, leg, and hand pain - I also have this. Custom foot Orthodics also help but not alone- the good ones start at $200 a pair. The flimsy $10 ones offer no support.
Avatar m tn Jones fracture is a fracture at the base of the 5th metatarsal caused by pull exerted by some tendons such as peroneus brevis muscle. There is pain, tenderness and swelling at the outer border of the foot, most marked at the site of 5th metatarsal. Diagnosis is easy by an X-ray. Treatment is by below knee walking plaster cast for 3 weeks. Take care!
Avatar n tn The paddle crushed my foot right behind the ball of my foot and then folded and streched my foot down and into the shaft. I watched my foot and ankle stretch out unbeliveably far. I managed to get out after it tore my boot in half. I had amazingly had not broken bones and no torn tendons. The doctor said I shredded the "sleeves" around the tendons. I also had pretty bad laceration across the top of my foot that took 2.5 months to close and I am at 3.5 months now.
Avatar n tn Two days ago I fell down my stairs. The top of my foot and both sides of my ankle are swollen and bruised. Yesterday I needed crutches to get around. Today I can limp around, however, it still hurts like crazy. I don't have any medical insurance. How can I tell if it's broken or sprained. I don't have or want to spend the money to see a doctor only to get sent home with a sprained foot/ankle. Please help. I have a 2 yr old that doesnt sit down for anything. I need this to go away.
Avatar n tn I have a discoloration to the skin on top of my feet. I tore tendons in my ankles more than 2 years ago. Now my feet are colored green right below my ankle joint. What would cause this?
Avatar n tn My ankle is still swollen because my tendons have to finish healing and I have to get use to walking with my foot in the right position. Today I noticed when I push on the swollen part of my foot, it leaves an indent for about 10 seconds and goes away. Can tou please help me?
Avatar m tn It also may be that something as simple as orthopedic arches which you wear in your shoes could solve your problem. Since I think that this is more than just a "foot" problem, I would go see an orthopedic doctor. A foot doctor could tell you if arch supports are needed.
Avatar f tn i was playing catch with my niece and accidently kicked a pole. it didnt hurt much and the pain was bearable at first and i can pretty much walk, limping of course. but now the swollen gets bigger (normal color, it didnt get purple-ish) and it really hurts just to walk. i can wiggle my toes a liltle bit but not as much as the other foot. should i go to the clinic to get it check?
280234 tn?1532986249 Hi, I'm a 29 year old female who found a small lump on the outside of my right foot about an inch under my ankle a few months ago. The lump is about 1 cm in size. The lump is kinda boney, and seems to transilluminate with a flashlight. Following your advice from a previous post, I recently seen a local orthopedic surgeon about it. In my medical records the doctor's diagnosis states: "No problems with the peroneal tendons seen.
