Common Questions and Answers about Foot pain near heel

foot

Avatar n tn The pain is on the bottom of my foot at the heel just near the arch in the daytime and at night at the back of the heel when I am laying on my back. I bought some walking shoes for plantars fasciitis and they have running shoes at orthofeet.com. You need to stretch your achilles tendon basically too. It could potentially be a heel spur but they have to Xray it to confirm that. hope this helps. Also, putting gel heels from Dr. scholes (spelling?
Avatar n tn I have major swelling and pain (it's like a huge bruise) in right foot in the back of heel; very low and to the outside. Not near the Achilles Tendon. I am developing the same thing in the left foot (same location). Right "bruise" is so swollen the skin split and it weeps a clear fluid. Regular physician was stumped. Visited a podiatrist who had no idea what was wrong. Xrays taken, no heel spur, no foreign object, nothing. Have been surfing looking for an answer.
Avatar n tn 7 mONTHS AGO I went to a podiatrist for tingling and pain in the bootm of left foot. He gave me Orthetics to wear, and exercises to do after Xray showed that I had a very inflamed tendon on bottom of foot. I also have very high arches. Now, I have began to feel some pulling and pain on right foot. Could this be from wearing the orthetics. In March he said I may need to have the presciption orthectics. I may have pulled something in the bottom of my foot.

Avatar f tn I have a pain in my heel that only happens if I bend over with my knees straight. I also feel it if I flex my foot up. It feels like somthing is being torn and that I am being stabbed with something sharp. It doesn't hurt if I bend my knee before I bend over.
Avatar f tn The past month I've been experiencing minor to extreme heel pain in my feet. I was wondering if anyone has a good shoe insert they use for their heels? Preferably one that can be reused in different shoes. I've tried a few different brands, but no luck. My doc @ my last appt said it's because you walk differently when you're pregnant, but that seems like an easy/lazy answer to me lol! I'm only 19 weeks, I can't imagine what it'll be like when I'm further along!
Avatar f tn Over the past few weeks I've been experiencing a lot of pain in my left heel. I have back issues due to which I've had to spend a lot of time on my feet and that's probably triggered something. Are there special shoes I can wear to prevent further foot fatigue or use special inserts to make it better? Thanks for your help!
Avatar n tn I have plantar fasciitis and it came on all of a sudden in pretty much the same area you described, left side of heel of right foot. It is now on my left heel, in right side of heel. Have you been on your feet more recently? Increased your exercise? Mine came on after increasing exercise. Currently, I am stretching it at least once per day, doing some strengthening exercises 2-3 times per week. I also apply ice 1 time per day for about 15 minutes when I need to.
Avatar n tn After sitting or lying down, even driving a car for a period of time, my feel get extremely painful, especially in the area between the ball of the foot and the heel. the heel never gets sore. It takes up to 2 hours of walking about before the pain subsides, but it returns as soon as I sit again. The pain almist feels as if someone has taken a knife and shredded the bottom of my feet. It is the same in both feet.

Avatar f tn It only hurts when I press on that part of my foot or when I am walking. The walking pain happens when I lift up my heel taking a step. The pain radiates from the top of the arch of my foot to the heel. The pain was minimal at the beginning of the day, then got worse as the day went on. I taped my foot after a few days of this and am using a walker and crutches I already had to keep weight off of it as much as possible.
Avatar f tn my right foot between top of heel and bottom of arch has been hurting so badly for about 3 months. any ideas? read in a reflexology book could be bladder issues? also heard could be plantar fasciitis?
973741 tn?1342342773 So, work out friends, I have a problem. One heel has a lot of pain. It's been ongoing since early July. I had gone to my son's boy scout camp and wore tennis shoes. I think I walked about 10 miles through gravel, wood trails, up and down hills and steps. My little piggies were swollen and tired after that! But worse, my left heel hurt like crazy. And . . .it still hurts. I've had plantar faciaitis before.
459853 tn?1283140514 When I flex my food you can see the ligament protruding from my foot. It runs from the ball of the foot all the way to my heel. I have found several exercises that seem to be helping but they are really painful! Just walking is painful.....
Avatar f tn Hey Dee, Thanks a lot for replying, and no worries I'm young I will live :P I have had my blood checked about 3 times and they say its perfect, I have iron in my blood and everything. I don't know exactly what thorn in the foot means, my mother says its a sharp pain in the heel that feels like a thorn. So I guess thats what it is. Its when I walk a lot then a pain comes in my heel and I can't walk after too long. I'll take your advice and see another doctor..
Avatar n tn The pain is a hot pain that goes from the side of my heel up about 3 inches toward my achilies tendon.
Avatar f tn either directly caused by MS or if your gate is abnormal your MS could of indirectly caused a heel injury and on the other hand, heel pain is a common problem within the general population, so it could feasibly have absolutely nothing at all to do with your MS. This lists common causes of heel pain, it isn't the best but it is very easy to understand and worth reading to give you some idea of what it might be.... http://www.drugs.com/health-guide/heel-pain.
Avatar f tn My foot actually hurts more toward the outside and where the heel starts. The heel itself is not really painful. Also, my foot feels like it is going to get a cramp in more now. Is the knot any cause for concern? Thanks for your advice.
Avatar f tn There could be some important causes like Plantar fasciitis which is inflammation of the thick connective tissue on the sole of your foot that attaches to your heel. The pain is usually felt at the bottom of your heel and is often worse in the morning because of stiffness that occurs overnight. Bone spurs can also accompany plantar fasciitis or it can be Heel bursitis (inflammation of the back of the heel) as a result of landing hard or awkwardly on the heel, or by pressure from shoes.
454422 tn?1211415825 Hello all, I have had a painful heel spur on right foot for several months, tried heel cups, inserts, new shoes, napoxsyn, stretching and all have failed. I had several injections today and my heel was numb for several hours after, I am now having the most difficult time walking and the pain is more severe than it has been. I had this problem on left foot several years ago and ended up having fasciotomy (sp?) and have been pain free since. Any advice or suggestions on this newest heel spur.
Avatar n tn One of the most common causes of heel pain is called plantar fascitis. The plantar fascia is the tissue in the sole/mid foot among the tendons. Plantar fascitis is inflammation of this tissue. The pain typically occurs in the inner side of the heel. The pain typically occurs after taking the first few steps in the morning and improves with continued walking. The pain may radiate up the leg.
Avatar f tn A sharp pain on the outside of the foot just below the ankle bone, on either the left side of the left foot or the right side of the right foot. I notice that one person in this thread talked about pain on the inside of their foot, but this topic does NOT address that area of the foot. Please keep this discussion to the correct area of the foot. I too have had this pain. It started about 6 months ago while I was sitting in a meeting.
