Foot pain great toe

Common Questions and Answers about Foot pain great toe

foot

Avatar f tn I had the hemicap surgery on my left foot great toe. My intent was to have surgery on both great toes but after nearly two years post op on the left foot I am sorry I had this surgery. My range of motion is less than before the surgery and at time it is more painful to walk than before the surgery. I feel I was mislead about what this implant would do for both my pain and range of motion. I would never recommend this surgery to my worst enemy.
Avatar f tn I have chronic radiculopathy pain in my great toe. I have foot drop same side following spontaneous bone fragmentation L4-5. I had emergency back surgery 30 hours after onset of foot drop but did not help. This was one year ago. Now I have foot drop, chronic back pain & electrical type sensation/radiculopathy in great toe. I have tried epidural steroids, acupuncture, & Gabapentin. Does anyone else have any ideas to manage toe pain besides narcotic?
Avatar f tn Hello. Thanks for your reply. What worries me about the pain near the base of my little toe is the fact that it is the same pain I had before the mn surgery. I'm afraid that the surgery wasn't where it should've been? The base of the great toe really doesn't cause me much trouble anymore. I have the pain in the arch of my foot kind of like a cramp most all the time. The dr. thought the screw was causing it because it had been moving. I thought so too but now I'm not so sure.
Avatar f tn I have seen pics online of bunions and I do have a boney prominence sticking out from the base of my great toe, but I always have had that, only maybe a bit worse now, as my great toe is turning toward my littler toes....I suppose this could also be rhematoid arthritis. The pain is not only on that boney area but on the top and it throbs very painfully. Thank you both for your input. It would be helpful if you could see my foot I think....maybe I should take a pic of it haha....
1558461 tn?1295392601 Can cronic Arthritis in a big toe, cause the metatarsal and heel pain to worsen?
Avatar f tn My left big toe gives a shooting pain with the toe-off movement. It has been feeling this way since June of 2010 and there was no trauma that I know of, but I did wear a pair of shoes that was tight over the metatarsal-phalangeal joint. I have tried stretches, tucking the big toe under and pressing my big toe down lifting my heel with some relief.
Avatar f tn sorry, I forgot to mention it's my toe specifically that twitches- on my left foot, the third one to the right of my big toe.
479581 tn?1317757488 Getting a bone graft to increase length of the 1st metatarsal would be beneficial and allow you to continue bending the great toe joint. You have 33 joints in you foot and 25% of your weight pushes through that big toe joint. If the procedure is done correctly, you should have most of your pain resolved with this procedure. A graft taken from the calcaneus or pelvis bone increases the chance of the graft to take.
Avatar f tn For the past three or four years I have had severe pain in my toes when bearing weight on my foot. When sitting down there is no pain but when I stand and start walking the pain is extreme when bearing weight on the foot. Examination by a phisio, orthopedic surgeon and podiatrist have not been able to help. I have been prescibed various drugs including baclofen and pregabalin but still no joy. Anyone have a similar experience and information would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn Is it in the actual toe or at the base of the toe near the foot? If it is at the base of the toe near the foot it could be Morton's neuroma, which can be removed surgically by a podiatrist.
Avatar m tn I am having all sorts of pain in my foot and leg and can't seem to get a diagnosis. So far, I've seen two podiatrists, neurologst, PCP, and will see an orthopedic surgeon in about a month. Last year I rolled over my big toe with a pallet jack that had a pallet on it at an old job. Well at the time it didn't break my foot or cause any bruising or any type of problem that required medical attention so I let it go.
Avatar n tn He is not the podiatrist that did my first surgery and said that the first surgery was somehow not done correctly and that now he would have to go in and do three incisions(one on the big toe, the 2nd toe and the 3rd toe. He said recovery time would be about 8 weeks and I would have to wear a boot that comes up to my knee. I do not know if I should consider having a second surgery? Has anyone else ever had a second surgery to correct a previous bunion surgery? If so, what were the results?
345079 tn?1299202476 The second toe is now not only lifted up high but has curved over and now lies atop my middle toe. I have pain in the toe, underneath and on both sides as well as the middle toe from the second toe lying on top of it. My surgeon was refusing to see me as he said he did all he could and didnt even care to see what has happened. I finally got an appt to see him for tomorrow. But I need to go in there with some knowledge that this all isnt normal.
Avatar f tn Two yrs ago March 2008 I had a Weil osteotomy at a state hospital. Unfortunately, there was a complication in that I got infection and the 11 mm screw was removed. Nearly two years later, I am not able to walk properly or much without pain in that there is a callus under the foot in the I think "third metatarsal" area. The operation was on the 2nd toe, the toe next to my big toe. It was a small hammer toe.
20577991 tn?1501111823 The PMJ of the second toe also has limited ROM but minimal pain with manual manipulation. The great toe distal and middle phalanx joint can be manually moved without pain but I can not move that joint myself. I am curious of others opinions, Also, perhaps someone could explain what tendons/ligaments I may have injured that curl the most distal joint of the great toe. The MPJ of the second toe is where the majority of my pain is. Will it simply resolve over time?
Avatar f tn Interesting question because I had a toe nail (middle toe, left foot) fall off without any pain or discomfort. It was a strange thing - I took off my sock and the nail fell off. No explanation - but I haven't seen my doctor since it happened.
Avatar f tn Ok this sounds weird but under my big toe and second toe under the the skin of the ball of the foot it feels like there is fluid there. No pain, no swelling but it feels like a blister under the skin. Any ideas as to what it is. Was in a accident about 3 weeks ago, was rear ended nor major injuries just some spazzing muscles in neck and back. But this problem hasn't gone away yet.
1467506 tn?1286413017 I had surgery on my foot 2 months ago to remove a bone spur on the top of my foot. I also had a toe (second toe, next to great toe) that was affected by separate pain and had completely turned crooked. The top of my foot - where the spur was removed is still very sore and painful if I wear shoes that tie or walk for any distance. The entire foot feels cramped as well. The toe issue is unchanged - still the same pain as before bone spur surgery.
Avatar m tn I have had these eruptions noticeable for the past 7-8 months on the plantar surface of my great toe. They were initially 2 in number (the bigger ones in the picture) and were embedded inside a few layers of skin, but were palpable and firm in consistency. Now they have ruptured(sort of) and have burst out from the layers underneath.
Avatar f tn t work). Still have the foot pain and now the shooting pain in my left toe is back. It feels like someone is putting a taser to just that toe. It doesn't happen regularly and have know idea what precipitates it, usually happens at night and wakes me up like a jolt of electricity. Lasts about a minute and rubbing it makes it worse.
Avatar f tn The podiatrist said he removed a nerve during surgery and consequently I have loss of feeling in the ball of my foot going up to my big toe (entire toe) and half of my second toe. The loss of feeling is partial, and the area of the incision scar is hyper-sensitive. Bottom line- bad result I have subsequently changed care to an ortho doctor specializing in the foot.
Avatar f tn I woke up about 5am this morning with a sharp pain in my toe next to the pinky toes . The pain is so severe i screamed out in pain. About 2 weeks ago i did purchase new running shoes but i havent tested them out at the gym yet. Ive been wearing them everyday at work though. The pain occurs every 5 mins and just as painful as the first time. My foot seems normal no swelling or discoloration. Please help.
