The question is isn't there any thing out there besides narcotics like nerve block or something like that. He can not take pain medicine at his work due to he drives a big trash truck for a living. Will please somebody point us in the right direction.
470872 tn?1207414069 Can Osteoporosis cause severe foot pain? I am finding that both my feet are very painful to walk on and have swelling in the mid foot area. I also have pain in the ankles. I have had an MRI scan a few weeks ago but have to wait until the end of August for my results appointment with the Orthopaedic Consultant. An untrasound did not show any sign of damage to the plantar fascia.

Avatar f tn A sharp pain on the outside of the foot just below the ankle bone, on either the left side of the left foot or the right side of the right foot. I notice that one person in this thread talked about pain on the inside of their foot, but this topic does NOT address that area of the foot. Please keep this discussion to the correct area of the foot. I too have had this pain. It started about 6 months ago while I was sitting in a meeting.

Avatar n tn good morning Kenny, i've had several severe sprains over the years and when i finally went to a poditrist (spelling?) had a MRI along with x-rays the doctor saw my ankle is mostly bone on bone now. i go every couple of years or when the pain get to be to much and have my ankle scoped and cleaned out. my doctor tells me i'm on borrowed time before an ankle joint fusion will be needed, it was his idea to come back every couple years or earlier which has helped.
Avatar f tn Peekawho is right..you probably need a dose pack of steroids..I had the same problem after my discectomy..they put me on a dose pack, and after the first pill, the pain in my butt and down my leg went away..hang in there..my surgeon explained it this way..."the reason you are experiencing that pain, is because the nerve that has been pressed on by the disc for so long, is extremely "pissed off" and needs time to cool down..
Avatar f tn I sometimes have problems walking still my ankle feels like it doesnt want to work and then I get a sharp pain in it and I have to stop and relax my foot. I need to know does this sound like I could have some nerve damage to my foot? Please help me!
Avatar f tn My right foot was fractured in December 2002 (during European winter) but the doctor who attended to me at the time said there was no fracture. I had pain every day and my foot was really swollen. Then in 2005 I went to a different doctor and explained my problem. He immediately sent me for X-rays which confirmed his suspicion that the foot was broken. I had surgery in 2005 and stayed with pins or metal to rejoin the 2 bones together.
Avatar f tn I had such severe foot pain that I had problems walking for a while. It felt like I was walking on rocks. It turns out that my feet were just spastic in the bottoms - one was the arch of the foot, and the other was the outside. Hubby pounded on them for me, which helped a lot, but really it just took time for the problem to go away. About four weeks, I think, although it felt longer.
Avatar f tn I have had nothing but pain since I started taking it...The top of my foot has pain constantly and both thumbs in the fatty part toward my wrist. Now I have shoulder pain radiating down my arm and can hardly sleep at night. Tylonol doesn't touch it... Is it due to my thyroid? What is going on....my doctor seems unconcerned. says my foot was tendiitious....My fingers also hurt and thought that to be artritius but maybe not.

Avatar f tn Lately, I have been having awful burning pain in my legs (especially the left leg) which generates from the hip to the knee and sometimes the foot. The pain is usually on the outside of the leg. However, sometimes it is on the inside. I often wake up at night with the pain. I also get the pain if I stand in one place for 45 minutes or longer; and, then when I sit down the buring goes all through my body. Is it possible this pain is caused from the degenerating disks? Who should I see?

Avatar f tn I also started having extreme foot pain 2 years ago, cannot exercise like I have always done. The pain in my hips in legs while trying to sleep at night has been horrible. All I take is ibubrofren and a half of Percocet when I am desperate. I don't want to get addicted to pain medication. Is there a pain med. that helps but is a lot less non addictive?
Avatar f tn Hello, I was wondering if someone could give me a straight breakdown of tramadol withdrawal. I want to get some basic information that is relevant to most everyone and not specific to a personal situation. I have been a vicodin addict for many years on and off and have now been taking tramadol 400mg daily for about 4 months with an occasional bought of a week or so of 50-80 mgs of vicodin daily.
5135507 tn?1367163227 worse than ever, from buttock to foot....numbness below left knee and left side of left foot. Some burning starting in right foot....neurontin helps it, but does nothing for left side. Surgery consult consited of him telling me rods n screws would make me feel worse. Taking scar tissue off left sciatic nerve could result in paralysis. Morphine pump was his suggestion but I'm not doing that. Going for 2nd opinion. What are your thoughts? ?
Avatar f tn So the other day I was laying on the couch and my left ankle has been throbbing so I put my hand down to massage it and when I touched a certain spot on my ankle and get this shooting pain up the outside of my leg. It was excruciating, but only lasted a minute or so. Yesterday morning I was shaving my legs and when I shaved that same "sweet spot" I had the same phenomenon. I experienced it again this evening when I was scratching my left ankle with my right foot.
277836 tn?1359666174 He stumbled to the door and found a six-foot cockroach standing there. The bug grabbed him by the collar and threw him across the room, and left. The next night, after he finished his 3th beer, the doorbell rang. He walked slowly to the door and found the same six-foot cockroach standing there. The big bug punched him in the stomach, then left. The next night, after he finished his 1st beer, the doorbell rang again. The same six-foot cockroach was standing there.
108334 tn?1253644395 There are a lot of little bones in the foot. I had a hair line fracture of the foot that healed on its own. Some are more serious. But they'd have been looking for that. Is he swollen? You'd think sprain too but you'd notice swelling. I'd say he just hurt it and it isn't back to normal yet. Give it another day and if you are seeing no improvement, then call the doc. Also, side note. These are those teachable moments.
Avatar f tn At this point grab ahold of their ankle with both hands. Have them slowly lower that foot back to the ground and if I explained it right, it should be stretching your back. Hold that position for several seconds, even up to a minute or more if needed. If it does not give you a stretch have the person lift up their foot again like they are standing on their tip toes, back up a few inches and try again. I hope I explained it well enough and I hope it helps even a little. Good luck!!
1637739 tn?1371688706 I was recently diagnosed with MS after years of going to my neuro and complaining of numbness and tingling on my left side that eventually turned out to be pain on the left side. My foot pain extends out into the toes and is quite severe. Walking on it is always more difficult when I first stand up. My doctor has me on Gabapentin for pain (and Copaxone shots) and it does a pretty good job for me. I am so sorry you are experiencing this but you are not alone.
