Common Questions and Answers about Foot injuries from walking

foot

Avatar m tn There is pain, tenderness and swelling at the outer border of the foot, most marked at the site of 5th metatarsal. Diagnosis is easy by an X-ray. Treatment is by below knee walking plaster cast for 3 weeks. Take care!
Avatar f tn I got a tetanus shot and the doctor looked over my leg and foot and no suspected serious injury. However, my inner ankle ( where that bone sticks out and the large vein run down to the foot) started to hurt and it bruised and seems like it is not really getting better as I'd like. Is that normal being that I am very active and walking around - has anyone experience very slow recovery?
Avatar n tn I do have weaker side that I get injuries on especially from things like days where I have excessive walking in the wrong shoes (ya, for me, shoes make a HUGE difference) or I exercise hard (which is at all right now as I'm out of shape) or just my clumsiness (popped my hip/glute muscle awhile back walking in my back yard and got foot in hole in grass, sigh). Nothing like that has happened? I remedy lots of that with stretching, icy hot and rest. Plantar fasciitis also comes to mind.
Avatar m tn m sure this all started with elliptical machine, as I had been walking more and stretching from elliptical just aggravated PF. I may try some exercises for arches, like towel crunch. Hopefully, I can alleviate pain by rehab exercises, as I don't think I need to see Dr. yet. I work out, riding bike, swimming, walking, some light weights, so don't put a whole lot of strain on foot. I have had this in the past and alleviated by just stopping activity.
Avatar n tn Dear Doctor, Around 3 months ago, I twisted my left ankle playing soccer and slowly had trouble walking. It was very painful. I went to ER and was told that I have an ankle sprain. I have had this pain on-going with walking for a month and went to a doctor who told me that I should walk since I have a minor ligamentous injury. I have walked on it but the pain would go worse and worse. I have my doctor and the new one told me that I might have a crack on the talus.
Avatar f tn re walking any distance at all you want stability of some kind. As I say, barefoot is more stable, as your foot is made for walking. Warming up first might help. Potassium is only one electrolyte -- magnesium problems can cause cramping as well. What I would say is, if you're 18, is this truly the only exercise you get? I'm in my sixties and I walk a couple of hours at a brisk pace. Exercise needs to be enough to do something.
Avatar n tn He said that was probably something I was born with. He said he did not know what was wrong with my foot and sent me to see a foot and ankle specialist. They ordered an ultrasound to rule out blood clots and there were not any. Now the foot and ankle specialist does not know what is wrong with my foot. I am not able to walk much on my foot and I can not put my toes to the floor. When I do walk on it, I have to walk on the side of my foot because the pain is so bad.
Avatar f tn Hi. I have a broken sesamoid in my right foot. It was caused by a kickboxing accident about 14 months ago (summer 2019). The initial x-ray I had didn't pick up the fracture and it was diagnosed by a recent MRI (October 2020). I'm currently wearing a walking fracture boot and have been told to wear it for 6 weeks. I've been wearing it for a week, but still get pain and clicking in the big toe joint.
Avatar m tn I also have crush injuries with multiple fractures (whtever that means) in the left foot and some crush injury to the right foot. I have nerve damage in both feet. I sympathize with your frustration! I keep asking when I can walk again and what else can be done. I was told my pain could last for a couple years and mother nature is the only healing treatment available. Nothing else can be done. I am scared that I may never be able to work construction again with out severe pain.
Avatar f tn Problem is mild, reason of the problem is not so serious. The pain is the symptom you perceive and it is due to the packing of many muscles and tendons on the foot and also the blood vessels and nerves which supply it. You bear the weight of your whole body on the foot so pain is perceived more with ankle injuries. Take care!
1831849 tn?1383228392 Not exactly sure its foot drop, thats commonly described as literally the foot dropping so they are kicking the ground and need to lift their foot higher. With my puppet walking style that I strut (lol) my left side sort of plods like its getting heavier and heavier every step I take. The right leg though, just seems to automatically lift higher than normal because i'm tripping. I bounce though so i doubt either fit 'foot drop' but the right is the closer fit.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have a pain in my right foot. It is on the top of my foot and only last a few seconds then goes away. Seems to happen most when I am relaxed or laying down. I can't recall any injuries, there is no bruising and does not hurt to touch or press. It is quite painful while it's happening and has been going on for the last 3 days. Does anyone know what this might be or how I can stop it from happening?
Avatar m tn It defiantly can not be a shin splint. This pain is just a few inches above the big toe knuckle. It's been a couple weeks with this pain in the foot. Walking barefoot in my house i feel no pain unless i press on the area then i feel a mass amount even with painkillers. If i have my cleats or runners on i feel pain all the time. I think im defiantly to young for falling arches...
Avatar f tn t had any injuries/surgery to cause what I think is drop foot but I have all the symptoms, numb/pins and needles cant lift foot up struggling to walk etc. I have been to the doctor who wasn't sure what it was so he sent me for a blood test which came back fine, so now i'm waiting for a scan. I am honestly so so scared. I can cope with the non cardio at the gym.
649256 tn?1224017955 Surgery may be an option to correct or alleviate the underlying problem causing drop foot. For example, if drop foot is caused by nerve compression from a lumbar herniated disc, then a spinal surgical procedure called discectomy (disc removal) may be required to relieve or 'decompress' the nerve. I do not know how the severity of your diabetes Being a diabetic you already know the importance of good foot care. Your feet should be cleansed daily.
Avatar f tn Six months later I was diagnosed with fractures in both heels and have been in two casts, crutches and another walking boot. I am still in pain! I just had an MRI that shows Marrow Edema in four bones of my foot. What does this mean? I do not see the Dr. again for two weeks! I can't be on my feet for any length of time with suffering excruciating pain!
Avatar n tn I was walking up the stairs when all of the sudden my left foot couldn't hold my weight and my ankle hurt. The pain went further up the outside of my leg , half way up my knee. I hobbled up the rest of the stairs and then after a little while it went away. Then I took a step and it happened again. Then my ankle swelled... over night the swelling went down. I sprained my ankle really bad about 5 years ago, but not recently. I play soccer about once a week. Help what could this be?
Avatar n tn Whenever I lift my feet, including when I am walking, they hang down heavily and it feels like the Tibia? (I looked at a picture of ankle/foot anatomy and based on the diagram I assume it is the Tibia) and my feet are disconnected. It sort of feels like a bruising pain. I even have trouble rotating both of my feet. Not because of the pain (even though it does hurt) but it is hard to rotate to the front.
Avatar m tn Just recently she has started to not limp but have trouble shifting from foot to foot as she walks ,not real bad but noticeable .She doesn't whimper or yelp just goes about walking . My friend s father-in-law has a farm with cows and horses and has had for many years , he has asked if I know of a product called Beaut or Bute it gives the animals relief from pain. I am asking if that is a recommended product for a little dog.
Avatar n tn in the beginning i had a weak ankle anyways being that i have sprained this one about 4 times. while im walking ono my foot it keeps rolling (inverting) i was wondering if it would be a good idea to get a cast for a little wile also due to me having to stand all daydoing clinics at college for massage therapy? it is real sore and still swelled. allso doing RICE and not helping to much. should i get a cast?
Avatar m tn Exactly 2 weeks ago, I sprained my left ankle (rolled, stepped on someone's foot) during basketball. It was immediately iced and wrapped in an ankle brace. There was no bruising the next day and I could walk on it with a limp the day after that. I have been rehabbing it in the last week and I could jog and even sprint forward. However, there is some pain in lateral movement and pain at the bottom of my foot when i cut (in basketball).
65373 tn?1539097226 //physioworks.com.au/injuries-conditions-1/piriformis-syndrome I would think because you're a diagnosed MSer and or the coinciding time frame of injecting in to your buttox and when the sciatic type pain started, it's definitely possible for the Piriformis muscle to be the issue....i would suggest you consider seeing your physiotherapist for an assessment and work out the right type treatment plan to help you. Hope that helps........
1308443 tn?1302693321 t move the toe next to my pinky and whenever I put any weight on that part of my foot it hurts really bad. The top and bottom of my foot are swollen. The toe next to my pinky won't even touch the ground. I get hurt all the time and I don't want to go to the doc unless there is something wrong and that he can fix that I can't. The bruising and pain is where my toes meet my foot. There is one spot though that when weight is put on my foot it feels like something stabs my foot.
Avatar f tn I fell down a staircase two months ago and I landed badly on my ankle. After that I went to a hospital, three times, and they took a few x-rays, all of the times, and even put me in a cast. I was on crutches before and after the cast. The doctors couldn't see anything wrong and the ankle is not swollen or bruised. But it still hurts very much. And not only when walking or standing, it's just a pain that won't go away. It's like it's in the bone or the nerves.
