Avatar m tn I've been having constant foot cramps. Podiatrist recommended some stretches and stuff, but also suggested a thyroid test. FT3 is 3.22 (2.57-4.43) FT4 is 1.17 (0.64-1.77) TSH is 4.24 (0.27-4.2) Anti-Tg is 41.14 (1000 (<5.61) So the TSH is just a hair too high, but the anti-TPO is off the chart. Is there a thyroid problem or not? What does this mean? I've got an appointment with an endocrinologist, but I just want to get ahead of the game.
Avatar f tn Rest cramps: Cramps at rest are very common, especially in older adults, but may be experienced at any age, including childhood. Rest cramps often occur during the night. While not life-threatening, night cramps (commonly known as nocturnal cramps) can be painful, disruptive of sleep, and they can recur frequently (that is, many times a night, and/or many nights each week). The actual cause of night cramps is unknown.
89559 tn?1234880265 m now 4 1/2 years post thyroidectomy and have been suffering on and off with severe back, leg, and foot cramps. Had my blood drawn the past couple of years and my intact pth has come back 11, 7 and this last time 4. Calcium is 9.8 and just recently had an ionized calcium done two weeks ago and assuming that it is normal because I haven't heard anything. My Endo said that he will be sending a letter to both me and my pcp on the results. What I'm wondering is...
Avatar f tn what causes toe curling cramps? I can also feel the pulling down my leg.
Avatar m tn I will be relaxing and all of a sudden I get severe, very painful muscle spasms that bend my foot so bad it feels like my foot is going to break right in the arch and my little toe and the toe next to it usually spread out in some kind of spasm spreading out to the side and my other toes turn under. I have no idea what is happening. I have to grab my foot and really force it back to a normal position as well as my toes, which is very painful. Then it will start all over again.
Avatar f tn Causes for me are usually overexertion during the day (for me it happens mostly at night), improper stretching and dehydration. But there is a long list of what causes it. It is usually just one foot for me at a time. Sometimes it goes up further in the foot and calf. Wonder if that is what you are talking about? Good idea to ask that, Barb!
Avatar f tn i would just go...but just curious.. To..what causes it. ALOT OF PEOPLE are saying ++contractions++...(like when you are actually in labor...but that aint true. Obviously. ..gotta be braxton hicks...or something different...
Avatar n tn every once in awhile, while i am sleeping i will feel the beginning of my toes or ankle in only one foot begnning to cramp up. the pain last for about 1-2 min. and then it completely is gone with no mafter affects., What causes this.Sometimese it's 2-3 nights in a row and then nothing for months.
Avatar m tn The various causes of foot cramps or tightening or painful contraction in the middle of foot are an over exerted foot poor foot circulation, lack of potassium, dehydration, pinched nerves due to electrical impulse from brain not reaching the muscles, alcohol or tobacco use, nutritional deficiency, etc. sciatica has been the previous culprit causing pain in back and thigh and leg cramps. This could be pinched nerve in the leg or foot.
203342 tn?1328737207 I've been having cramps in my foot off and on for awhile. Last night I had a bad cramp in my calf. Usually this is at night, but not always. Like right now I have a cramp in my foot. Last night I had such a bad cramp in my leg I had to hop out of bed and hobble around for quite awhile before it finally went away. Could this be a sign of dehydration? What else could it be?

Avatar f tn Hey out there in brain-droop land! Hope everyone is having a good and low pain day! (I know I'm not, ha ha.) I was just wondering if anyone has any information (from their NS or elsewhere) about what causes the coldness in our hands and feet? It seems like it's a circulation issue to have cold extremities, not a nervous system issue. Perhaps the signals for temperature regulation can't be effectively communicated? I'm just curious how this works.
Avatar n tn There's no clear answer to what causes leg spasms at night. The cramps can occur at any age-group, but tend to occur in middle aged, and older populations. Cramps may be due to overexertion, muscle or nerve injury, prolonged immobilization, electrolyte imbalance, diabetes or even dehydration. Interestingly, pregnant women have a higher likelihood of experiencing these symptoms.
