Avatar n tn find a multivitamin that contains manganese, calcium, magnesium and potassium, as well as the regular essentials. She suggested I also take a vitamin B12 complex supplement as well (which I do). She said that vitamin E, fish oil, and evening primrose oil supplements are all aimed at relieving skin and muscle pain, neuropathy, and cramps, and would be safe to try until I found what works best for me. All are inexpensive, over-the-counter, and have lots of information surrounding them.
Avatar f tn For the past three or four years I have had severe pain in my toes when bearing weight on my foot. When sitting down there is no pain but when I stand and start walking the pain is extreme when bearing weight on the foot. Examination by a phisio, orthopedic surgeon and podiatrist have not been able to help. I have been prescibed various drugs including baclofen and pregabalin but still no joy. Anyone have a similar experience and information would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn My Mom is 73 years old and for the last 4 years her left foot has slowly had the skin to get tighter and toes gradually curl under. This has recently moved to her right foot. She is still able to walk about 1-2 miles per day, but it is getting more painful to straighten her toes out. She says it is like an electric current goes through her feet when she straightens her toes. The Dr.
Avatar f tn I have nerve damage from 2 foot surgeries and my foot doctor suggests 16 shots of novocaine twice a week for 8 weeks and that will act as a nerve block, and tell my brain I have no more pain. Have you heard of this for and if is good?
Avatar n tn Is there an herb to help with neuropathy [ foot numbness and tingling and hurts to stand or walk ] after a couple of hours especially in shoes or is only prescribed medicine the answer? I also have a pain that runs down my left leg from the butt left butt cheek down the knee to the foot. Is that a pinched nerve or also part of my issue?
Avatar m tn However, if you have uncontrolled and unmanaged diabetes and are also experiencing a tingling or burning sensation in your foot/feet, the cause could be from Peripheral Neuropathy, damage to a nerve or group of nerves. If left untreated it may lead to amputation. Go see your doctor for an examination. If necessary you may be referred to a Podiatrist and/or Neurologist for further evaluation.

Avatar f tn Your title question, if back problems can cause foot problems, yes, it can, peripheral neuropathy is the name, I've got it. And while could be that's what you have, you could in the alternative have Restless Legs Syndrome RLS, which I ALSO have! And my lower back is a wreck. A neurologist is the person to diagnose either one of those and treat it.
Avatar m tn As suggested above stretching can also help and neuropathy could also be a possibility. Neuropathy is more prevalent in ppl with diabetes and older age but that is not always true. Neuropathy is the result of damage to your peripheral nerves. It can result from traumatic injuries, infections, metabolic problems, inherited causes and exposure to toxins. Pain is usually described as stabbing or burning along with tingling or a "sleeping" sensation.
1489822 tn?1290425411 I have had peripheral neuropathy for 4 years. I take a number of pain medicines . The last couple of months my leg calves and thigh muscles are tight and seem like they are cramping . If i sit for more than a few minutes it really starts to hurt . could this be from the neuropathy ? I have not seen my neurologist in a few months , any suggestions on any treatments . It seems to be getting worse.
Avatar n tn I am not a doctor, but am a well-read type 1 diabetic, so please check out any information I give you with your own physician. I did some research on foot cramps and can tell you what I have found out. I do not know your age, but cramps in the feet while sleeping at night is apparently fairly common as people grow older. It is believed that this is sometimes caused by poor circulation in the feet, and is more common in diabetics than in other people.
Avatar n tn i have a needle like pain shooting through the sole of my foot what is causing this to happen
Avatar n tn Search for a health care equipment provider who deals with shoes for neuropathy. They would take your fittings and foot measurements. Usually fittings and measurements of every part of the foot need to be taken so that the diabetic shoes fit every contour of your foot. These are different with extra supports to protect sensitive feet. There is an insert sized according to your foot and these are water resistant.
Avatar n tn If one is diabetic and has an accident causing trauma, like blunt force, to the foot damaging nerves, is this considered diabetic neuropathy, or can it lead to diabetic neuropathy? A comprehensive foot exam to assess the skin, muscles, bones, circulation, and sensation of the feet is in order. People who cannot sense pressure from a pinprick may have lost protective sensation and are at risk for developing foot sores that may not heal properly. There are other tests the doctor can run.
Avatar n tn Is there cure? Or a way to bring it under control? The doctor ran a series of tests: doppler, blood work, nerve testing, etc. He said "Neuropathy w/ unknown diagnosis" Put me on very low dosage of Gabamtin (sic) and Hydroxyotin (sic) Then told me to get tested for diabetes in six months. My feet, especially left foot -- numb, cold painful toes, pain in the balls of both feet. It feels like it is starting to affect my hands.
Avatar f tn I woke up with a blister on my right foot - Not sure if it is diabetes related but I have gotten these on occasion. What causes them (assuming it is diabetes related)? Could it be connected to the BG spike I had yesterday? How should I treat this? I usually pop them and move on but I gather that's not the right thing... I should also confess - I was also diagnosed with an anxiety disorder so I am trying not to go overboard but I want to take good care of myself...
640719 tn?1277140030 I was just wonder if any of you have experienced Neuropathy due to your thyroid disease? I know I have experienced it intermittently numbness, pain, burning and tingling mainly in my toes for about the last 5-6 years. I have had thyroid disease for about 8 years that I know of. I'm not a diabetic. I was surprised when I discovered a article connecting this Neuropathy to the thyroid. Just wondering if anyone else can relate to this and add any info to the condition?
Avatar n tn There are many kinds and locations of Peripheral Neuropathy. If you are referring to possible nerve damage in the extremity with foot drop your symptoms should not be as extreme as a Cellulitis... although it may be just as painful. If you have Neuropathy the color and warmth of the skin will be different than in Cellulitis.... meaning not Red and inflamed and certainly not hot. There should be no fever. Your skin should not be "weeping" as it can in Cellulitis.
1091845 tn?1263162000 my one leg is much worse than the other and on this side I too have pain down into my foot...the foot will burn but not the leg/legs....with the legs its more of a tightness/muscle spasm feeling and the non stop ache... (hey I too need SPELL CHECK, you are NOT alone here either!) I have discribed my leg pain as they feel like they are encased in cement...maybe more accurate is they feel like they are CEMENT...heavy,hard to bend, and SOLID...
Avatar f tn Your carpal tunnel syndrome is most probably due to the hypothyroidism. Now, in view of this new information of the hypothyroidism, you foot pain could be neuropathy related. You can ask for a nerve conduction study. Treating the underlying condition that is the hypothyroidism is required.
Avatar n tn I am a Type 1 diabetic who has recently been suffering from leg, foot, toe, ankle, thigh, and even hand cramps so bad that I can hardly stand it. I get the foot and leg and ankle cramps usually in the middle of the night, and then can't sleep. It is almost a nightly occurance. My ankle sort of keeps cramping up, and then it spreads to my toes and calf. It is absolutely unbearable. I am wondering if ANYONE can tell me where to start to find out what is causing this.
1507079 tn?1291513583 Hi people, my question is to anyone who has thyroid problems and has ever been diagnosed with neuropathy. I was diagnosed with hyperthyroid 5 yrs ago and off and on I would get treated for it, I say off and on because I'm uninsured and can't afford testing, medications, and Dr. visits, by the way I can't afford a specialist so I go to my family Dr. who treats me when I can afford to go.
