Common Questions and Answers about Foot cramps heat

As far as I know I am not diabetic but for the past three or so years I've been getting these lower leg foot and toe cramps while I sleep. Sometimes I can do an opposite stretch while still in bed and that will make the cramp go away and other times I have to get up and walk around the bedroom. The toe cramps are the worst. My big toe will spread away from the other toes and then go back toward my shins and I have to use my hand to push it back to position.

For 3 days now I have been getting seemingly random 'hot spots' on my legs, they start as a small heat ***** feeling and 'bloom' out into a larger area of warmth. This is not painfull and there are no visible effects on my skin. I do spend a lot of time on the floor with the children , could this be some sort of allergy to the carpet? The carpet is not new and there is no external irritation to the skin. Or should I see a doctor about it?
I can only be with people socially if I take my klonopin and have a few glasses of wine -- my life is a complete mess and it all started with a little humming under my foot and an intolerance for heat. I have my own blood glucose monitor and my number is usually a fasting 94 and never has been above 116 after eating.
Go to mayo clinic and type in leg cramps. There are many different things that can cause leg cramps or it could be nothing at all. You need to be evaluated for the cause.
Does anyone have a treatment for the foot pain? I have tried heat packs. Sometimes it helps.

For the last 2 days I've had a horrible cramping in my lower left leg. So severe that it effects my knee and ankle and walking. I've tried heat, I've tried cold, I've tried Tylenol, I've tried elevating, stretching, massaging (which is painful) and everything in between. But it won't go away. I don't want to harass my doctor but I swear this pregnancy has been so much harder than my other 2! I didn't have these kinds of problems with my daughters. I just don't know what to do anymore....
Hi, I have been having some on/off heat sensation in my left foot for about a week followed with some cramp in my left leg. When I touch the foot, it feels normal, but the sensation is from inner. I am generally feeling twitches in my legs and body in general for some years now. I do have jerky in my arms but nothing noticeable to others, but just my own feeling.
My foot hurt real bad for a while then got stiff. Everytime I point my foot it cramps. If I point my big toe it locks into place with excruciating pain in my foot. It slowly comes back up like click...click...click. My big toe is pointed up. But good news is it's getting better and doesn't lock up anymore. Only took 2 years, woohoo.
Hello Dear, The cause of pain, cramps are the herniated discs. Treatment options are geared toward pain relief. Pain medications such as NSAIDs, corticosteroids orally or injected, anti-spasm drugs, anti-convulsants to help with the burning pain, and in some cases, narcotic pain relievers are given. You should go in for Physical therapy such as hydrotherapy, massage, and hot/cold therapy.
I have had the foot and hand tingling problem for 10 years. Finally I went through every possible test at two famous medical centers, and all doctors could conclude is that I had "small-fiber neuropathy" that was likely the result of a mild virus. One of the nation's leading specialists in neuropathy told me to start taking 600 mg. of the amino acid "alpha lipoic acid" in divided doses (I take 300 mg., twice a day), which I buy at GNC vitamin stores.
My calves have been very crampy, wakes me up at night, I can handle that...but since last night, my foot and toes on one foot are totally cramped and it is really bad pain. The bottom of my foot feels like it is on fire, so painful. Anyone experience this and any home remedy you can let me know about. It has been for about 12 hours or so, and it is almost unbearable. I keep waiting for it to pass, but so far it is worse. Such strange stuff going on...
I have had my share of leg and foot cramps but nothing compares to the pain caused by the inner thigh cramps. For several months I was having them twice a week. I was to the point that I feared going to bed. I tried everything but nothing worked. THEN someone told me about soaking in Epsom Salt. IT WORKS!!! I soak in a hot tub, half full of water, with 4 cups of Epsom salt, usually once a week. It has stopped the foot, calf, back of thigh, and inner thigh cramps.
I've had heat sensation in right foot and in different parts of the foot as well as my upper thigh in the last few months. Went to the Doctors today and suggested it has to with my thryoid as I take medication for hypothyroidism for last 6 years or so. Other suggestion was peripheral neuropathy and if anyone looks at symptoms of this it is sometimes similar to quite a few peoples comments on here. Hope this helps.
I am one day past IVF and am having lower menstrual cramps. Is this unusual. Did anyone else's doctor require them to have bedrest for 24 hours? Thanks for listening.
Again, I've tried heat wraps, all kinds of muscle creams, massage, extra water, potassium, aspirin, muscle relaxers.. Nothing helps. I have Fibromyalgia, but I'm 33 and I've had FM for 20 years, but I've never had these types of problems before the incident 2 years ago. Any help/suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!
after giving up processed foods I began to get truly horrible leg/foot cramps that became 24 hour constant cramp in my shins as well as constantly burning feet. Hyland's homeopathy for leg cramps helped for a while but then quit helping.
I wake up in the middle of the night with looks like a seizure from the damn pain of cramps I get them so bad my legs hurt the next day as if I worked out! What I find that helps is before bed I lay down and roll each ankle a few times I also peddle me feet back n forth like point your toe and flex as of your stepping on the gas.
This past week, I have had EXTREME and CONSTANT pain my my entire foot that shoots up to my knee. I have tried heat, cold, massaging it, exercising it, walking on it, resting it while elevated and Tylenol. Some of these remedies work part time. The heat feels good for about 15-20 minutes. I called hosp and they told me at labour and delivery to come in - to check for blood clotts. There are none thankfully. My foot and leg are a little swollen but nthing to be concerned about.
I am now 52, and my syptoms were the same until I started on Lyrica a couple of years ago. That was when the leg, foot and lower back cramps went into overdrive. As stated above by another poster, they were as intense as labor pains, usually waking me from a dead sleep, screaming and falling to the floor. However, something no one has addressed is the horrible swelling, and how the cramps cause bed-wetting, and urinary incontinence... at least they did with me.
Such people can NEVER cover their left (again in my case) hand and foot. The moment I cover my left hand and foot with a sheet or blanket, I have an immediate, intolerable floundering that forces the hand and foot out in the open, in search of colder area. I said "no" to a homeopathic doctor who asked me if I was unable to cover my limbs of one side and which side. Because I never noticed it. Within days, I noticed I would do that without fail, even in winters!
We would simply put our foot against the pool wall and gently push until the cramps was gone. Sorry you are in such misery, both physically and mentally. Is your foot warm enough? I hope you feel better!
