Avatar f tn Commonly cited conditions that lead to cramps include muscle fatigue, lack of proper stretching, dehydration and electrolyte imbalances. Less commonly, medications or an underlying medical disorder are the culprit. Exercising in a hot environment can lead to excessive sweating, which further contributes to dehydration. If you aren't getting enough electrolytes in your diet, particularly sodium, potassium and magnesium, that can also contribute to getting foot cramps.

Avatar f tn checked in routine bloodtests so I know for a fact its low) but when i start getting leg cramps bad, i eat a bunch of bananas and the cramps go away. So I would suggest you try this. PS next time you get bad leg cramps while driving- pull over somewhere safe and walk them off, dont keep trying to drive like that, especially being a new driver! Dont want you to get in an accident!

Avatar m tn I've been having constant foot cramps. Podiatrist recommended some stretches and stuff, but also suggested a thyroid test. FT3 is 3.22 (2.57-4.43) FT4 is 1.17 (0.64-1.77) TSH is 4.24 (0.27-4.2) Anti-Tg is 41.14 (1000 (<5.61) So the TSH is just a hair too high, but the anti-TPO is off the chart. Is there a thyroid problem or not? What does this mean? I've got an appointment with an endocrinologist, but I just want to get ahead of the game.
Avatar f tn I get foot and leg and even body cramps but have had them for years due to probably the diuretic I take for edema from my cirrhosis. For me actually I seem to have fewer cramps on Harvoni but still get them occasionally Best to ask your doctor if your symptoms cause concern. Make sure you are hydrating enough it can help with the headachs.
Avatar f tn He can do plantar flexion and dorsiflexion of his recovered foot. It is like pressing the foot downward and extending it upward keeping your leg straight during sitting position. He can move the foot side wards also keeping his leg straight. You have to start this only after full recovery and getting a go ahead from his orthopedician.
Avatar f tn Rest cramps: Cramps at rest are very common, especially in older adults, but may be experienced at any age, including childhood. Rest cramps often occur during the night. While not life-threatening, night cramps (commonly known as nocturnal cramps) can be painful, disruptive of sleep, and they can recur frequently (that is, many times a night, and/or many nights each week). The actual cause of night cramps is unknown.

Avatar n tn Hello all. Since he was a little kid, my teenage son has experienced leg cramps several times a month. Similar to a Charley Horse, they last for hours and really only stop when wrapped in an ACE bandage or when he takes medicine (ibeuprofin or acetamenophin). They seem to happen more frequently after exercise, but he always stretches and they still come. He drinks a lot of water as well and exercises almost every day for about an hour.
Avatar n tn I am a Type 1 diabetic who has recently been suffering from leg, foot, toe, ankle, thigh, and even hand cramps so bad that I can hardly stand it. I get the foot and leg and ankle cramps usually in the middle of the night, and then can't sleep. It is almost a nightly occurance. My ankle sort of keeps cramping up, and then it spreads to my toes and calf. It is absolutely unbearable. I am wondering if ANYONE can tell me where to start to find out what is causing this.
