Common Questions and Answers about Foot cramps during pilates

foot

Avatar n tn About 5 years ago I was diagnosed with spondylolisthesis. During this time I had struggled with painful sciatica and once on a while would feel tingling sensations on my toes on my left foot. After many months the sciatica resolved itself as did the tingling sensations. Over these years sciatica would pop up if I aggravated my lower back and the tinging of the toes would show up here and there but never constant.
Avatar f tn Rest cramps often occur during the night. While not life-threatening, night cramps (commonly known as nocturnal cramps) can be painful, disruptive of sleep, and they can recur frequently (that is, many times a night, and/or many nights each week). The actual cause of night cramps is unknown. Sometimes, such cramps are initiated by making a movement that shortens the muscle. An example is pointing the toe down while lying in bed, which shortens the calf muscle, a common site of cramps.

Avatar n tn I haven't done yoga- but did pilates, prenatal pilates and enjoyed it.
Avatar f tn Try eating a banana or two a day and drink a glass of water before bed. If it still happens lift your foot up so knee is in the air and foot is on the bed.

Avatar f tn I have had mild osteoarthritis in my right hand, of and on. Now I have knee pain, both knees, elbow pain, foot pain (orthotics (4 diff pairs) haven't helped). Avatar m tn I've been having constant foot cramps. Podiatrist recommended some stretches and stuff, but also suggested a thyroid test. FT3 is 3.22 (2.57-4.43) FT4 is 1.17 (0.64-1.77) TSH is 4.24 (0.27-4.2) Anti-Tg is 41.14 (1000 (<5.61) So the TSH is just a hair too high, but the anti-TPO is off the chart. Is there a thyroid problem or not? What does this mean? I've got an appointment with an endocrinologist, but I just want to get ahead of the game.
Avatar f tn Keep your knees directly over your ankles. Step out with your right foot. Pause. Step in with your left foot, returning your feet to hip-width. Continue for 20 steps. Repeat on the other side, leading with your left foot. You can buy the elastic bands at any sports store. Next the standing Side Leg Raises, Stand with your feet slightly wider than hip-width apart. Turn your right toes out 45 degrees and bed your right knee to 45 degrees.
Avatar n tn Hi ladies, is anyone suffering from leg/foot cramps. I'm 25 weeks pregnant and they've started coming on badly in the evenings and during the night in the last few weeks. I'm trying to drink lots of water and have a topical magnesium cream but nothing helps. So painful and causing really disturbed sleep. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn Yoga and Pilates are great! I did that and also the eliptical and leg machines 4x's a week for about 30-45 mins a day and stayed very fit during my first pregnancy. I'm doing the same with this one too. It makes for an easier pregnancy, delivery, and recovery!
Avatar f tn I am 30w 5d and I have been experiencing legs cramps and foot cramps the past month. These last 4 days my cramps have been in both legs/ feets at the sams time and last night I fell and could not get up. My husband had to left me up and help me walk it out. They last around 5-10 minutes. Does anyone else have these problems? I have increased my potassium and tried peppermint oil before bed.
Avatar f tn I want to do a little something a few days a week. Is anyone doing pregnancy exercises like special Yoga, Pilates, or just taking walks? I'm not trying to break a heavy sweat, just trying to keep good blood flow to help with muscle cramps. I have a video of 15 minute aerobics workouts (abs, ***, thighs, and arms). Would it be ok to choose one of these at a time to do few times a week?
Avatar f tn Yoga and Pilates are amazing!!! Also sleeping with a snoogle helps immensely to take pressure off. I had horrible back pain with my first bc my tailbone went out of place in pregnancy. This time it started happening again and I immediately started my yoga/Pilates routine again and the pain went away the same day. I also had to start sleeping with my pregnancy pillow (snoogle) earlier this time. Thanks to those two things my pain is gone though.
Avatar f tn Commonly cited conditions that lead to cramps include muscle fatigue, lack of proper stretching, dehydration and electrolyte imbalances. Less commonly, medications or an underlying medical disorder are the culprit. Exercising in a hot environment can lead to excessive sweating, which further contributes to dehydration. If you aren't getting enough electrolytes in your diet, particularly sodium, potassium and magnesium, that can also contribute to getting foot cramps.
Avatar n tn Im average weight, I eat healthy I dont add any salt to my diet. I run, walk and do pilates. I do all the things I can at home and still no improvement. Im concerned when I start working as a Nurse 12 hours on my feet. No family hx of heart disease. At times my leg feels heavy and I get a little tired, it tingles when I elevate my foot. I cant see my doctor until mid June. Any feedback would be great.
