Like right now I have a cramp in my foot. Last night I had such a bad cramp in my leg I had to hop out of bed and hobble around for quite awhile before it finally went away. Could this be a sign of dehydration? What else could it be?
Avatar f tn Causes for me are usually overexertion during the day (for me it happens mostly at night), improper stretching and dehydration. But there is a long list of what causes it. It is usually just one foot for me at a time. Sometimes it goes up further in the foot and calf. Wonder if that is what you are talking about? Good idea to ask that, Barb!
Avatar f tn Cramps are usually due to low electrolytes and dehydration. Magnesium supplements are great for handling cramps. Do not take over about 250mg combined per day while preg though. Preferably ask your doc if its OK before adding one in. My ob approved a low dose in addition to my prenatal, said said it would help cramps and palpitations. Also can prevent preeclampsia. Your prenatal should have a little so just read your labels. Don't want too much.

Avatar n tn I am a Type 1 diabetic who has recently been suffering from leg, foot, toe, ankle, thigh, and even hand cramps so bad that I can hardly stand it. I get the foot and leg and ankle cramps usually in the middle of the night, and then can't sleep. It is almost a nightly occurance. My ankle sort of keeps cramping up, and then it spreads to my toes and calf. It is absolutely unbearable. I am wondering if ANYONE can tell me where to start to find out what is causing this.
Avatar m tn Well, if muscle cramps are due to dehydration and electrolyte balance, then this can get aggravated in summers and in hot weather. I would suggest you get the blood levels of the following checked if they have not already been checked: potassium, calcium, sodium, magnesium, vitamin B complex, or vitamins B1, B3, or B6 and Vitamin D. Generally deficiencies of any of the above can cause muscle cramps in localized or generalized areas of the body.

Avatar m tn I've been having constant foot cramps. Podiatrist recommended some stretches and stuff, but also suggested a thyroid test. FT3 is 3.22 (2.57-4.43) FT4 is 1.17 (0.64-1.77) TSH is 4.24 (0.27-4.2) Anti-Tg is 41.14 (1000 (<5.61) So the TSH is just a hair too high, but the anti-TPO is off the chart. Is there a thyroid problem or not? What does this mean? I've got an appointment with an endocrinologist, but I just want to get ahead of the game.
