Avatar m tn you contract the intrinsic muscles of your feet when you bend the foot back. when your muscles are not used to these movements, they go into spasms. i recommend soaking your feet in warm water and doing toe curling exercises: bend and extend your toes (like waiving bye bye).
Avatar f tn CP persons have bone growth that goes faster than muscle growth thus the curved foot etc so if you strengthen muscles they grow stronger and curved foot etc will straighten out plus walking becomes easier etc many great things .
Avatar n tn A comprehensive foot exam to assess the skin, muscles, bones, circulation, and sensation of the feet is in order. People who cannot sense pressure from a pinprick may have lost protective sensation and are at risk for developing foot sores that may not heal properly. There are other tests the doctor can run. However, the first step in treating DN is controlling your glucose level to bring them into normal range in order prevent further nerve damage.

Your lateral compartment contains muscles that move your foot and ankle away from your body. When a compartment is overused the muscles will become painful. Mollyrae is correct that you should see your physician for an evaluation. In the mean time rest, elevation of your leg(s), ice or heat and a NSAID may ease your discomfort. I wish you the best.

Avatar f tn how can i get my foot to move like it used to before i broke it cause now its stiffened up so much that it hurts when i try popping any of the bones
Avatar m tn Standing on one foot and balancing like this actually relaxes all of the muscles in your foot and leg, because all of the muscles are being used. You are creating and achieving muscular balance! Try to balance for one minute. When you start to become better at balancing, you can do two minutes or more. When you are done with your first leg, then practice balancing on your other foot. An interesting side effect occurs, and it is a good one! Your legs will be less achey.
1263295 tn?1269927250 Osteoarthritis of the hindfoot (the bones and joints between your heel and the front of your ankle) is not uncommon. It can be caused by normal wear and tear, or an undiagnosed deformity in the bones. One signal that the problem is in the hindfoot is that the majority of your pain happens when you rotate the foot laterally (side to side, like rolling your ankle).

Avatar f tn It could also be stress fractures of the bones of the foot. You will need MRI of the whole foot, X-rays of the foot, EMG and nerve conduction studies for a confirmed diagnosis. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history.
Avatar f tn The whole body weight is supported by foot and all the tendons of the leg muscles are inserted in your leg bones and with this fracture and the screws and all the foreign bodies inserted inside you are having constant irritation with standing/walking etc. So you have to take pain killers and learn how to support your weight and decrease your pain slowly, your Physiotherapist can explain it to you. Take care!

Avatar f tn I have noticed lately that after talking for just a few minutes my upper jaw bones/cheek bones tend to ache. This happens even when I tilt my head back to put on my mascara. I do have mild allergies but they are not very bothersome, unlike this dull ache in my face. It seems to be getting worse. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn I fractured my cuboid bone over 5 months ago from an injury sustained when I jumped from my boat onto a floating dock, Struck a rotten board that collapsed lodging my foot in place as I fell over. It was not dx for 5 or 6 weeks. A walking shoe was ordered and I continued to work and was told it should be fine in 2 or 3 weeks. I thought it was healing, but for the past 1+ months the pain is increasing - arch/ankle.
Avatar f tn I Found out that the bones in kids legs and feet grow faster than their muscles. This can cause pain in the joints because the muscles have not stretched to the length of the fast growing bones. His pcp suspected this when my son could not flex his foot back to 90 degrees. I went to a sports medicine doctor who spotted this immediately. He suggested stretches for my son-- he had to stand about 3 steps away from a wall and then lean forward keeping his feet flat in the ground...
Avatar f tn What you see outside of the foot or feel in pain may not really matter if you have an instability within the bones or muscles of the foot that needs to be addressed. Just my thoughts. It sounds like you would like a second opinion which is certainly reasonable.
Avatar f tn They do a lot to the foot, bone, muscles and all.
Avatar f tn Agree stay hydrated. Could also be due to low calcium. Baby takes a lot of calcium from you to build it's bones, overnight when your body regenerates it takes calcium from your bones to replenish what baby is taking from your supply. I had the same issue, Charlie horse every night for weeks till I decided to finally mention if to my dr. He told he to take calcium pills which helped tremendously.
Avatar m tn My legs look bowed outward from the front. Not sure if the actual bones are bowed like that or if my calf muscles and general leg makeup make it appear that way. If I jog or run, my leg bones below the knee and particularly in the shins get pain in them as if someone is just pressing on the bone really hard making it hurt. My mother has commented that I "have enough space for another toe" between my big toe and second toe. Is this also another condition? Some pics: http://ibb.
Avatar f tn It started to hurt every time I would walk long distances and would feel like I had my socks bunched up under my toes. It graduated to constant ball of foot pain with numbness in the ball of foot and toes with tenderness between the metatarsal bones on both feet. Has anyone ever had this or currently has the same symptoms? I have been to my GP who thinks it is a foot issue. I have an appointment with an Orthopedic, but could not get an appointment until April.
666921 tn?1254990618 Sometimes I can breeze through a work out and others I can barely make it before my bones and muscles start to ache and the next few days to weeks are hell as the pain increases. Sometimes just repetitive motion like scrubbing a bathtub will bring on the pain. I also work in the medical field and sometimes the motion of scrubbing up/washing my hands causes chest wall pain to begin.

Avatar n tn Another factor that contributes to the flattening of the arch of the foot is tightness of the calf muscles. The calf muscle attaches into the foot by the achilles tendon into the back of the heel. When the calf muscle is tight it limits the movement of the ankle joint. When ankle joint motion is limited by the tightness of the calf muscle it forces the subtalar joint to pronate excessively. Exercise, such as walking or jogging will cause the calf muscle to tighten.
Avatar m tn Researchers do not understand the exact cause of leg spasms, they believe that out-of-shape and weak muscles are more likely to cause muscle spasms. Muscles are bundles of fiber that relax and contract to move the joints and bones of the skeletal system. The signal to relax or contract is transferred by nerve cells that communicate with cells within the muscles.
Avatar n tn I have bumped my small toe two weeks ago, it was badly swollen and is still swollen and it was blue for the first week. I could barely walk on the foot for the first few days and I can't bend it or use the muscles on the side then a burning toring feeling goes in the toe. I bumped it again this morning and now its worse all over. There is a bone on the inside of the small toe that makes a hard point to the side, and putting pressure on that bone is very sore.
