Common Questions and Answers about Foot bones lateral

Avatar f tn Where is anterior lateral process and what bones does it articular with? I can't find in anatomical illustrations. Is the lateral process fracture more complicated than a regular heel fracture? How long would one wait until choosing surgery? I have an excellent sports ortho but his PA says surgery won't help this condition. Thank you!
Avatar f tn One question is when he does let the leg drop as he walks on the crutches his foot turns a blue color is there a problem with that?? Another question is can they not put it in a cast bc my husband is very fearfull of the surgery? He just fell on it the wrong way i guess. Could he have a problem with his bones being so young? I have read and most of the tibia fibula fractures is caused by car, ski and other such activities.
1366685 tn?1278019145 I tend to walk with increase weight on the lateral side of my foot. I also have tenderness, swelling, and redness. I have already got xrays and will be getting my results next week. I know I am an adult, but could I be getting this disease like my son? I have the same symptons?
Avatar n tn a medial flange would help take weight off the inner portion of the foot better than a lateral post. typically, a lateral post shifts more weight to the inner foot area. if you pronate a lot and have tibialis pain, a ritchie brace or arizona brace would hold the medial ankle more upright, whereas an orthotic has limits for doing so. it would be difficult for me to assess your orthotics w/o seeing them. if they continue to hurt, i would get it re-evaluated.
Avatar n tn Your anterior compartment is an area in your leg that contains the muscles that point your foot and toes toward your body. Your lateral compartment contains muscles that move your foot and ankle away from your body. When a compartment is overused the muscles will become painful. Mollyrae is correct that you should see your physician for an evaluation. In the mean time rest, elevation of your leg(s), ice or heat and a NSAID may ease your discomfort. I wish you the best.
Avatar f tn The Lisfranc fracture is a fracture or dislocation of the joints in your mid foot, here some small bones forms an arch on top of the foot between your ankle joint and toes. I would suggest you to go for a second opinion and try to delay fusion and if possible go for a second surgery. If there is no scope for healing after a second opinion and recent scans then you are left with option for fusion as this will stabilize your foot.
Avatar m tn I have had persistent diarrhea for over 3-4 weeks, which I am constantly changing my diet to fit my weight lifting lifestyle and possibly using some supplements that cause diarrhea. I developed a non diffuse, uni-lateral rash on my left foot this weekend, and for the most part having been worried sick since that time. What do you think the chances are that I contracted the virus, and would I be showing symptoms such as these just 1 year post infection?
490398 tn?1319940717 The main surgery is a full fusion of two or three of the ankle/foot bones. The other is an excision of some bone to allow for better movement which would result in less pain. I'm just really frustrated...I see my doc on Monday and I need to go to him with some good information so he doesn't just stick me in another cast...I need to get back to work! HELP!!
Avatar m tn I would suggest you to go for an X-ray to rule out any injuries to your bones in the knee area. Osteochondroma or exostosis occurs commonly in the long bones around the major joints like the knee. Take NSAIDs intermittently and apply ice packs and follow up with an orthopedician. Take care!
Avatar f tn Since there is swelling on one side this could be due to ligament tear or bony spur. Impingement of the ankle joint between the bones of ankle and foot is another possibility. Osteoarthritis, gout and rheumatoid arthritis are the other possibilities. Bursitis can give a sudden onset pain. Dislocation or rupture of a tendon can also cause shooting pain.
Avatar f tn A bone splinter refers to an abnormal bone fragment (usually occurs secondary to injuries/ fractures) which may be associated with any of the bones or the ankle joint. The seriousness and the management would depend on the size and the location of the fragment. This is best discussed in detail with your treating doctor. Hope this information helps. Take care!
Avatar f tn June 28 2009 The bone scan showed mild diffuse increased activity in the region of the tarsus and right lateral foot compared with the left. It was demonstrated in the static images in multiple projections. August 3 2007 - MRI There is mild grade I strain of the exterisor digitorum brevis muscle. The is mild contusion w/o fractures of the cuboid and medial aspect of the tafar neck June 15 2007- Probable cortical avulsion fracture involving the tarsal cuboid.
Avatar n tn Bone bruises can take up to 12 weeks to heal, so I would be patient. When you rolled your ankle, one of the bones in your foot banged against another, causing a bruise. Essentially this is bleeding and swelling within the bone, and is usually self limitting, it gets better on its own. Before we had MRI, we didn't see these on xray, and they went untreated. Immobilzation in a removable brace usually is helpful in the acute phase, but at this point, I can't sayhow helpful it would be.
Avatar f tn This disc herniation is also entangling (compressing, disturbing the path) of your SI nerve root within its lateral recess. The lateral recess is an area that the spinal nerves travel through. This entanglement of the S1 nerve root is probably what is causing the majority of your pain, your symptoms are typical for S1 radiculopathy. Is Tramadol even strong enough, I’ve heard it not very effective for severe pain?
Avatar n tn Small amount of signal within the body of the lateral meniscus, might represent a small tear with adjacent small parameniscal cysts. Ligaments: Anterior cruciate ligament: Mild increased signal within the anterior cruciate ligament, might be related to prior sprain. Posterior cruciate ligament: Intact Medial collateral ligament: Thickening of the MCL at the femoral attachment site is suggestive of prior injury.
Avatar f tn Mine do that! Even if I move my foot my hips crack and pop. It's normal. Mine started doing it at 22 weeks.
1148201 tn?1262165258 Have you had it fixed and should I let them fix all at one time?.Also I have nerve damage causing foot drop that they say they will attempt to fix at as well. They need to graph from both hamstrings to my knee as well as a piece from my other knee. Many holes and much more pain. Ouch need some support to get though this one just a word from the wise. If you have had any done please let me know what you experienced as I find very little on web about multiple ruptures.
Avatar f tn You may have some pinched nerves in your lower back and also some little bones out of alignment in your foot. He/she will take some x-rays and this will show what areas need attention. Many chiros even can make special orthotics which can be of great help. I hope you get relief soon, having painful feet can make the entire body miserable. God bless you.
Avatar f tn I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago by stepping on a rock while running. I sat in a chair for 3 days while applying RICE before borrowing a friends crutches & boot cast. Here it is 2 weeks later & the pain is still intense to the touch, my foot is still swollen, I can walk on it but w/ a major limp (I can't walk on it for long though)& now I'm starting to feel pain up the back of my ankle/lower calf. No, I haven't gone to see a Dr.

Avatar f tn Bones of the left knee do appear somewhat under mineralized relative to the right knee. Areas of sclerosis within the lateral tibial plateau and lateral femoral condyle are demonstrated, as well as within the distal femoral metaphysis. One or all of these sclerotic foci may represent sequelae of avascular necrosis given reported history. No significant joint space narrowing is identified. No suprapatellar joint effusion. IMPRESSION: 1. No acute osseous abnormality. 2.
Avatar f tn Hello Dear, Distal fibula nonunion appears is a relatively common cause of persistent lateral ankle symptoms. The persistent lateral pain results from micromotion strain at the incomplete fracture union site Historically, the standard of care for minimally or nondisplaced, closed, distal fibula fractures has been short-term immobilization and progressive weightbearing. Vast majority of such patients are expected to heal with excellent functional outcome after such treatment.
