Common Questions and Answers about Foot anatomy tibia

foot

Avatar n tn Whenever I lift my feet, including when I am walking, they hang down heavily and it feels like the Tibia? (I looked at a picture of ankle/foot anatomy and based on the diagram I assume it is the Tibia) and my feet are disconnected. It sort of feels like a bruising pain. I even have trouble rotating both of my feet. Not because of the pain (even though it does hurt) but it is hard to rotate to the front.
1279419 tn?1271197281 Hi there,4 weeks ago i fell skateboarding,i ended up breaking my tibia and fibula,a spiral break in the tibia leaving 2 breaks in the tibia and 1 in the fibula,I'v had the nail from knee to ankle.
Avatar n tn Back in 2013 I broke both my Fibia & Tibia and it also dislocated my ankle. Of course everything was put back into place but now 3 years later my toes are still curled down (looks like hammertoes almost) and my foot will swell at least once or twice a day. Is this normal? I have a steel plate on the right side of the fibia/tibia and a total of 12 boths holding it all together.
1196614 tn?1265075773 I had a auto accident and I broke the tibia and fibula bones. After 12 days in the hospital without having the surgery on my leg I was told by the doctors that it wouldn't matter the long waiting...Ok so, when I finally got the surgery and after seeing an X-ray of my leg I had some questions from my own. I asked the doctor why my fibula looked like is still broken on the x-ray.
Avatar f tn I went to E.R. They said I dislocated my tibia off my tibia. Put splint on and gave me number to orthopedic doctor. I was up all night with pain, they only gave me 8 pain pills and I can't even talk to orthopedic doctor till Monday (it is Saturday morning). I took the splint off and that reduced the pain a little. The swelling is huge and I occasionally lose some feeling in my toes. Should I be worried and is there any advice on what I can do to make it till Monday?
Avatar n tn I broke my tibia and fibula on oct 10th/2010, and had surgery, and plates and screws put in on both bones. It is now january 6th/2011. Im still not walking, or putting any pressure on it, and the doctor said that it is healing very slowly.. when i take off my boot brace, my foot is very crooked when it is flat on the ground. the doctor doesnt seem to know what is wrong. he said that the ex-ray looks straight, and everything looks good. it looks like my foot is just flopping over to the side..
Avatar f tn Hi all, 6 months ago I broke my tibia and fibula in a motorbike crash. They were comminute fractures at the top, just below the knee. The tibia was fixed with a large plate but the fibula was left to mend itself. I also had several small fractures in my foot. I used crutches for 5 months and then a walking stick for the last 4 weeks, now for the last 2 days I've been walking on my own but with quite a limp due to weakness.
Avatar m tn m not an anatomy expert but it seems to be in the lower area of the Flexor Digitorum Longus, on the tibia side. The pain is rstricted to above the ankle, and there is no pain on the sole of my foot or my toes. It usually begins the day after a run and lasts up to a few days. In those days afterwards, even walking 30-40 minutes can flare it up. . A run with a very steep hill seems to be a guarantee to bring the symptoms on.
Avatar n tn 5 months ago I fell off my motorcycle and broke my tibia. I had to have surgery, I was given an external fixation for 4months and then a cast for 4weeks. I have now removed my cast, and the x-ray showed that my tibia fracture had recovered and formed but is still 10 degrees bent. I am now undergoing physio 3times weekly. Will I be able to be active as I was playing footie etc after recovery, will it be a long term damage, my leg also looks bent.
1026639 tn?1251963493 I have an open fracture tibia and fibula in my left foot last Aug. 9 2009 due to motor accident. My doctor implant an intramedullary rod in my tibia last August 14 2009. I have a weekly check up to my doctor. my question is when can I walk without a crutches??
Avatar f tn i had a spiral fracture to my fibula about ten months ago. i had an internal fix with plates, screws with a rod extending from fibula to tibia. this was less about the fracture itself, and more to do with the resulting gap between tibia and talus. i've had some pains in my tibia, and speculated it was near where the rod was placed (i've no pain in my fibula). i started back at the gym and including some strength training and aerobics (usually ellipticala) and have had little problem.
Avatar f tn Alright, I suffered a closed, dislocated comminuted fracture of the extreme distal tibia just above the ankle joint on Feb 19th of this year with surgery the following day. There was an associated fibula break at the same level as the tibia fracture and a second below my knee. The actual ankle joint was not involved at all. I was treated with an IM nail for the tibia.
Avatar n tn I’m 35, 185 lbs, 6 foot, healthy and active. I have Kaiser, so their ER put a soft cast/splint on currently. These are their notes on the x-ray: There is a fracture at the distal right fibula extending superiorly from the level of the ankle mortise. There is lateral displacement of the distal fracture fragment measuring 6 mm. There are no other acute bony abnormalities. There is mild hallux valgus alignment. There is soft tissue swelling throughout the ankle. Would you recommend surgery or not?
Avatar n tn Her fibia is shorter than it should be, but her tibia is fine. Also her foot is hyper extended pointing up almost touching her shin. Anyone know anything bout this ?
Avatar f tn I cannot put my foot into a shoe , walk fully stand on toes frozen or bend foot correctly. Dr said I will never be able to either. At some point the bone came out of alignment and healed incorrectly. It's inoperable. Plus there is no more cartledge and arthritis has set in. A former athlete and outdoor enthusiast I rely on physical activity to keep my MS from interfering in my life. I am in pain daily, waking me up and with every star. Cortisone did nothing but add to the pain.
Avatar m tn This happened to me after foot surgery. The fracture clinic wrapped my foot well with roll gauze between each toe to separate them from each other before putting my foot back in the boot and the ulcer was able to dry out and get better.
Avatar m tn so my docter did surgery one year later, he took the nail out of my leg and replaced it with a plate and and screws, during surgery he broke my fibula to get the plate in place. i dont no why he did it but my tibia feels alot better and now my fibula is broken, my question is has anyone ever had a corrective surgery on there tibia and had there fibula broken. And how long does it take for the fib to heal and am i screwed ? i dont know what to do.
Avatar m tn Broke my posterior distal tibia 7 weeks ago today. Bone scan found the fracture 2 weeks ago. Going to see Ortho on tuesday. Still hurts a lot. Can't put my foot flat down (won't go flat) so walk on ball of foot only.Ankle will not move up or side to side downwards a little. So what am I expecting to hear when I go to see doctor. Any ideas.
2644165 tn?1387244348 , lima bean or a nickel) on the inside of my left calf and just above my ankle along the tibia and in between the tibia and soleus muscle. The mass feels hard, ovate, about the size of a large lima bean (but a bit more rectangular), and it does not feel fixed to the tibia bone. This mass has a tiny pea-sized mass/lipoma adjacent to it just above the tibia that is also movable. The main mass will move slightly if I manipulate the skin, and does not hurt to the touch.
Avatar f tn In 1999 I was hit by a car and fractured my left tibia and fibular which was fixed (tibia only) by an intermedullary nail 1 day after the accident. Union of the tibia was very slow - (the fibula was left untreated) but eventually I was told that the tibia had united. The nail was removed exactly 1 year later as it was becoming an irritant as the screws near the knee failed 3 months after the initial operation and the nail was just fixed at the lower (ankle) portion for the next 9 months.
Avatar n tn I've had my left ankle broken on sept 29, it was a fibula frature with a tibia dislocation, was on splint for a week, had surgery on oct 7th,plate + screws + a very long screw to place my tibia on the right place, splint for another week, then my orthopedist put me on aircast Air Stirrup Universe since then. He told me to start physical therapy a week after surgery, but I waited until 2 weeks. Now my foot hurts on an area that has nothing to do with the fracture.
Avatar f tn this is tmi but it feels like after i have an orgasm like the thumping on my tibia but it won’t stop... neither of us have any type of std or disease as i was checked and he was a virgin, it’s been like this for a couple days!! i just noticed blood before i took a bath but then it went away. i’m supposed to start my period so i thought it was my period but it was kinda clumpy...
Avatar m tn I am doubtful that a thirty year old, fairly benign injury, which has never caused symptoms, is suddenly the cause of problems, What you are describing sounds like tibia vara, or a bowed tibia, probably unrelated to the old hematoma. I wonder if a comparison xray was taken to see if the deformity is present in the "normal" leg. Other possible causes of pain are a stress fracture, shin splints, or an arthritic knee.
Avatar n tn I broke my tibia and fibula 13 years ago. The doctors put a metal rod inside my tibia and put a screw in the top and bottom of the bone. Ever since I haven't been able to run without a limp and over the last few months I've been having a lot of pain in the bottom of my foot when I stand up after sitting for any amount of time. The pain seems to go away after I walk a few minutes. I also have been having some pain in my knee. This has only been going on for a few weeks.
Avatar n tn I am a 40 year old female who had a compound fracture of tibia/fibula with rod in tibia and pins going across knee and ankle. Accident was in December 2012. Ankle&knee hurts with fracture site (almost directly in middle of tibia). Can I get this stuff taken out of my leg? Rod is directly in the middle of my bone. Surgery or pain advise would be awesome!
Avatar f tn I had a complicated fracture of my right tibia and fibula under went open reduction and external fixation in February after 2 weeks they took off the plaster and staples but never plastered my leg they gave me a grey boot to wear and told me not to put any weight on it but 6 mths later im still in pain and my foot feels num the consultant says it's taking a long time to heal and unless I stop smoking I could lose my leg but when I left the hospital 2 days after I broke my leg I was told that
