Avatar f tn The vast majority of these children were believed to have food allergies. More recent studies have shown that approximately 60-70% of children with and without allergies improve when additives are removed from their diet, that up to almost 90% of them react when an appropriate amount of additive is used as a challenge in double blind tests, and that food additives may elicit hyperactive behavior and/or irritability in normal children as well. ref:http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar f tnResearch studies suggest elevated serum antibodies, IgE, IgG or IgA to food proteins are markers of this immune intolerance. ** For example, elevated IgA antigliadin is a proven useful marker of the immune reaction in the small intestine triggered by gluten, in celiac disease. Basically, this means you most likely do have celiac disease. This means nothing with gluten should be consumed or you will probably have a reaction. It's a food allergy to gluten - Gluten is in A LOT of foods.
Avatar f tn I recently got tested for food allergies. I found I rated a low (mostly 1s) to wheat, rice and corn. So my question is what can I eat without spending tons of money. Also doing research I found with a wheat allergy corn can sometimes pop up as a false negative and cutting out wheat can cancel it out. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Avatar f tn Does anyone know of any open stem cell research studies or proven successful stem cell therapy treatments to stop and/or reverse viral attacks on the human body? I heard this type of therapy is out there but don't see many studies. Not even finding studies specific to a particular virus (HSV, HPV, coxsackie, ....
Avatar m tn Any food can cause an allergy, but there is a difference between an allergy and sensitivity. A sensitivity it will make you feel bad, gastric upset and that type of thing. For example people who can't tolerate lactose have a sensitivity not an allergy. Allergy means your throat is closing, or you get hives. It is an immune response. My sis for example can have any citrus fruit or her throat starts to close - allergy.
754367 tn?1233692384 Food allergies can very definitely cause behavioral problems, in both children and adults. The most common cause is probably from "leaky gut' leading to IgG antibody reactions to food proteins and peptides. If there are known allergies to corn, wheat and chocolate in your family, you should have your daughter tested to see if she has an IgE immune response to these foods ( "true allergy"), or if she has a IgG antibody reaction (food intolerance, or food sensitivity).
Avatar f tn I was eating a sandwich using a new roll from Walmart when about 15 minutes after ingestion my lips, mouth, and tongue started to tingle and itch intensely. They my throat started to itch, both inside and outside. I'm fairly certain this is a food allergy, but they only ingredient I've seen that strikes me as unusual in these rolls is Fava Bean flour.

However, unless a child has a food allergy/intolerance or a verifiable metabolic condition it is unlikely that dietary changes will affect their disability at all.
Avatar m tn The leading theory about the cause of EE is it represents allergy to some protein found in food. So if you can eliminate the allergy-inducing food it may result in reversal of the esophagitis and disappearance of the eosinophils. You may want to consider an elimination diet.
Avatar f tn Good to know I'm not alone on this one. And I agree Gillilandbunch, that America tends to be way over cautious. I swear it's like I read a new food warning for pregnant women on a daily basis. It's like all the no nos during pregnancy are never ending!! (And not just with food) At this point I'm starting to feel like certain research is my enemy. Lol ...
Avatar m tn Has anyone read/heard of these studies? I was reading several different sources of information that indicate a 46% increase in Ribavirin absorption with a fatty meal. One is here: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1804105/ The above study also indicates that lean body weight has an impact on levels in the blood. I'm in my first week of triple tx with Incivek so my morning dose of RBV is taken with the fatty meal for that.

Their answer was there was no such thing and presribed her a epi pen. Now are there any tests to prove or disprove these afore mentioned items. 1) Can you be allergic to food die and can it be backed by a scientific test? 2) Can you be allergic to aromatic candles and can it be backed by a scientific test?
Avatar f tn The thing with the vet is that they always tell me that he is a lab and he might have picked something up and we could try an allergy food and we should incdease the food. Basically, that's all they ever say. I thought somebody here might have had this issue in the past. We also feed him cooked chicken and a couple of veggies and fruits ,everything he is allowed to eat and he gets probiotics once a day. I am also tryiing to find a pet store that sells raw chicken necks. Not too easy:).
Avatar n tn My son's soy allergy caused urinary incontinence, so I would think a dairy allergy could also, though I don't know if there's any research that supports this. It would be interesting to see if you do better taking a digestive enzyme product with DPP-IV in it, just before having ice cream, however, LOL, one of the effects of taking digestive enzymes can be.... increased urinary frequency! Oh well.
Avatar f tn As allergic reactions are IgE mediated, blood tests will show increase in these levels secondary to a food allergy. The problem with the food allergy testing is sometimes the amount of food they challenge with may be not sufficient to elicit any allergic reactions. When such food is consumed in large quantities can elicit allergic reaction in the form of hives, redness of skin, itching etc. You need to note down such food also in your diary and avoid the intake in future.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had a food allergy to anything they normally ate in the past if so how long did the blotchy need last?

Avatar n tn After blood tests and skin tests - all the results were negative. The allergiest said it could be an allergy to a food additive or preservative? I continued to avoid seafood anyway and didn't have any problems for several months. However, last week I ate a hamburger with mushrooms and cheese and had a similar reaction. No facial numbness but extreme dizziness and breathing difficulty. I have an epipen but have never used it.
