Common Questions and Answers about Food allergy and joint pain

allergies

Avatar f tn Can food intolerances and/or allergies joint and muscle pain mirroring neuropathies?
Avatar f tn ll see that post, but food allergies is often the culprit. I get hives and skin rashes on my legs when I eat the wrong food. Also more joint pain when I eat dairy or gluten -- I THINK. Haven't really tested that theory enough yet but I think that's what's causing joint pain. Regular blood tests won't tell you anything about this and I don't know why medical docs won't recommend food allergy tests.
709686 tn?1277432159 About an hour later I became dizzy and lightheaded, chest pain and every joint in my body hurt and had all kinds of muscle. This lasted 5-6 hours...it was misserable. Over the past 7-8 months I have changed my diet to eliminate gluten as this protein can cause all kinds of inflamation and other problems. Well all of my meals have been gluten free which is why I am so frustrated as to my pain situation.

Avatar m tn t found much information on the internet on this type of reaction. Is it possible to have pain and swelling in your joints from a food allergy? How should I go about finding the cause? Is this something that I should see an allergist for, or would a rheumatologist be a better fit. Thanks for any replies.
709686 tn?1277432159 About an hour later I was misserable with muscle aches and joint pain. I was so dizzy that I could not drive and my head felt very foggy. So for the last week I have had no gluten but still felt like crud. Today I was mad that I felt bad ALL THE FRICKIN TIME. I thought WTF..since I feel bad all the time I'm going to McDonalds. After eating the fries the pain as twice as bad as yesterday. As I look back over the past 10 years of my life I certainly see a trend here. Anyway...
Avatar f tn Since the causative agent has not been identified, you could try and work towards that. As, therapy lies in avoiding the allergen and anti-histamines. Maintain a food dairy and try to see if anything is triggering your attacks. Also, be aware of environmental triggers or seasonal variations. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
1310435 tn?1273598077 not that this can replace medical treatment for pain and arthritis, but glucosamine is great for helping with joint pain - it helps lubricate the joints and build new cartlidge. My mother in law swears by it for her arthritis, so it might help you out. Jamieson vitamins (canadian company, but they now sell to the US at www.jamiesondirect.com) makes shellfish free glucosamine products (great if you have an allergy or are worried about contaminants). Hope you get some relief!
Avatar n tn She had a bladder infection and was just finishing an antibiotic when her rash showed up it quickly turned into severe joint pain and hives. The joint pain would migrate from one spot to another. One day she can not walk and bend her knees the next she seems to be fine. We are going to meet with a rhumetoid specialist tomorrow. I would like to know what outcomes you experienced with your son.
709686 tn?1277432159 Symptoms are severe abdominal pain, dizzy, lightheaded, brain fog, muscle and joint pain, fatigue, weakness in legs and knees. At first I eliminated dairy and that seemed to help. Next came gluten, sugar and nightshades. Today for lunch I had grilled chicken, gluten free pasta with tomato sauce and spinich salad. About an hour later I was dizzy, confused, lightheaded, mouth sores and my legs really hurt.
Avatar f tn Has a Lyme's disease test been done on you? If not, one should be, because Lyme's Disease can cause rash (typically a bullseye looking one, but not always) as well as joint pain and swelling. Also Reiter's Syndrome causes joint pain and swelling, and that is a disease that can be transmitted sexually. Sometimes there is vaginal or penile discharge that looks like pus, as well as the joints hurting, possible swelling, etc.
Avatar n tn She sometimes feels fine with little pain and sometimes unbearable joint pain and can barely walk. The hives come and go also. We went to ER and doctors and ran a lot of blood tests and took chest xray and knee xray and everything appears to be "normal". She has been dealing with this for about a week and they told her to take motrin and claritin. I don't know what to do. Making an appt. to see rheumatologist as soon as possible. If anyone has any answers please help!
Avatar n tn So this symptoms could be something like cholecystitis.... not sure about the rash and joint pain... however, there is a possibility that a problem with your gall bladder, could cause another problem which may cause you to present with other symptoms. I'm not an expert, thats just how I have read into the symptoms you have described... I Hope this information is helpful, Dee.
Avatar f tn My throat closed. I got steroids and the hives got better. Then the joint pain kicked in. My hands and right shoulder were so painful I couldn't use/move them. The symptoms would go away and return (the joint pain not hives). My shoulder hasn't bothered me lately but my hands and fingers still hurt. Did this happen to anyone and can you offer any advice? Thanks.
7078655 tn?1387811443 It maybe an allergy to certain food you are eating, go back and ask for further tests , I understand you feel scared , many are having similar symptoms you are not alone ..Make a list of food/drink befo0re an attack, does it happen at night ?
Avatar f tn Hello, The rash that you are having and the joint pain can be related as in psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. The rash can be due to psoriasis which causes skin cells to grow too quickly, resulting in thick, white, silvery, or red patches of skin. It is thought that psoriasis occurs when the immune system overreacts, causing inflammation and flaking of skin.
709686 tn?1277432159 Anyone ever heard of this? Over the past two years I have gone through 3 major diet changes to try and determine what is causing me so much pain. Severe stomach cramps, joint/muscle pain and muscle weakness, severe dizzyness, chest pain, lightheaded, migraine headaches, hands and feet sting/burn and vision problems. I have been fighting everyone of these on a daily basis. These symptoms seemed to come on almost overnight but as I look back they have just been getting worse as time goes by.
Avatar f tn I have been extremely tired, do have bone and joint pain, and have been having terrible night sweats. I drench the sheets. My thought it was perimenapause. I'm 44. Any have any info they could share with this or thoughts? Thanks!
Avatar f tn t sound like a food allergy to me. You also say you get swollen fingers so sore that you can barely move and joint pain. I would discuss all these issues with your family doctor. You've been to see your dermatologist and gotten blood work and the blood work came back negative for everything. Anyway, I would definitely make an appointment with family doctor, let your doctor see those huge welts on your back and neck which must be very painful and see what your doctor recommends.
Avatar m tn I usually get every joint in my body arthritic symptoms once a year but it seems to be getting worse. As of recently I have been having chest pain, and left arm pain and numbness (indicative of a heart attack, but no heart attack). I have had numerous blood tests MRIs and X-rays for everything form diabetes, arthritis, MS, lupus, thyroid problems, anemia, and lord knows what else, they tell me everything is normal, yet I am still sick and in pain.
Avatar f tn I had one of the oddest Asthma attacks last night. I've had asthma most of my life (35 of my 39 year life) but, I don't remember ever having one that came on so quick before and went away so quick before. I'm wandering if it was caused by a food allergy I didn't know I had as I can't think of anything else that could have triggered it. Basically, I had a bowl of soup (from a tin) and a couple of cheese sandwiches for dinner then sat and watch tv.
Avatar m tn s best to get your iron from foods such as spinach, sunflower seeds, sweet peas and beef. Essiac might help with the joint pain. (I have Fibromyalgia and Essiac really helps me especially during the summer months when there is any dampness in the air). I sincerely hope that these home remedies help you. Let us know how you're doing.
