Avatar m tn The VA [ Veterans Administration ] has looked into using fluvastatin as a treatment for HSV with some impressive results. One patient had a 1/50th load count after 4 weeks of treatment. Some others showed dramatic reductions in load counts also. Has anyone out there tried this treatment ? It does have FDA approval as a treatment for high blood pressure. Avatar m tn Horse chestnut and nettle are also recommended. Dandelion contains magnesium, potassium, manganese, copper, phosphorous, sodium, iron and silicon. The leaves are also rich in vitamin A. It also contains B vitamins, C, D, K and calcium. It is revered for it's ability to tonify the liver and to remove excess water from the body! Good health to you!! Some people get loose stools because it increases bile flow in the body - so don't take it when you have diarrhea.
1579934 tn?1431268911 I just read a recent article (March 31) about Fluvastatin enhancing HCV response in combo with SOC. www.esciencenews.com Search Fluvastatin Has anyone on the forum had first hand experience with it? I'm just searching for all options.

They found fluvastatin to be the most effective at killing the virus, and lovastatin to be the least effective, but all had some negative impact on the virus. I just thought that this was an interesting find and since it was in the AMA journal, thought I would pass it along for what it's worth.
Avatar f tn Drink more water (I know, I know) and you can safely take a 100mg colace capsule (generic name is docusate sodium) once or twice a day. It's a stool softener not a stimulant or a laxative so it won't MAKE you go and won't stress out your almost-ready baby, either. Also try putting your feet up on a low stepstool while you're sitting on the toilet. It puts you in more of a squatting rather than a sitting position which can make it much easier to go.
Avatar m tn How is it possible that I can be producing that much urine? My water intake is probably no more than 6 glasses per day. I am taking two Flomax capsules each day. No pain while urinating , nothing odd in the urine and color of urine is good. I have a moderately strong initial stream, then a 10-12 second pause followed by 10-12 seconds of dripping. Does this all sound normal for my age or can I do something to lower the frequency?
Avatar n tn Does anyone know if it is ok to release the medicine out of capsules and mix the medicine up in juice? I have a problem swallowing pills and was not sure if this was an option????
Avatar f tn 100 mg colace capsules (generic name docusate sodium) taken once daily with increased water intake. Gentle, safe, non-laxative stool softener. Works wonders. In general, getting some gentle exercise and increasing fiber intake helps a lot to keep things moving as well. I take the Colace every night with my prenatal vitamin and haven't had any trouble with constipation since adding it to my daily regimen.
Avatar m tn Drink plenty of water (more than 8 glasses a day). Take fish oil capsules, and take at least one teaspoon of coconut or olive oil every day. Switch to whole wheat or whole grain bread and eat lots of green salads and vegetables. Eat less meat (tends to constipate). If these measures don't help within a two week period, see a doctor for help. Prunes, plums, peaches and pears help you poop. All start with a "P" so it should be easy to remember.
Avatar n tn I like my nature made gel capsules. No taste and goes down smooth. They all have the same amount of folic acid. You don't want to take too much.
1485372 tn?1359545131 When I had severe low sodium levels I was placed on fluid restriction. No more than 24 oz of liquid per day. It was terrible but it worked and I.lived that way for 7 yrs until they found what caused it.
20873519 tn?1556336271 Can you have normal sodium levels and still have addisons disease?
Avatar n tn Accordingly, Plavix may interfere with the metabolism of phenytoin, tamoxifen, tolbutamide, warfarin, torsemide, fluvastatin, and many non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents, but there are no data with which to predict the magnitude of these interactions. Caution should be used when any of these drugs is co administered with Plavix.
798555 tn?1292787551 Alka Seltzer Gold is the "in" detox method since Dr Horowitz's book just came out with it mentioned inside. I prefer activated charcoal capsules.
Avatar m tn When the pain comes on move the leg, use your fingers to massage the painful area the more you can move the muscle the less the pain ..
Avatar n tn Okay, so I get the absolute worst cramps EVER on my period. It is honestly the worst pain I have ever experienced. I've tried using a heating pad, doing a light workout like a walk, eating super low sodium, eating dark chocolate for the magnesium, getting omega 3's in my diet, and eating pineapple because it is anti inflammatory. Sometimes I take Advil medicine, but it never does anything to the cramps. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!!!
Avatar f tn I drink lots of fluids. Calcium, sodium and potassium levels ok. Have increased potassium foods intake and started on calcium supplements on my own. I have them during the day when I sit in certain chairs, but not as severe as the ones I get at night. Have them while in swimming and getting out of the pool and while driving. I get them in my hands when I set my hair.
Avatar m tn If you are going on a statin - which are safe for people with Hep C, by the way - you might consider asking for fluvastatin, which has been shown to inhibit HCV replication in vitro, and has the same efficacy and heart protection as lipitor or crestor. Congrats on svr and Good luck!
Avatar f tn You can try the home remedy first. Drink a teaspoon of baking soda in 8oz of water. Once this morning and once tonight. Also drink cranberry juice. The baking soda should kill the infection and the cranberry juice should help the pain. Up your water intake as well over the next couple days. The baking soda is high in sodium so you'll have to flush that. It cured the uti I had last summer.
Avatar f tn Of course, you have to be careful and make sure you limit your sodium intake as that makes swelling much worse. Additionally, try not to sit for long periods with your feet down; if you have to sit for prolonged periods, such as at work, try to elevate your feet, while you're sitting. I've had good luck with dandelion root for swelling. I use both tea and capsules. The tea isn't the greatest tasting, but with a little sweetener added (I use stevia), it's not bad.
Avatar m tn There is currently a Phase II study going on with Fluvastatin along with regular SOC treatment and because Fluvastatin, like Alinia, is already an approved drug, it would be available sooner and more easily than the PI drugs, for example, currently in trial. http://www.hepatitis-central.com/mt/archives/2008/04/fluvastatin_low.html These links really made me sit up and take notice.
Avatar m tn I didn't see your questions here... are you still here? The peroxidase antibody you had tested is the same thing your friend is calling TPO... the technical name is Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPOab) and your level of 447 is definitely indicative of Hashimoto's, which is an autoimmune thyroid disease in which the body sees the thyroid as foreign and produces antibodies to destroy it.
