Avatar m tn The VA [ Veterans Administration ] has looked into using fluvastatin as a treatment for HSV with some impressive results. One patient had a 1/50th load count after 4 weeks of treatment. Some others showed dramatic reductions in load counts also. Has anyone out there tried this treatment ? It does have FDA approval as a treatment for high blood pressure. 1579934 tn?1431268911 I just read a recent article (March 31) about Fluvastatin enhancing HCV response in combo with SOC. www.esciencenews.com Search Fluvastatin Has anyone on the forum had first hand experience with it? I'm just searching for all options.
636290 tn?1224186146 Anyway, they think there may be some promise and plan to continue research in this area. They found fluvastatin to be the most effective at killing the virus, and lovastatin to be the least effective, but all had some negative impact on the virus. I just thought that this was an interesting find and since it was in the AMA journal, thought I would pass it along for what it's worth.
Avatar n tn Accordingly, Plavix may interfere with the metabolism of phenytoin, tamoxifen, tolbutamide, warfarin, torsemide, fluvastatin, and many non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents, but there are no data with which to predict the magnitude of these interactions. Caution should be used when any of these drugs is co administered with Plavix.
Avatar m tn If you are going on a statin - which are safe for people with Hep C, by the way - you might consider asking for fluvastatin, which has been shown to inhibit HCV replication in vitro, and has the same efficacy and heart protection as lipitor or crestor. Congrats on svr and Good luck!

Avatar m tn In the last lil while I have been downloading speaker tapes from NA and AA from a web site and listening to them. They are in mp3 file. If you want the site send me a message and I im it over to ya. I am not sure of the guidelines on medhelp for posting web sites in public.
446650 tn?1257611215 Did any of you find that NA works? I have tried counsiling but even with insurance I cant afford the cost of what I need to stay sober? I am still using. I had a 2 month break but when i went back to the real world I relaped. MY mother did NA and OA and every kind of A possible but she is just an addiction transfer type person. At this point I am willing to try it. My experience with alnon as a kid was horrible.

Avatar f tn Has NA been helpful for you in your recovery? I'm considering going to my first meeting tomorrow, I'm just not sure if a 12 step program is right for me.
1140259 tn?1261954682 Do any of you go to NA meetings? Do you also have FT time jobs, FT kid responsibilites, FT house duties and so on? How do you find time to go? Is it necessary to go to NA?
1067085 tn?1255286783 The questions and responses that everyone has are quite helpful to me for the most part. However, I would like to start going to NA meetings. My ex boyfriend (who I started using with) has been going to them for awhile and they really seem to have been doing him good (from what I saw before we broke up). Right before we broke up I had mentioned that I would like to start going as well and he expressed to me the he did NOT want me to go.
Avatar m tn There is currently a Phase II study going on with Fluvastatin along with regular SOC treatment and because Fluvastatin, like Alinia, is already an approved drug, it would be available sooner and more easily than the PI drugs, for example, currently in trial. http://www.hepatitis-central.com/mt/archives/2008/04/fluvastatin_low.html These links really made me sit up and take notice.
Avatar n tn A year ago, my doctor gave me Lescol/Fluvastatin to take because I am a high risk for heart disease due to genetics and diabetes. At that time my Lipids were within normal range. After a month, ALT/AST results were very elevated. and medication was discontinued. Since then, I've gone through ultrasound, HiDa Scan and finally diagnose of fatty liver. The Gastroenterologist recommended Liver Biopsy to check for liver damage.
Avatar n tn Lipitor (atorvastatin), Lescol (fluvastatin), Mevacor (lovastatin), Altoprev (lovastatin extended-release), Livalo (pitavastatin), Pravachol (pravastatin), Crestor (rosuvastatin), and Zocor (simvastatin). Combination products include: Advicor (lovastatin/niacin extended-release), Simcor (simvastatin/niacin extended-release), and Vytorin (simvastatin/ezetimibe). The new labels will warn patients about: Memory loss and mental confusion.
Avatar n tn The same enzyme also is responsible for the metabolism of phenytoin (Dilantin), tamoxifen (Nolvadex), tolbutamide (Orinase), torsemide (Demadex), and fluvastatin (Lescol). Although important interactions between clopidogrel and these drugs are unlikely, interactions should be looked for carefully. You should consult your doctor to insure the degree of blood thinning is within specification with INR.
7804860 tn?1394477990 Hi there ~ congratulations on taking this next right step in your recovery! I totally get the anxiety related to going into an "unknown" space... it's a challenge. I commend you for pressing onward! My DOC is different, but really... when all boiled down... addiction is addiction. If we're using any substance to change the way we feel, we have a problem... yeah? Both AA and NA can be beneficial...
462361 tn?1207858977 Ive looked in the pho ne book and online and not really having much luck finding any NA meetings in my area. does anyone have a website or any resource that has a listing ? That would be awesome and sooooo appreciate thank you!
Avatar f tn For any of you that go to NA could you recommend which books to me helped you the most....I was going to order them online. I am not able to do meetings with my toddler. But I am a reader and would like to read as much as I can to educate myself more. I was looking at Basic Text & Just for Today for sure....
